I'd say both Scorpion and Sub Zero. Even people who have never played Mortal Kombat know about "Get over here!" and the spine rip.
 
Before I ever played a MK game whenever I heard of it, I would always think of Sub Zero. Now I realize Scorpion seems to be more of the main guy but Sub Zero isnt behind him by too much.
 
Back when i started it was more about Raiden and Liu Kang, less about the Ninjas. I think Scorpion became the face of the franchise just recently with MK9

I would have to say Scorpion but everyone has a different image that pops in their head when someone mentions MK lol...Scorpion was the first person i played with now its dust all around him at the player select screen

I'm aware of this. I'm just comparing 50 Cent and G Unit to Scorpion and Sub-Zero. When you think G Unit you think most of the time 50 Cent even though there are 4 members. 50 Cent is the face of Unit. Scorpion is the face of MK.
 
I think they started out intending it to be Liu Kang and then possibly Kung Lao, but very quickly Scorpion & Sub-zero became the true face behing the mask, or something like that....

Certainly they are now the most recognisable characters to people within and without.
 
Here's a harder question: who are the 2 faces of Street Fighter. Here is a hint. one where's white and the other wears red..................... not tryna be rude but forreal? lol
 
both scorpion and subzero were equal

but ever since mk9, they have been whoring out scorpion in a painfully obvious way. Such as every promotional image has Scorpion killing subzero. Even the title screen has scorpion punching subzero. You think they would alternate it everytime you turn on the game, but no it's always scorpion who is winning. Pretty lame if you ask me. I'd rather them keep it a ravalry like it's always been instead of this scorpion worship.

so to answer the question, Yes. Scorpion is the new face. Where it used to be th both of them were the face.
 
I think that if y'all had the specific option of Scorpion & Sub-Zero, most people would choose the same. I'm partial to Sub-Zero, but without Scorpion, it wouldn't be the same, and I like Scorpion as well. Mortal Kombat without either one of those just isn't the same, both are the most popular of the franchise, and having to choose between both is a tough decision for a lifelong MK fan.
