People with amazing Win/loss ratio's that hang out in the Beginner Room.

Imho a W/L ratio in player matches is pointless. It's alright in ranked matches, but besides that, it's not needed.

I agree with you there, but I also am starting to believe that even ranked W/L does not matter either. I have played somewhere around 10 ranked matches and I have played people with 500+ more wins than losses in 75% of my matches. Some were good and deserved the record, and others not so much.

It's a false perception. It's not the people with 1000/100 W/L ratios you have to watch out for. I play for a challenge, and whenever I try to find good players I search for people with 1000/800 W/L ratios. Because this way you can tell the person has challenged themselves, lost to certain characters, learned the matchups from their loss, and has overall been around the block. Losing is how you become a truly experienced player. No one has a 1000/100 W/L ratio unless they're either

a) Justin Wong
b) Raiden teleport spammers in the beginners room

Considering there aren't a lot of Justin Wongs out there, I see a 1000/100 W/L ratio as you being a scrub. So if anyone with a 1000/100 W/L ratio is reading this, you're being counterproductive trying to pad your win record in order to impress others.

True Words

I don't understand it. As with any game, any sport, and generally anything in life............if you want to get better you should be playing with people better than you.

Now that the online is working, I'm going to be playing everyone I can to try and get better. To hell with my "online record" which in reality means nothing.

I would not be impressed by a high win loss ratio in player matches. Just knowin you can choose your opponent and boost its obvious people will take advantage.

And for those talking shit on ranked players.. im friends wit about half the top 20 just from all the matches we've played and while some of the top guys on ranked aren't amazing the majority of us will scrape you. Just because you happened to win doesn't make someone bad. We are not perfect and will not always have the right mindset and we can make mistakes too.

haha i got to admit, you will see me in the beginner's room sometime and even though i have a decent record, you will find that it's easy to beat me...that is because i'm trying on new character that's why i'm in the beginner's room..and if i realized that you continue to challenge me after you beat my new character two times, i'll pick my main to even the score with you...i hate it when people think i'm easy and continue to challenge me to improve their winning record...

i don't care about W/L ratio..i care more about which character my opponent chose...if i play against someone who chose Shang Tsung, i know it's going to be a challenge because i never really play Shang Tsung to know his movesets and what he's capable of doing...people who chose the not so common character are more difficult to beat...if you're one of those who play smoke, scorpion, or ermac, you're going down lol

I'd like the W/L ratio don't shows in public so no one can presume about that and the other guys don't get "intimidated" by those numbers. I must recognize sometimes I play in beginners room, I have some "decent" WL ratio but i don't consider myself a good player, decent, but I know there's a lot of people better than me. Sometimes I go to begginer to test some characters i don't use and then go to other rooms to play with other people (usually i prefer "Shang Tsung Island" :P)

And there's a bunch of shitty players there who says "C'mon who wants to get raped" or "Nobody can defeat", thinks like that. It's pretty annoying so everytime I see people like that in beginners room I try to challenge and defeat they so the actual begginers can play in peace :P

I know sounds weird or dumb lol but we were all beginners when we begin to play this game.

It's fun to go in there and "farm the farmers" once in a while if you can get them to accept. Most are pretty terrible.

Funny, was thinking about this thread last night and my comment in it above. My record was 43-8 but about 35 of those wins were against friends. Last night I just accepted challenges from several different players who all had pretty strong winning records. I won 2 and lost 6. As I told my stepson "These guys are better than me. It's that simple. But I'll take my lumps and it will make me a better player in the process."

Being an old head who was a tournament level player in MK1 and MK2, it can be disheartening to lose so badly at times. But I know that to get better I'll need to just keep at it. :)

I really don't pay attention. But I actually go to the Beginner Room often, just because I'm not the best at Mortal Kombat, even though I've been into it for a long time.

i like seeing all the people who go into those rooms with a win/loss of 2345-284 although usually they just spam...and kick my ass T_T

usualy i challenge those fools who write on lobby.... who wanna get beaten or raped.
i love to challenge those stupid morons and win then.most of them are just spammers.

yeah there was this boy who was writing I AM THE BEST CHALLENGE ME, so i did , didnt stand a chance and i suck, he had a ridiculous win loss record too. The "lifers" as i like to call them are a weird bunch of people, spending all day every day, 3 hours sleep, a few cans of Mountain Dew Energy, pissing themselves almost certainley and living in there own filth just to create this insane win loss record that no one gives a shit about. These lifers are the people who probably beat up there bed ridden mothers everytime they loose, whacking them with the controller screaming at them. Do these folk not work or see the sun??!?! I think these folk go into the BEGINNERS loby just because usually if the others are full these tend to have the most folk in

I have to disagree, in ranked matches 8/10 matches are against people who are not good players...is very easy to have a good record in ranked.
In player matches you can choose your opponent, and if you always challenge people who actually can play the game...your stats will show what's your true ability.

I always challange people with more wins than losses, i wanna play for fun and a challange. My win ratio is around 450/150 atm, wich i consider to be fantastic as most of my losses are due to either extreme spammers or massive lag of the first few weeks this game as online.

And i agree most players with 1000/100 ratios are terrible, usually spamming a laming like crazy. I played a guy ( DarkRaiden something or other) who was a massive spammer and i understand why he has that record , teleport combo spamming with super long combos is very hard to beat. I also played his when i was baraka and he was kratos, we got to full screen distance, him knowing baraka has a slow projectile he spammed kratos bos 5 times , untill i managed to get close again. I dont understand why people like him play the game, it cannot be fun for either player and any1 who plays him knows how terrible he really is. He lacks the intelligence to realise he is ruining the game for every1 and that his record means nothing. Another guy i played with a similar record was a cyrax bomb trap spammer. I think that says it all.

On the other hand with have players like The_Gambit whos record is good but around 1000/400 i belive. Players like him are extremely good, mixing up there game with differnet combos, differnt players and no spamming. These players deserve there record and are a millions times better than the players listed in the above paragraph, although there record shows otherwise.

Do you really think your arguments are valid?
If you are Baraka (obviously very strong in close combat) and the opponent use Kratos, why should he come close? Suicide?
Spamming can't be the excuse for your losses...you guys MUST understand that what you call "spamming" is a perfectly legit tactic and if you lose is only because your opponent played better than you.

Stop whining, thanks.
