anyone else done playing online?

And as for Noob Saibot and other spammers being frustrating, check out the last match in the video. (I'm Johnny Cage... lol... I'm guessing you all knew this though).

Can Noob Saibot do anything better than that? I like Noob and zoning like that makes me laugh hearing the complaints over the mic, but it does get very repetitive for both sides. He gets too boring to actually play him with the smallest bit of seriousness, so I only play him for gags. I loved Noob/Smoke in MKD, but Noob in MK9 isn't as fun it seems.

HOLY SHNIKES! He's back! Nice seeing YOU again my friend, lol, I'm gonna have to look you up on LIVE some time! Good to know you're still around, after MK vs DC I thought a lot of the older guys got scared off for good. lol!

Well, I don't really go to any MK sites anymore. I still stop by at MKO every couple months, but I'm not involved with anything there. I still keep in touch with a select group of people from the MK days, but lost touch with most of the old school guys. As far as I know, nobody has talked to FatSatan for years. A lot of people leave and never look back. It seems I'm not quite capable of doing that myself. I met a lot of cool people because of MK, so I can't just forget about that.

Anyway, yeah... MK vs DCU, I was pretty against the whole idea. I rented it once, and while it wasn't terrible, the story mode was just horribly bad. Still, whatever. It served as a good stepping stone and learning experience before they tackled the new Mortal Kombat, so I think it ended up being worth it in the long run. I added my gamertag to my profile, so feel free to add me, dude. It's nice knowing I haven't yet been completely forgotten. ;)

I've had it with playing online. I can't stand people being only 5 characters and just spamming the same attacks and combs again and again. Last night I played a total of 11 matches.... the only characters were Raiden, Scorpion, and Kung Lao... after getting hit by a hundred supermans, and the same scorpion combo all night. I've decided that I'm done. I like to have fun. Not play cheap jerks.

You need to learn how to beat them. Just because you cannot defeat a certain play style (such as zoning/shooting projectiles) doesn't make it cheap. It just means you need more practice against that play style and adapt. I see a lot of Scorpions and Raidens, but usually people online arent good enough to be playing Kung Lao.

Welcome to "Competative Play". ;)

Those kids you played were probably pro level players who are damn good at "zoning" you. And don't question anyone. Spamming = Zoning. It's a pro tactic. It's called zoning now, and it's legitimate play so... if you say anything otherwise, prepare to get crucified by 'tournament players' who will get their elite friends to dump on you on here. Just a heads up my friend.
But you are not the only one who feels the same about what has happened to a once great community, that used to exist about a DECADE AND A HALF ago. Wonder where all the other cool cats like FatSatan and BarakaMK went? ;)

Like I said before, and I'll say it again. You need to learn how to play against those type of strategies. Its in the game for a reason. Cheap? Sure. Viable? Totally. You need to learn how to adapt to others play style. Zoning is totally different from spamming. Zoning is keeping your opponent away, but you arent afraid to get down and dirty. You pick the timing and when and how your going to do the move. Spamming is just constantly doing it without heeding punishment or blockers. Spammers would jump back, run away, then rinse and repeat.

By the way JC, from the video you linked, if that was indeed you, you need a lot to learn. You are definitely not 'the best Johnny Cage' on Xbox live as you claimed when you sent me your hate PMs lol. *Btw I still dont have an XBOX, and thats not an excuse. Lol.

It's all on you whether you enjoy it or not for whatever reason. I personally LOVE figuring ways out of stuff. I got upball spammed and lost to a kano recently. I went into lab mode with my friend Prince and he helped me find a way around it. The research is half the fun for me.

Someone in my same predicament. (A new player), will just say "THIS IS CHEAP!" and it will drive them away because they don't want to figure out ways around it. And the more you dumb down a game for the newbs so everything is easy to punish, the more stupid it's going to look at a higher level.

IMO you REALLY shouldn't be playing online if you don't got your basics down(Combos/knowledge). Then you go online play, You lose to some tactic. you ask yourself why was that working and how do I stop it? if you don't know then you lab it out and FIND something. Most people would just call something CHEAP so they don't have to adjust themselves to the game. They want the game to adjust to them. That's selfish. Fighting games are ment to be mind vs mind. Not play lazy vs another person who plays lazy and hope you win. If that's the way you like it you should just fight computers.

Well said, well said indeed. One thing I find really hard to fight against is Smokes teleport/Raidens torpedo. I play very aggressively, so whenever I knock an opponent down, I would dash towards them and get ready to set up another combo or grab. That usually leaves them wide open to wakeup move. I kept falling for those same things over and over, but the more I play, I start to realize its not the moves. Its my play style, and how I react to it that makes me lose. Now instead of just being aggressive during the whole match, I'd play defensive as well, and punish hard whenever I can. I find it much more satisfying.

ive said this before and ill say it again, if you dont wanna play scorpion or spammers stop noob hunting

lol, sometimes pro hunting is accidental noob hunting. I've played alot of people with really good records that we ass terrible lol.

