Electrifying New Raiden Gameplay Trailer

Eurogamer just posted up a new <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/mortal-kombat-vid-shows-raidens-story">Raiden Gameplay Trailer</a> that also has a bit of segments from the still mysterious Story Mode. We see that Raiden has retained most of his classic moves as well as introducing few new tricks like teleporting lighting attacks. We also get another good look at the revamped <b>Courtyard</b> stage. There also appears to be a mysterious Gray ninja in the background of the cinematic scene, who could that be?

that was frakin amazing! i don't think i have ever been this impressed by raiden since mk1. wow! the courtyard looks slick too!
 
O...M.....G...... Raiden looks so ****ing amazing. It's going to be so awesome to fight against him. I KNOW this will bring justice to all the old MK2 Raiden players out there. I'm seriously digging the way they made his combos. 10/10 5 stars. And to think we'll also get a Kabal video today... too good.

InB4 Jade exploding over Raiden's awesomeness.
 
mmm.. not really liking Raiden ..good combo at the end.. and his x ray is rubbish... whats with that fairy ball at the end that knocks them over?........

Thats probably a generic background ninja.... with the awesome revamp of all the ninja characters (noob,ermac) i can't imagine that smoke would be this boring???
 
Nice pic of "smoke".... but it looks to just be a standard ninja that is hanging around because there is another one in that video to the left of Liu Kang's face.

Regarding the cut-scenes, looks like a video we'll see early in the game with Raiden getting his "memo from the future". The gameplay looks great... but the more of these I see I think we are in for a real treat as far a the story goes. I heard the story has already been leaked, hackd from the demo, whatever.... I haven't read any spoilers so I'm pretty excited.

Some captions from the story mode is nothing close to the full cinematic experience that will be this game's Story Mode. I haven't read them either as I want the full experience the first time I play it. Hours of cinematic scenes of the central storyline to the MK series is something we've never had before and I can't wait!
 
Raiden looks cool.
I only have problem with his lighting ball - it looks a bit lame and not made of electricity (similar to Sindels' only in different color).
Also the blast at the end of his X-Ray could have been bigger and stronger to have that "money shot" type of feel.

But it's just nitpicking, I guess. :)
 
Oddly enough, I'm not blown away by Raiden. Yet its the one character that makes my blood boil every time I play against him. Its nice to see young Shang Tsung get his butt kicked.

I agree with you, Sub-Zero's ice ball doesnt look right to me either but yea, nitpicking.
 
That guy who looks like Smoke... there's a sort of haze around him. You know, like smoke? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I totally knew we'd be getting Raiden gameplay next. Now I wonder which character they'll move on to.
 
something about THIS Raiden doesnt feel right to me.... didn't seem to get the right feeling when i watched his gameplay for some reason, maybe it was the sound?
 
Love this video. This might be a strange reference, but seeing the nighttime Courtyard (which looks awesome) reminds me of that old MK1 hack "Black Ninja Edition". I never played it, only heard of it, but apparently all the stages had black sky. Another interesting addition that hack apparently had, was Rainbow Blood. Which of course, is now a modifier in MK9. I wonder how many of the devs' ideas have been based off the various MK rumors.
 
After Raiden's videos, we will be getting some Shao Kahn action, not very exciting but that's fine. April 19th is closer and closer everytime =]

Not very exciting? I can't wait to see some Kahn videos. I hope he's as brutal as I imagine he'll be.
 
I'm sure that wherever Jade is right now, she just came buckets.

And yeah, that looks like Smoke to me. I don't see the point in making a generic ninja look exactly like an existing ninja we all know and love.
