Why is Scorp so easy to use?

As i've been playing online I notice a lot of scorpion users (smoke,kung lao also). After playing a random person several times we were both pretty even I won 4 times he had won 3. After that he started picking scorpion and I couldn't beat him so I picked scorpion and beat his scorpion and it went on like that for a while. I'm not saying he's easy to master but he seems to be the choice for giving average players such as myself an advantage with the teleporting and easy to use combos.

Is this just a coincidence for me (i've only played about 45 or so games) or am I hitting the nail on the head? Any thoughts are welcome.

Edit: I usually use Kratos, Cyber Sub, or Sheeva
 
I think Scorpion's moveset was designed more carefully and given extra attention as he is such a popular character. He has fast moves and having a variety with his moves helps too. he has a projectile(spear), a ranged(hellfire), a teleport (teleport punch)

I think those with his speed makes him easy to fight with. I am not trying to knock the character or say people who main him are bad players. I think that shows that he was so carefully designed that most people can play him with no real issues.

The only annoyance I have is my roommate mains him and acts like he is the best scorpion player to walk the earth. Then I pick scorpion and kick his ass "well as long as scorpion won"..... Did i mention I moved out recently LOL
 
I think it is his easy to learn combos and his 3 special moves. Makes it real easy to fight with him when you only have to remember 3 things :)
 
I agree with you. There's no coincidence that he's the most used player online by far. He's been used (across all game modes) 100,000,000 times more than the next character, Raiden. He's the type of character that you can play a few matches with and start to get the hang of him. Online I play against Scorpion the most by far and about 95% of those were kids that only did the X,X,X combo or his 4 special moves. What's crazy is that every once in a while those same dudes will steal a round out of a match just getting lucky
 
People playing online using him usually cheat. Either using fast attacks, uppercut, or his GET OVER HERE!!
People also cheat with Smoke,Noob,Cyrax,Sub Zero, I could use about half of the characters.
Cheater Cheater, Move repeater.
 
When your playing tag ladder with a friend who's playing for the first time, it makes be glad that he's so accessible.

I know whatcha mean. My friend played for the first time and we went through the tag ladder. I recommended he play as Scorpion while I picked Sub-Zero lol.

You've got a LOT to learn about fighting games. I'll give you a tip, tho: if someone's repeating the same move all the time, that makes them predictable, so they should be easier to fight since you know what they're gonna do.

I don't think Scorpion is really that easy to use. Lao is a LOT easier to get the hang of. He's not hard to use, mind you, but people like him because he's so well-known and his moves are familiar.

I never said I couldn't beat someone who is doing that, I just said people cheat with those characters.
And I agree with the Lao thing.

You definitely have a lot to learn, there's no "cheating" with any of those characters. You just have to practice to get better and find a way around their attacks.

The only "cheating" so far is Cyrax's bomb trap and Kung Lao's overpowered spin move.

Smoke's Teleport
Scorpions GET OVER HERE
Noob's Shadow
Sub Zero's Sliding LK?
^^All cheating moves if you use them over and over again.

Like I said before, I never said I couldn't beat them/"get around them"
Just said there cheating characters with CERTAIN PEOPLE use them online.

I hate to break it to you, but that is not cheating

Whether or not those are cheating is arguable. Cyrax's Bomb-Trap CAN be countered and so can Kung Lao's spin move. The bomb-trap is relatively hard to do and if they CAN do it, at least it means they have practiced some. And as I say, it CAN be countered.

they have those moves, and each one of them have an opening to adjust

it would be cheating if the had the super armor every time they used it and it took up the entire screen

that's cheating

Those arnt cheating either nothing in a fighting game is just because certain moves or techniques are easy to exploit doesn't mean using them is cheating