Just make a room called "Experts" or something more than likely noob hunters and noobs will stay away from that room lol

Yeah everyone has a "Basic Style" It's sort of the way you play @ first. it's your "testing" grounds style. As the game progresses you take mental notes of patterns. and if things appear random (Button mashing) Keeping distance so they miss will generally help you win.

Basically it's style vs style. Then whoever can adapt quicker(without messing up execution also) wins.

In your case your style is countered by raiden/smoke and I bet probably nightwolf, and a few others as well. Your aggressive nature gets you picked off by super quick moves that are so fast you can't beat it out with a higher priority move or spacing because of how much space their moves cover horizontally.

I don't mind the same characters over and over again. i mean theres only 27 characthers (28 on ps3 and 29 if you count DLC) So of course you're gonna face the same characters. The spamming i understand though. I really hate it. So far I've faced Kabal, Kano, Raiden, Kung Lao & Scorpion spammers. But you just have to adjust to it. Learn how to get around that stuff. The spamming in my opinion takes no skill at all. Same button sequence over and over. Those people need to learn how to actually play the game. And everyone thats spammed me has been in ranked matches. Oh and I fought a Kratos spammer today. All he did was shoot arrows. Honestly what i hate about the online is finding matches. I literally waited 10+ minutes for a match today. I know because my controller shut off when i tried to push a button lol. Thats the worst to me. I can NOT seem to find a match for anything today. it sucks. and then when i play with friends we're always getting disconnected. I hate that too. They really need to fix that.

There are a few things you have to keep in mind when going into any online game:

People are dicks, they will abuse what they can.
People are vein, spamming and abusing moves to win a match isn't fun but they do it to pad they're score not for fun.
With so much traffic your almost never going to run into a perfect batch of people.

As for fighting the same characters just keep in mind who your up against. When I see someone choose Scorpion I expect his moves to be abused and intend to block and punish the hell out of them for trying to do it.

Most important thing I can say is: Never go into a fight expecting to win.

i love online..... and i dont see a problem there about scorpions or smokes or kanos.
At the beginning was it little bit annoyng...when 5 scorpions came in a row in ranked. But most of the time its just a pure fun and win for me.

This is funny lol. I play online and I never come across these Scorpion-spear-hellfire players you do, I get lots of spamming Shoulder charge-lightning Nightwolf's, teleport-grabbing Raiden's, Knife-kano ball spamming Kanos, and Wait-till-you-attack-me Kung Lao spinners. If you're getting beat by these crummy Scorpion spear-hellfire players you must really suck as bad as the online connection in this game.

It seems like this game will never have good connections online, so I think maybe people should focus more on playing offline with family and friends. Maybe post a sign in your neighborhood so that you can get together with other players in your community to compete against.

yea I'm starting to get tired of online play. Not only did my record and rank get all ****ed up from the patch and disconnects but there is still lag. I was never one to complain about online and I always told people to be patient but honestly this shit has been out for close to 3 months and the online is marginally better than it was at that time.

Not to mention online you typically play the same 5-10 characters over and over and over and they just spam moves. Sure I can easily beat kids like this but thats not fun.

i have yet to face a kano since the patch. now ermac is another subject.

I care less who I play online. I just hate that people rage quit in the middle of a ranked match. Sure it gives me a win but leaves a bad mark on the guy/gal who left. If you cannot handle an ass-whooping, then online is not for you.

As far as spammers are concerned, they can spam all they want. The only character that gives me problems when it comes to spamming is Kano. His Knife Throw/Cannonball combination is just a bleeding nightmare. I can destroy spammers but Kano gives me hell more than the rest of the cast.

id love to do that advertise folk to come roudn and play, problem is most of the people in my town are dicks

There is one simple feature that would solve all of this and its to do with the training room. Have a feature where you can control the training dummy, perform a move or combos and record it. Then have the dummy do this on you constantly. This feature is in the SF IV training room and its a God send, allowing you to figure out things that are trumping you in online fights. It makes players better, which is better for the community. Why this feature isn't in MK9 baffles me.

I've only played two matches.. tried waiting on them to fix it before checking it out, but I could not resist. Took Ermac into a couple matches. First one was Kung which was a good player. Took one round. Second match was against Kano. He wasn't bad. Took me off guard with an ex ball. Had no idea you could sit back and charge it, but I beat him.
