Yeah. MK bosses have always circumvented their shitty AI by being incredibly cheap.
Special traits, impossible to juggle or throw in some games, massive damage, armor and reading inputs can't make up for the fact that you can kill MK9 Shao Kahn without getting hit by jumping over him on his wakeup. He does the slow ass uppercut every single time
 
Killer Instinct's AI is pretty sick. It actually feels like you're playing a human with how they taunt and jump around inbetween rounds.
 
It did follow the story of it. Armageddon was so bad and completely destroyed the story and canon that they had to retcon everything with MK9

Actually, according the the close minded MK fans, it's been ruined since MKDA or MK4. MKA just happens to make it worst. So the whole blame doesn't go on MKA. Lol.

They didn't even write the damn bios for more than half the roster. On top of that, the ending to the Konquest mode was nothing more than a bait and switch.

Either way, technically still apart of the story in some sort of wave.

Speaking of story, I'm wonder if they're gonna have the whole this can't happen in this timeline again.

The story that Deadly Alliance and Deception built was top notch. The absolute pinnacle of Mortal Kombat's story. Then Armageddon comes out, the team at Midway decided to make a god damned anthology game canon, and they destroy the story because of it. Every single story arc that had been built up, was scrapped to make way for a useless character like Taven to take the spotlight.

Yup just jump over him, wait for his uppercut, and follow up with one of your own, rinse, was repeat until he dies

Exactly. MKDA and MKD's stories were amazing and both of those games were great as well. When I first started playing Armageddon I thought it was great cause it was like Mortal Kombat Trilogy 2. Then I realize just how bad that game was. Nothing in that game made sense. The story was absolutely atrocious, the canon was destroyed to bring everyone back and the endings... oh my god the endings. They were so half assed. Even the announcer reading the endings at the end sounds like he doesnt care.

You could tell the game was a rush job cause Midway was bleeding money at that point.
 
I agree that Armageddon was incredibly half-assed. Not only for the horrible story, ladder endings, terrible characters in Taven and his brother whom I forget and STUPID create-a-fatalities, but also like most of you said, ruining the awesome story development of MKDA and MKD.

I will say however, the ONLY thing i liked from Armageddon was Kreate-a-Fighter. I love games that allow me to put myself in the game, especially my favourite Mortal Kombat. It does need refinement however, with a better combo/special moves/fatality system. Imho it has extreme potential IF done correctly. They should not be allowed online however. Tbh, if it takes too much time and resources from the game development, I'd prefer they just left it out and focused on refining other aspects of the game, such as its story and single player content.

That being said, MKD was my favourite MK game ever, before the release of MK9. Its Konquest mode was one of the best things to happen ever. 6 fully explorable realms. Side-quests. Open world RPG style with 1v1 combat for battles. Chess/Motor/Puzzle Kombat. Yes please. I was also a fan of the combo system. It felt more realistic as opposed to juggling people in mid air lol.

That was absolutely my favorite part of MK Armageddon and I would love for KAF to return but its probably hard to do while keeping the story canon.

This is also why I would LOVE if Netherealm created a stand alone, non canon, adventure/RPG fighting game. I think if they could pull it off, it would be amazing.
 
I don't really like creating characters. It's okay sometimes I guess, but I'd rather just play as the default characters that we've come to love over the years.

but for MK10 I want some classic MK4 costumes. I'd love to see MK4 Reptile. I'd also like it if they incorporated weapons into the combos somehow. Not weapon stances, or pulled out weapons, but maybe like how Scorpion used to pull out a weapon in UMK3.

Armageddon was terrible, but Midway (at the time) also thought that they weren't going to make anymore MK games from that point on, hence why they went with an Armageddon story.

MKvsDC was basically a "here's what we can do" resume from Midway to WB, and likely why they didn't do the originally planned MK8.




As for MK9:
Welp, NRS had to clean up the mess that they made in MKA (since Armageddon was the last previous MK only game), and explain how everyone is back, so the easiest way to do that was time travel.
