When I think of Kano, I think of Rich Divizio NOT Trevor Goddard

look I have NO problem with how kano looks in the new game I think he looks awesome, I just wish they wouldnt make im a bumbling idiot, i want him to be a pyscho murderer

the movie character was dumb...thats the problem I have with the retconned potrayal of kano....He is this dumb ass chav thug, or aussie dumb ass...

hes meant to be a sly, cunning and skilled warrior and criminal and they make him out to be a stupid coward..Not a hard ass leader or member of a huge criminal organization, id love him to be be that...hell make him british/japanese...just make him serious and not a dumb ass that gets his ass handed to him all the time...I mena he is meant to be a villain not a lil punk *****

I mean, I cannot honestly see the real kano, asking sonya for a "break" , I cant even see him letting her live....

Oh no gosh no! He needs to stay the way he is! Not looking like Chuck Norris.

I said I loved how he looks now, I just hate how they make him seem, personality wise

I agree with everything you said: Kano should be a brutal, merciless son of a *****.
But we have to wait until we know his background and combat style in the new game: I hope it's similar to Nightwolf' style, with many knife-based attacks and other violent techniques.

I like the Trevor Goddard look because he was the one that really brought Kano to life. Divizio just introduced the character as far as I'm concerned (but I've never been a big fan of his anyway, I think he's annoying).

I like Trevor Goddard(RIP...) It's cool that Kano looks like him. Anyway, it's his MK3 outfit. So I think it's a good combination! As alternate costume it's going to be his white MK1 outfit.

Sorry if i spelled Trevor's name wrong R.I.P.

But I'm kind of pissed they used Kano's mkvdc head model in mk9. That head model was good for mkvdc because to a casual audience they may remember the movie and instantly know that its Kano.

But for mk9 they should have just used a new head model like a bald dude with a 5'oclock shadow kind of like Jason Statham or Rich Divizio.

Anyone else dislike the lazy approach of putting the mkvdc head on kano in mk9?

im a huge Kano fan and while i did like his MKvDC look i agree with you i think it was kinda lazy to give hime the same face. I was hope for more of a look thats like my Avatar or like u said, bald n scruff beard. But i do like his attire. Maybe for an alt he'll be bald. Either way im happy they finally confirmed him on the roster

I like both, but I have to agree. Whenever I think of Kano I imagine him bald, he could have hair and a beard in every mortal kombat for the rest of time, but I will still always picture him bald. Im not stressing over the way he looks in this game, its a mashup of Kano from MK3 and Kano from MKvDC. However, they will probably do a retro outfit....I'm hoping. so keep your chins up buddy boi's :D

Oh god how I wish that game was made. I don't want them to put those designs to waiste. I think Skorpion from the "mk8" series looked the best and wish they would make all of these skins for your kharakter

i love kano - he has always been my main - i and i've always loved the way he's looked throughout all the games - but his look in mk9 is my favorite so far, and i think alot of that has to do with the fact that I was just so pumped when he was announced. lol

I agree to an extent.

I do think Kano has been downplayed a little too much in the game's canon. It culminated into MKDC, where his portrayal was way off. He was shown as thuggish, a two-bit thief-type with a cool cyborg eye. That's not who Kano's supposed to be. I'm not saying he should be the scariest, most powerful character in the game; however, he should be very intimidating and off-putting, and a little darker. I should genuinely believe that he would be capable of sticking his hand into someone's chest and ripping out their beating heart - and that's not the impression I got in watching him in MKDC.

He supposedly terrorizes the whole planet as the leader of the Black Dragon. He's supposed to have the populace in grips of fear, otherwise why would the Special Forces be intent on wiping them out? He needs to be shown as bloodthirsty, merciless, a lover of violence and terror. They haven't given him enough chances to be that way in the game. The only time he was responsible for another character's demise, it was a "trickster" kind of thing. They should have let him kill Sheeva in MK3 fair-and-square, not by "pretending" to be her friend so Khan could sneak-attack her later -_- That was really stupid, IMO. It would've been the perfect chance for Kano to be taken more seriously, having killed a Shokan warrior to gain Khan's favor. We would've seen him as a much more capable villain if that had gone down.

