Tryning to guess who will be the final boss...

I would be greatly disappointed if it were Shao Kahn again. That is the worst idea especially since this is a new generation. We might as well just get MK9 all over again if that happened which I seriously doubt.

I think its safe to rule out Onaga and Blaze. Come on, that's not even funny.

So if they're saying its going to be a returning character that no one will expect than it couldn't be Shinnok since he was at the end of MK9. Most people expected it to be him before all of this. I do hold hope that Shinnok will be a player in the story and roster though.

So far Liu Kang seems to be a good bet considering all the hints. (MK9 ending, his death in the story mode, Legacy 2) But we should still consider the options however because we still don't know for sure. The only confirmation is a 'returning character that no one will expect'. My curiousity boils.
 
Yeah he's dead. There is no real reason to bring him back unless they want to do the Deadly Alliance story. I just can't see Tsung as a hero.

I cant see Liu Kang as a villain either but that probably happening. So Shang Tsung will probably be a hero now...which will be weird.
 
Wouldn't it be hilarious if it was Hornbuckle?
Or maybe lui kang turns evil and goes by the alias hornbuckle?
I'm kidding, in all seriousness I'd place my bets on Shinnock, him and Quan Vhi are pretty much definites and out of the two Shinnock is more likely to be the final boss

IF Shang Tsung returned I don't think he'd ever turn the good side. They wouldn't give a rat's ass about one another. Liu Kang never had any real beef with Shang like Kenshi did. He was just the final fight in the first tournament.
 
Shang Tsung always wanted to consume Liu Kang's soul as indicated in the MKDA intro. If Liu Kang was a bad guy and if Tsung came back to life somehow then I guess he would still want to kill Liu Kang but it wouldn't be for noble reasons. I'd never consider Shang Tsung a good guy.

Im sure Shang Tsung would want nothing more than to kill Liu Kang. Though maybe you're right maybe not be a good guy but perhaps just wanting to kill Liu Kang and siding with the good guys since it would benefit him for the time being. I still think he has a high chance of returning in MKX.
 
Well, Kazuya and Heihachi switched hero/villain roles in Tekken 2, so Kang and Shang doing the same wouldn't surprise me.

Because MK1-3 was the golden age and MK9 was a way to reboot the series before diving in to a new direction that is MKX. Remaking the later sequels would be counter productive.

As a side note: I did a little bit more thinking about Evil Kang. People argue about how plain and uninteresting he is. Maybe this is a good way to really turn him in to something original. Who knows, maybe this could be a real definitive moment for the character. That is if this comes true. I mean what better advisary could the series ask for than the champion of Mortal Kombat?
