According to MobyGames, Freddy has been in a game previously. A Nightmare on Elm Street was released for NES, DOS and Commodore 64. This screenshot is from the NES version.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think Earth Worm Jim was the first guest character in a fighting game.

I don't hate Freddy as dlc, it looks fun in 2 player mod but i am not a fan for guest characters because the game is "Mortal Kombat". Anyway if they wanted to add a guest character in Mortal Kombat WB have more characters who can fit imo, from Terminator to The Matrix... even Casey Jones from TMNT can fit better.

I just hate this argument that everyone uses for him being in.
That just doesn't cut it, for me.

As much as I HATE guest characters, I'd rather see someone from Killer Instinct, as DLC ONLY.
MK and KI were very similar in feel.

If I am not wrong, the first guest character in a fighting game is Akuma from SSFTII in X-Men: Children Of The Atom 94'.
 
What you fellas have to remember is that they are sure to be holding out on certain characters. For example, SPOILER ALERT, Shinnok is in the end of story mode, clearly setting up the sequel. I am highly doubting they would put such a major character from their next planned game into this one. You guys are getting upset about guest characters, but just think of it as them preserving the mystery. Maybe Tanya will have a huge part in the next game? I mean after all, basically all the heroes are dead, and most of the villains survived. I would assume frost will be in the sequel, she was shown in Raiden's visions at the beginning of the game after all.

All I'm saying is, perhaps they have to release a guest because they don't want to spoil any characters they are saving for the next game.

Even though I probably won't play as Freddie very much, I will still buy him, just because I really enjoy this game, and want to support the developers as much as possible.

really? didnt know, thats pretty cool. although, It would have been cooler the other way around, Wolverine in an old Street Fighter game IMO.

but guests are "Serius Buesnes!" to some folks and they become overly angered even at the slightest joking about guests. I hope that is not your case.

While I hate the idea of Freddy being in, I'm not getting grey hairs over it. LOL

I knew that you were just kidding.
I put the picture in as a joke / whimsical jab at how over the top it can get, once you start adding all these non-franchise characters.

For some reason I'd accept Spiderman in MK, just him, but I'd prefer a new MK character with spider powers.

spider man doesnt fit at all, and I find it funny someone who openly says they hate guests on every thread possible and relplies "EPIC FAIL" on people opinions, would want him in. Hypocrisy is not a good trait.

Venom or carnage would work better, but even they would be pushing it
 
Not to mention they will have to get Disney's permisson to use Marvel, as Disney owns Marvel. I don't think Disney or the people at Marvel would be too keen on seeing Sub-Zero rip Captain America's or Spiderman's spine out. The only Marvel charecther that I think would fit is the Punisher and only barely...

lol dont get me wrong I dont like the ideas of guest characters, but I said in another thread if I'd had to choose one I'd choose spiderman, and I know spiderman fits less than krueger but I like the spiderman "concept" a spider powers guy would be cool, not necesarelly spider man himself.

Im all for no guests, spiderman is just my option if I would have to choose one guest character without being able to choose "No guest"
