Your wishlist for MK10

This would be lovely. :)

Here's my prediction for the entire MK10 roster excluding DLC.

Plus Khameleon. She can be in the roster or as DLC. (I couldn't find a cutout so she had to be separate.)

NastyFreak I like you, I really do. You seem like one of the cooler ones here. However, I cannot even fathom how you think they will leave Sub-Zero out completely. If they do it would be friggin suicide. In some way, shape, or form, he will be there. I can nearly guarantee it. That doesn't mean frost either.

If frost is there and Sub-Zero isn't then fans will outrage, I know I will. That Kitana/Sub-Zero hybrid does not deserve a roster spot honestly. DLC should be calling her name. There are a ton of females who deserve a roster spot from that next generation. Ashrah, Nitara, Tanya, Li Mei, Sareena. They all deserve roster spots. Frost doesn't.

Sub-Zero has been in every game. I do not expect MK10 to stop that tradition. Especially considering Sub-Zero is the number 3 most played character on the official site. Only behind Scorpion and Raiden. Hell if he had a teleport I guarantee he would be ahead of Raiden too. Also to add to the crapstorm that would come from Sub-Zero not being there is the fact that we KNOW Scorpion will be there. That alone will make fans say WTF scorpion's there why not Sub-Zero?

I get the story killed him off, but I wouldn't count him out just yet. Some of those dead guys are coming back, maybe not all but some. There is no way that the next gen characters can carry it by themselves. I love some of those characters but we need to give them a chance to thrive with other popular characters before we decide they can carry a game on their own again.

I hate Nitara with all my heart but yes, I 100% agree

No reason to put Frost in but not Sub-Zero

It would really be like MK4 all over again if that actually happened (like when Jarek replaced Kano)

Glad someone agrees. It doesn't even make me mad when people say Frost will replace Sub-Zero. It just makes me say "Really? When did Frost become even remotely as popular as Sub-Zero?"

To me Frost is one of the least needed characters from that last generation. I know she has her fans, and I hate to be a hater but I hate her.lol. The blue female ninja schtick was already taken by Kitana, and we already had an Ice wielding character in Sub-Zero. No need for Frost at all. Granted, she gave a new side to Sub-Zero it seemed like and added to his story, but that's just about it. Frost shouldn't even exist without Sub-Zero being there. That's why I don't even know how she will come to be in MK10, and honestly I hope she doesn't come to be.

I think some of the MK4-MKA characters should be dead as a result of the "changes". That would be a simple explanation for why they aren't there and throw in a couple new characters, I mean a couple too not 5-6.

It's not that having the same colors alone makes them the same character

It's just that characters should have variety and be unique from all angles (gameplay, appearance, story, etc.). IMHO, movesets shouldn't be the only thing that differs between each character. You don't have to look different to be different, but it can go a long way for a character like Frost. That's her whole problem: while she can have a few moves that are different from Sub-Zero's, she still sort of has that same uninspired and bland feel to her. Nothing about her makes her feel different in interesting or significant ways from Sub-Zero besides gender, hence why it's always fair to just call her "Sub-Zero with tits"

Also notice that if you add some long black hair to her, she doesn't exactly look THAT different from Kitana. She's a blue female ninja. We already have one of those and her name is Kitana.

It's the same reason why people complain about adding Hydro as a character. He would essentially be a blue ninja. People get pissed about that. However for some reason we get ANOTHER blue female ninja and nobody notices. Frost is just unoriginal. It's kind of obvious to me that they just wanted to make Sub-Zero with tits. Like Metal Overlord already said. It's just unoriginal.

Frost is not a needed character.

I agree with you especially about Frost. I don't like her looks and style. But it would only make sense to put her in hopefully just to have her killed. And actually, DLC would probably be Subby because more ppl would buy him. If NRS was wise, they'd do that. As for the dead coming back, I'd love to see a source or link that would support that fact and I hope Jade, Kirana, and Sindel will be some of the ones that return.

Frost is not a needed character.

I don't agree with this, Frost is still needed whether unoriginal or not. Its not like NRS is going to bring her back exactly as she was, knowing fully well how that went. Look at the two Sub zero brothers itself, before MK9 we never knew their real names and we only vaguely knew how they a part of the lin kuei. Frost may have a bland backstory and unorginal movesets as of now, but she sure has the potential to be developed with a good backstory and moves, NRS just needs to put in the effort. I however agree that she shouldn't be there in MK10 just to replace Sub Zero, that doesn't even make sense and Im sure it won't happen. Also going storywise, Frost was about 18 yrs old during th DA timeline and Sub Zero recruited her after the events of MK4 and given the time gap of about 10 yrs between MK4 and MKDA, she should only be 8 yrs old as of Mk4's timeline and not even involved in the story. But then again she showed up on Cyber Sub Zero's database as a fully matured female in MK9 story mode(c'mon NRS, you should know your game's story better than us fans!). It maybe a retcon or something they forgot to consider, eitherway Sub Zero will return in MK10 for sure, he may or may not have a role in the story, but he will be a playable character.

