I mean the MK characters aren't just mindless thugs, take away their powers and they are still world class martial artists. If you took Ash's power (oh yeah, he has none) or Freddy (yeah did you see the Freddy film where he did all those martial arts....what do you mean no?) then they wouldn't stand a chance.

I'm not trying to go too far down the realism route, but all the MK combatants are still awesome warriors, even without their powers. The others aren't. They are icons and that is it. In the first NOES, when Freddy is brought into the real world by Nancy, he is defeated by Home Alone like weapons. With or without a chainsaw, Ash wouldn't last 5 seconds against Lui Kang or anyone on the roster.

This is what I find ridiculous about the new guests. Freddy doing combos, I mean wtf?

I'm against guests, but if they must happen, it'd be nice for them to have some sort of martial art background, not a horror one. MK isn't just blood and guts.

See, now that's a opinion on guest characters I can respect and almost agree with.

I honestly hope that, for Ashley (just blindly assuming they put him in the game) they make him less Combo-like and more like Baraka, Jax, and Stryker ish.
 
I really dont like the guest characters in MK idea, but if they are realesing more then Spiderman or Venom wouldn't be a bad idea.
 
I personally think Ezio from the Assassin's Creed franchise would make for a great guest character. First off, the games he has appeared in establish Ezio as an extremely well-skilled hand-to-hand fighter, which would makes him a good fit for a fighting game. As for how he would fit into the story, the whole "ripped through time and space" used in Kratos' bio would work well here, too. Furthermore, the character's extensive on-hand arsenal allows for a variety of combos and special moves that are crucial to Mortal Kombat's style of play. Meanwhile, his inhuman agility (he's in his mid-to-late 40's in Broterhood) shows he could pull of the acrobatic aspect to MK without expanding much on the character's already defined abilities. Meanwhile, if DLC continues to be released at a somewhat steady rate for the next few months, the release of the character could go along with the release of Revelations in mid November. And most importantly, who doesn't want to see those hidden blades in an X-Ray Move?

And to address the issue of who owns the intellectual property, Ubisoft is not the subsidiary of a larger company. In other words, the ultimate decision on the character's inclusion in the game (should that topic ever be on the table) would be in the hands of the developers of the Assassin's Creed games themselves, and not some media mogul who's never even heard of the character.

I gotta admit, I'm usually indifferent toward guest characters, but Ash seems pretty perfect. Kinda reminds me of Stryker, in that 'normal-dude-holding-his-own-against-the-otherworldly-hordes' kinda way. Plus, haven't had a single chainsaw in Mortal Kombat yet.

They have. They just aren't sure it's a viable franchise anymore. Ed Boon said he'd even be down to work on a new Killer Instinct on his Twitter page.

Whoa, I'm sorry man but if we get Wolverine it has to be classic 90's cartoon Wolverine, Not the movie one. As good as a job as he did in X-men orgins, Van Helsing is not Wolverine.

The face is not important, with movie wolverine I meant the black suit, and not the yellow and blue one, but what's wrong with Jackman? I love all of his movies, well the action/sci-fi/fantasy ones lol


PS - Didnt he portray Wolverine before Van Helsing?


Spiderman FTW! ( But it's very unlikely =( ), though I would be happy with a new legit MK character with spider powers like Spiderman.

Predator, Isaac Clarke, and maybe Jason i would think are cool. BUT, I really would rather just have no guests. But if I had to choose...
 
not really a "guest" character but Hydro was pretty sick in the new MK Legacy episode


granted we already have Rain so i dont think the game needs Hyrdo but still... almost like a cybernized Rain

Personally i got nothing against Hue Jackman, but having Wolverine without his mask, is like having Sub-Zero without his. IT'S JUST WRONG, YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT!!!!

and I agree with you on Spider-man, I would love to see him fight scorpion (Though a Spider sense counter move could cause problems in game eh?)

I do agree, I hate unmasked Sub-Zero and unhooded Smoke but Im more used to see Wolverine unmasked, though I dont mind Wolverine is still awesome, maybe they can do a darker version of the masked one, being black and blue I dunno, or maybe just a comic main costume and a movie unmasked alt.
