Watch ANY Kratos/Freddy reveal trailer on Youtube. The likes vastly outweigh the dislikes. MAJORITY don't want/don't care? Sounds to me like you are the wannabe Hitler. Still though, Heil me.
I'm not talking about myself. You are speaking to Papi Chulo. I play on Max difficulty almost any game I play, never use guides and unlock everything I possibly can in a game. I am speaking for the general public. It makes me sick too that most gamers need things handed to them. Fatality Trainer made me violently shit myself out of pure anger, but I understand that this the way the industry is now.

The majority of people hated Freddy and Kratos being in MK9, but obviously you were asleep during that time, or had a sudden case of amnesia.
I provide a solution to the a guest character scenario for MK10, via the Krypt, yet you want to force guest characters down people's throat (whether they want it on not) like a fascist dictator would force something upon people, and I'm the wannabe Hitler? Sure.

The general public can go into the Krypt and unlock it.
It adds replay value to the MK10 Krypt, rather than the stuff that was in the MK9 Krypt.

You wanna talk about "spoiled rotten gamers wanting everything handed to them", there was a thread on GameFAQs about a month ago where the creator of that thread was BEGGING Square Enix to sell the ultimate weapon sigils via DLC in Final Fantasy X HD. Apparently, he was either not skilled enough or was too damn lazy to earn them the original way. That's how low the modern generation has fallen...to where gamers are begging devs to sell items via DLC that were originally acquired via old fashioned gameplay and hard work...in a 13-year-old re-release!

Uh... I bought MK9 because I like Mortal Kombat.
The whole Kratos and Freddy thing doesn't bother me because it's not Cannon. I don't mind guest characters as long as it isn't cannon to the universe. Otherwise It's just another fighting style I get to dive into and break apart to learn how to fight against. It only adds outside of it "breaking immersion" for some people. But that totally depends on your perception.

Yes, Freddy sold the most. Then when Freddy was out, a lot of people wanted Jason. Guest characters make a crap ton of money because it's something way different. For example, I have a friend who bought Lost Planet 3, purely to play as HUNK. Guest characters attract fans of the character. I hate Borderlands, but if they had a Leon Kennedy DLC, you sure as hell I'd buy the game.

Unlockables add REPLAY VALUE. If you don't get your guest kharacter handed to you, don't play MK. I don't really care how much money a guest kharacter makes, because I want replay value.

I loved unlocking fighters as a kid, but once I became more competitive with fighting games it got annoying. Especially when I bought a second copy of MK9 for the PS3 and had to play through the story to unlock one of my mains.

This basically describes Ames and the few people who are the EXCEPTION, NOT the rule, BBBLP.
As did the MAJORITY of people who bought the game.
Not because of Kratos, as BBBLP is implying.
I hardly know of anyone who said, when MK9 came out, "Ooh, Kratos is on there, let me get it."
NO.
The majority of people that I know (BOTH hardcore AND casual gamers) on FB were like (to me) "Hey, man, there's a new Mortal Kombat coming out on PS3."
And I was like "Yup. I'm super hyped."
Not a single person that I know (minus Ames) was like "Hey, Kratos is in Mortal Kombat." "Yay, I'm getting it."
Ames is the exception, NOT the rule.
@BBBLP - Casual or hardcore, if you don't know what the hell Mortal Kombat is, then you've been living under a rock.

Krypt unlockables like characters, videos and easter eggs in MK10 would add replay value to the game, and make an otherwise boring Krypt (like we got in MK9) actually enjoyable.

Maybe for BBBLP, all of those people that attend EVO for MK9 in past years or all the amounts of people that played MK9 online over the years doesn't count either.
Out of the past 3 years of playing MK9, I've probably encountered a Kratos player online maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe a total of 4 times.
It can be counted with one hand.
Why?
Because Kratos is a gimmick which dies out fast, and most people played MK9 for the MK characters from the MK1 thru UMK3 era, and don't care to play as Kratos.
Mortal Kombat is one of the biggest fighting game franchises of ALL TIME, which can stand on its own, without the help of guest characters.
Do they help a little? YES.
Would MK sell millions of copies on its own merit, otherwise? YES.

Guest characters will gain a FEW extra people buying the game, but those FEW people bought the game for the same reason that Tarkatan Trash mentioned that Ames did, aren't MK fans.
The majority of MK fans either hate guest characters or don't give a shit, either way, for guest characters.
At the end of the day, what they really want is a good MK game.
Freddy was another gimmick much like Kratos, who I never saw online, minus the first 2 weeks that he was out.
Plus, whether you liked him or hated him being in, if you wanted to go to tournaments, you HAD to DL Freddy, as he is a tournament worthy character.
Despite my hate for guest characters, if I went to EVO, I sure as hell would HAVE TO have Freddy as it's more practice against familiar opponents.
So, those people who got him for the sake of beating all characters in the game are also factored into the Freddy DLC sales.
I can guarantee that a majority (IF NOT ALL) of Injustice tournament players, whether they like or hate Scorpion being in, have him downloaded as he is a tournament eligible character, and not always because they WANT him, per se.

Actually, the MAJORITY of people were in favour of regular kharacters that were long overdue for a return. Nobody really asked for Kratos or Freddy. Although you never explicitly said it, you were strongly implying that the majority of MK9 fans only bought it for guest kharacters and that was the reason MK9 succeeded. Seriously learn to read? Freddy and Kratos were the 2 characters that nobody ever asked for.
The most requested DLC characters were Cyber-Smoke, Rain, Fujin and Tanya, according to Twitter and various polls at the time.