Also if NRS starts killing of Mk4 to MKA characters citing 'changes in the current timeline' as their reason, I will lose complete respect for them as a developer team since it would be the laziest and lamest possible thing they could do. The 3D era of MK shined mainly because of their story, especially MKD and MKDA. Those two games are the ones that solidified Mortal Kombat as a fighting game series with an awesome story, the main thing that sets it apart from most fighters. Eventhough they featured many obscure characters, they still did form a part of the story and they need to return in the future in any form. If some of them has to die then it should be done in a natural and less forceful/less obvious way, only after they got their fair chance of being given another shot.

I don't know. I don't even think it makes sense to have Frost in there. She only showed up to take the Dragon Medallion from Sub-Zero last time. So, she's kind of a lost cause right now unless Sub-Zero is there. Also, if Sub-Zero is DLC it would still piss me off. Sub-Zero and Scorpion (As much as some may hate to admit it) deserve main roster spots over just about anyone. Every game franchise has their key players and Scorpiona and Sub-Zero are MK's. Sub-Zero does not need to be DLC no matter how much money it might make. Also, I'm going to call foul on that too because it would be such an obvious money ploy it's awful. I shouldn't have to pay five dollars for a character who should in all aspects be on the disk in the first place. Lesser characters should be DLC that way if you don't want to buy them you don't have too.

Also, there isn't a source that says the characters will definitively return. However, I take it as fact whether anyone else does or not. They killed Sub-Zero, Kitana, Smoke, Jade, Jax, Kabal, Stryker, Kung Lao, Nightwolf, Sindel, Shang Tsung,(Possibly, although I don't think so) Noob Saibot, and Liu Kang. That's dang near half the cast. Also let's not forget irrelevant characters who they will never do anything with and shouldn't be in over any of the above mentioned like Sheeva, Baraka, Kano, and yes even Reptile. I will not like a story with those guys as the heroes. Not because it's change, but because they have all constantly got their A**es handed to them over the last several years. What is supposed to make me believe they suddenly can step up and protect the world? I'll tell you what...Nothing. If anything those guys should set out a game. Also Nasty, Tremor will not make main roster. Neither will Kia or Jataaka. I'm thinking that's more of a hopeful list than an accurate one.

Tremor will be DLC if anything, while Kia and Jataaka will make a cameo and maybe make it into challenge tower if it makes a return. Other than that they won't make it. Sareena has become far more important than those two, thus why she deserves a roster spot. Kia and Jataaka...not so much. Also to me, maybe not others, but to me Dairou and a couple others are very questionable to be in the next game. Darrius may make it, but I don't think he will be high priority. Drahmin and Hsu Hao have also been blacklisted by Boon on twitter. So several of those guys just won't make it. As much as I hate it Taven and Daegon will probably return at some point because they played such an important part in Armageddon. Moloch may not return either. Jarek is kind of iffy to me too because he didn't appear again after MK4 until Armageddon, and he only appeared then because he had too.

Overall I would take these people off of your list as guaranteed

Jarek
Darrius
Dairou
Kano
Baraka
Sheeva
Hsu Hao
Drahmin
Tremor
Kia
Moloch
Jataaka

I think Frost will probably be there, but Sub-Zero will be as well. Also out of all of the lackey's of MK9 I see Reptile as having the most potential to actually try and help the good guys. Kano and Baraka have always just been evil bastards and I don't even think I can buy them as good. Sheeva is just not really liked by many so she probably won't be back either. That's my reasonings behind those two being left off of my list there. Although they aren't on my roster for the next game.

Listen Motaro was my favorite Sub-boss and he just got axed in a cutscene. They could show a series of cutscenes showing some of the past characters dying and that it happened because of Raiden changing things. I love the story it's my favorite part of MK. HOWEVER, I think MK's roster needs a clean up. A big portion of these characters were just not needed and MK has a large cast, I mean large, over sixty something. That's waaaay too many. They should cut that down by about twenty and that's not starting with their most popular characters like they did in this game. That should start with your lesser liked characters and if Khan's invasion somehow managed to kill some of the lesser liked characters I'm not going to complain.

You are forgetting the fact that characters make the story, without them or with majority of them dead there would be no story. Plus who would really like to see the same set of characters going at it again and again? Are you telling me you want another MK9 for MK10?

Plus Raiden changing things theory doesn't even make sense. The reason Raiden kept getting visions from the future was to ensure that his amulet stops breaking in the future/Shao Kahn not emerging as the victor during armageddon. So he had to change something in the present to prevent that outcome, which he did, which in turn caused his amulet to repair itself, which would mean that the future which we saw in the beginning now ceases to exist. Hence there is no reason why Raiden should keep getting any visions from the future Raiden we saw in the beginning since that event does not happen. Also the visions Raiden got were specific ones (smoke automation, Johnny Cage's death etc), he did not get a full movie like viewing into the future. Thus there is nothing really Raiden can ''change'' in the next game.

