Eurogamer just posted up a new Raiden Gameplay Trailer that also has a bit of segments from the still mysterious Story Mode. We see that Raiden has retained most of his classic moves as well as introducing few new tricks like teleporting lighting attacks. We also get another good look at the revamped Courtyard stage. There also appears to be a mysterious Gray ninja in the background of the cinematic scene, who could that be?

that was frakin amazing! i don't think i have ever been this impressed by raiden since mk1. wow! the courtyard looks slick too!

O...M.....G...... Raiden looks so ****ing amazing. It's going to be so awesome to fight against him. I KNOW this will bring justice to all the old MK2 Raiden players out there. I'm seriously digging the way they made his combos. 10/10 5 stars. And to think we'll also get a Kabal video today... too good. InB4 Jade exploding over Raiden's awesomeness.

mmm.. not really liking Raiden ..good combo at the end.. and his x ray is rubbish... whats with that fairy ball at the end that knocks them over?........

Thats probably a generic background ninja.... with the awesome revamp of all the ninja characters (noob,ermac) i can't imagine that smoke would be this boring???

...it's the klassic costume of him, obviously, like Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Nice pic of "smoke".... but it looks to just be a standard ninja that is hanging around because there is another one in that video to the left of Liu Kang's face. Regarding the cut-scenes, looks like a video we'll see early in the game with Raiden getting his "memo from the future". The gameplay looks great... but the more of these I see I think we are in for a real treat as far a the story goes. I heard the story has already been leaked, hackd from the demo, whatever.... I haven't read any spoilers so I'm pretty excited.

Some captions from the story mode is nothing close to the full cinematic experience that will be this game's Story Mode. I haven't read them either as I want the full experience the first time I play it. Hours of cinematic scenes of the central storyline to the MK series is something we've never had before and I can't wait!

Raiden looks cool. I only have problem with his lighting ball - it looks a bit lame and not made of electricity (similar to Sindels' only in different color). Also the blast at the end of his X-Ray could have been bigger and stronger to have that "money shot" type of feel. But it's just nitpicking, I guess.

Oddly enough, I'm not blown away by Raiden. Yet its the one character that makes my blood boil every time I play against him. Its nice to see young Shang Tsung get his butt kicked.

I agree with you, Sub-Zero's ice ball doesnt look right to me either but yea, nitpicking.

It's awesome that he has his crazy-ass death screams back. He looks like a creative combo fighter.

That guy who looks like Smoke... there's a sort of haze around him. You know, like smoke? Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I totally knew we'd be getting Raiden gameplay next. Now I wonder which character they'll move on to.

something about THIS Raiden doesnt feel right to me.... didn't seem to get the right feeling when i watched his gameplay for some reason, maybe it was the sound?

Love this video. This might be a strange reference, but seeing the nighttime Courtyard (which looks awesome) reminds me of that old MK1 hack "Black Ninja Edition". I never played it, only heard of it, but apparently all the stages had black sky. Another interesting addition that hack apparently had, was Rainbow Blood. Which of course, is now a modifier in MK9. I wonder how many of the devs' ideas have been based off the various MK rumors.

After Raiden's videos, we will be getting some Shao Kahn action, not very exciting but that's fine. April 19th is closer and closer everytime =]

Not very exciting? I can't wait to see some Kahn videos. I hope he's as brutal as I imagine he'll be.

I'm sure that wherever Jade is right now, she just came buckets. And yeah, that looks like Smoke to me. I don't see the point in making a generic ninja look exactly like an existing ninja we all know and love.

im glad to see elderly SHANG TSUNG in the game, did anybody else noticed the spike holes on the floor in the middle of the arena in shang tsungs court yard? uhmmm stage fatality maybe. and later on in the video u can see a portal open to the far left when raiden is fighting kano on the rooftop. this video revealed alot of stuff for me, im so pumped, raiden's looks and combos look sick too.

Why did it say in stores on April 21st at the end of the trailer?

I must admit I'm not too enthusiast about Raiden's moveset, it looks a little generic... Looks like there is some kind of trap in the middle of the Courtyard...

I agree as well, raiden looks generic, something is off and I cant pinpoint it. Anyways the only raiden I ever liked was from part one, maybe its the original costume i miss, I never liked the blue costume of his. I hope his alternate costume is awesome

I agree with Raiden being 'off'. I believe, personally, that it is due to the fact that his electricity moves do no look like electricity, but ice balls. Bad particle effects are throwing off his 'persona'.

Raiden looks good but he is not as electrifying as i though he would be (no pun intended). Still im happy to see him in the game.

Amazing! I can't wait to play my main. It's a shame they didn't give him lightning instead of thunder bolts, it would have been better. I am glad they gave him back his MK II shock move. It's just amazing!

Woah. That was awesome. I'm liking this new style Raiden. I'm also totally appreciating the fact that all these characters seem to play ALOT different from one another.

The Courtyard night really looks amazing. Also, did I hear some "gotta suck my nuts"? Raiden's screams are back! I loved this video, Raiden's gameplay is not that generic as I thought at first with his vignette.

IMO that grate connects with Goro's Lair, and that could lead either to a stage fatality or it's just another example of the ultra high detail level.

he looks pretty ok, i think im too anxious for the character to reveal that this isnt sinking in completely just yet... i think

NRS Fix that stupid lightinng ball, cmon people Raiden equals lighting bolt , not slow, blue moving magic ball with haze effect. I have been very forgiving with what nrs has done with this game fatalaties, xrays, ect I really thought maybe most of the excuses came from early builds of the game. but really I thinK nrs is being just flatt out lazy with some aspects of the game, which is really sad because the art direction and some of the particle effects are just astounding How hard is it to design a freaking lighting bolt!!!!

The Aggie I disagree with you because that other ninja has a black suite, and it would seem strange that they would have guard ninja's look just like Smoke when they could easily give them a different look.

IMO, he's not a guard ninja but one of the many Lin Kuei warriors present. And you can't say he looks like Smoke, we've seen no gameplay or render of him and we've got no confirmation he'll get a Klassic costume as well. Might only be for those "present" in MK1.

PizzaMasta then it would not make sense for all the Lin Kuei warriors to look just like Smoke when they could easily have a different look and color.Just because we did not see a render of him does not mean that we could not see part of his suite in a video.Try thinking more clearly.

umm maybe because that is his actual look or maybe they just felt like having his classic look in the story mode.

I'll Say this.. His x-ray Electricity Ball looks horrible but his Teleport looks amazing. I too have never liked his look since MK1. If a store had his original costume available I would cancel my pre-order and buy it there immediately.

That actually sounds like a great idea if it's true. It's also possible to be over Dead Pool. It seems that the Subway and Street levels also could be on top of each other in theory. If it was true, then maybe a mk3 style punching through the floors would be possible. Also, did anyone notice in the Courtyard, that the masked guard follows the fighters as they move around the arena? It was a very interesting detail to me, where he could play a part in the game in the challenge tower just like Stunt Man, or even more. He already is seen in this video in the background with regular playable fighters. edit- Raiden's special move effects could change for the final game. They could be better than they are at the moment, but they aren't horrible.

He's cool. Digging the combos. The Raiden from the original trailer looked cooler though. Now KABAL.....Where you at....

Raiden looks beast, fast and powerfull.