Also I think many are jumping too fast into conclusions here. Yea, a bunch of fan favorites died but its not like they have been axed from the series forever. They are more likely to return especially in MK10, since their souls now belong to Shinnok. There are lots of things that can happen, they can be saved and resurrected, made into Shinnok's pawns, or they create an uprising in the Netherealm against him, anything can happen each of which has equal probability of happening. As the saying goes, No one really dies in MK.

Normally I agree with you Flyman, but I don't see how Frost is needed by this logic? You could pretty much apply the same exact thing to characters like Kobra and Jarek without any problems. I know that based on your based posts, that isn't what you're trying to say, and Frost can be developed with a good backstory and moveset, most certainly. However, I wouldn't say that a character is actually needed based just on what they could be, since that could mean almost anything

Also about the Frost appearing in Cyber Sub-Zero's database thing... I think that in particular was just a simple cameo, I don't think it means anything really about how she might appear in the future games

She going to be in another future title get over it lol.

She plays a roll just like everyone else. and once agains she's not a subzero carbon copy. May have borrowed moves from previous titles but her existence also allows for more unique ice play in future titles. A
Single character can only have so many moves. And
Your crazy if you think she's gonna be a clone of subzero gameplay wise.

nrs cared enough about her to have her in raidens initial visions.

By 'need' I meant in the sense that she has to be present in the new timeline when her part of the story comes especially if nothing has changed with respect to her compared to the original timeline. Although characters like her, Jarek and Kobra will have to be developed/changed alot to have some appeal, the starting roles they play will more or less remain the same. Taking them away would create unnecessary voids in story and their connections to other characters. I know that they didn't really have a huge role to play and taking them away would not really hinder the main story, but for me it is the little things like this that should be given emphasis and detail along with the main plot to get an amazing overall story.

Its not really like saying a character is needed based on what they could be, these characters are already rooted into the story and they could be anything, but they are still in the story and should be brought back in whatever form feasible(playable character/cameo/cutscene etc).

I may sound like Im blowing up the importance of obscure characters, but in my view they are important as well, if not so much like thepopular ones.:p

I quoted that just to point out how the previous and current timlines are conflicting. Its a cameo indeed, but as far as the MK9 storymode is concerned, she is in the Lin Kuei already and that too a grown adult, when in the original timeline she was just a kid around this time.

Also some cool oriental chinese concepts I found for Shujinko and Ashrah. I particularly like Ashrah's, it could be a good concept for her.

Critical, it's obvious that she isn't a complete Sub-Zero copy; that would be like saying the Melee "clones" are complete copies of the characters their movesets are similar to. The point is that in her current form, keep in mind, despite a few differences, IMO, she still isn't feel very unique or interesting at all. She doesn't have much of a story beyond being power-hungry, and IMO, nothing about her aesthetically is really all that interesting or unique.

As I said before, there's more to a character being unique in my eyes than just gameplay. They have to have interesting backstories and motives that drives their overall stories in interesting ways, a badass look that fits them and only them in addition to a unique and fun moveset

Ah yes I see, I totally agree that the little details matter but I disagree, axing a character like Kobra completely from the series wouldn't take away anything from the overall story that hasn't already been at least touched upon before, big or small. At least with Frost she's another warrior of Cryomancer descent, and since we don't know much about that race, she can be used along with Kuai Liang as a way to expand upon the history of that race. Even with Jarek at least we know he's the second-in-command of the Black Dragon (and also the last member other than Kano), so there's quite a few things you could do with that.

Kobra adds absolutely nothing meaningful to the MK universe. Nothing. He had no relationships with any other characters than Kabal, his boss, and Kira, his co-worker, so to speak. He didn't do anything significant, either; even Hsu Hao destroyed the Outer World Investigation Agency. He's just a random Black Dragon crony that happened to get the playable character, in my eyes; hell, even Apep from Deception's Konquest added more to MK than Kobra ever did. So, unless Havik manages to convince Kabal yet again to return to the Black Dragon (which I would hate, but whatever), there's no reason to bring him back in any form other than just giving him a random cameo, because nothing about his story even deserves reference or recognition

Also some cool oriental chinese concepts I found for Shujink and Ashrah. I particularly like Ashrah's, it could be a good backstory for her prior to her becoming a demon.

Wow! Those are cctually pretty badass

Maybe I can actually remember her more often if she looked like that, hehe

Thank you, sir. ;-)

Plus who would really like to see the same set of characters going at it again and again? Are you telling me you want another MK9 for MK10?

I would want the AT LEAST the Original 7 back in MK10.
Can't have an MK without Sub Zero or Scorpion, and it's bull-shit that Liu Kang's last appearance was as a zombie, and they FINALLY bring him back in an original MK title just to kill him off again.

I understand you guys are die hard Sub Zero fans, but if he does return what could he do to advance the new timeline? Back in the old time line he really did things that upped HIS own side story instead of helping advance the old timeline.

Sub-Zero?

All he needs to do is do exactly what he did post-MK4. Focus on reforming the Lin Kuei

Then you'll have the old Sub Zero back again, you don't want to try something new with Sub? I mean yea, he could get his medallion and Armor back n stuff but other than that you don't want a crazy twist in his story? No, I don't mean becoming a Cyborg again :|