The only time they've given Kano what he deserves is in MKDA, portraying him as an excellent general to Khan's armies. He pushed Kitana's army back not only once, but twice, stopping her from getting to Khan. I enjoyed seeing his scheming, intelligent, cunning mind at work. But then they dropped the ball yet again by making him seem inferior physically. He fought Kitana, and ended up fleeing the fight when her attention turned to Goro's death. WTF???!!! I'm not saying he should've mopped the floor with Kitana, but Kano should've been a good enough fighter to hold his own and keep fighting. He could've at least dealt a blow to Kitana while she was distracted, and then be fought off by her allies. Something like that is a lot more "Kano" than running the **** away for no damn reason.

In the new game, please make Kano darker and more capable as a villain. When he is fighting in the tournament, give him his share of wins, show us that he's a very capable and brutal fighter. Pre-tournament, show us his sinister side, and why the Special Forces are worried about him and his clan. And during MK3, show us again what an excellent General he is by having him lead Khan's extermination squads. Maybe he can even be the one responsible for Kabal's mask!! THAT would also make us take him more seriously, and I'd much rather have Kano be the one who disfigures Kabal (especially given their connection and his switching teams) than some nameless "squad". Such simple choices that would do so much for this underrated character!!

Finally, his final fight with Sonya at the rooftop in MK3 should be epic! Not MK1 movie; EPIC! He should pull out all the stops, and have a real "I'm gonna finish you off once and for all" mentality that shows as he aggressively charges at her, intent on wiping her off the face of the Earth not only for Khan's sake (it's revealed in MKDA, I believe, that Khan specifically wanted him to kill off Sonya) but for HIS sake as well - She is standing between him and the glory of the Black Dragon, for pete's sake! The fight should be one of the most memorable ones of the new canon. When he's leg-grabbed off the rooftop and rips that chunk of hair off of her head, and is falling to his death while cursing her name, we should all let out a big exhale because of how totally awesome that scene just was!

This is how Kano MUST be!

This was AWESOME!

"well done" In Steve Ritchies voice lol

OK, just a few things to add here.

Kano was not the leader of the Black Dragon, not during MK-UMK3 at least.

Mortal Kombat said:
A Mercenary, Thug, Extortionist Thief - Kano lives a life of crime and injustice. He is a devoted member of the Black Dragon, a dangerous group of Cut-Throat Madmen feared and respected throughout all of crime's Inner Circles.

Kano was thought to have been killed in the first tournament. Instead, he is found alive in the outworld where he again escapes capture by Sonya. Before the actual Outworld invasion, Kano convinces Kahn to spare his soul. Kahn needs someone to teach his warriors how to use Earth's weapons... Kano is the man to do it.

Even in MK5 (DA) we see Kano as not having "control" of the Black Dragon,
Mortal Kombat 5 said:
Kano had been defeated in a battle with the Special Forces agent Sonya Blade during Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm. Shao Kahn incarcerated Kano for his failure, but later hastily promoted him to General when he prevented the Emperor's assassination at the hands of the Shokan warrior known as Sheeva. With the merging of Earthrealm and Outworld not yet complete, Shao Kahn ordered Kano to portal back to the last remnants of Outworld to gather more troops for the final push agaisnt the Earthrealm opposition.
Kano had remained in Outworld and served as General of Shao Kahn's military after the retreat from Earthrealm. For years he enjoyed the power of commanding the greatest army in Outworld. But Shao Kahn's power was fadind and there was a chance that Kitana's forces might spell the Emperor's undoing. When the sorcerers Shang Tsung and Quan Chi confronted Shao Kahn in a surprise attack, Kano decided not to interfere and remained hidden in the shadows to ally with the winning side. Once Shao Kahn was defeated, Kano offered his allegiance to the Deadly Alliance.
In fact, it is Kabal who actually takes the helm of the Black Dragon

I had left the Black Dragon and all that it stood for... but to some I would forever remain associated with that despicable organization. Eventually, the Red Dragon clan found me, and I was defeated by Mavado. He left me for dead and took my hookswords as his trophies. As the life trickled from my body, a stranger rescued me: a cleric of Chaos who called himself Havik. He conviced me to return my clan to its former glory. Never again will I deny my devotion to the Black Dragon.
Inspired by Havik, I set out to find and kill Mavado of the Red Dragon. His organization is secretive, but not invisible. It feels good to have hookswords in my hands once again. I have since recruited young, skillful warriors to fill the ranks of the new Black Dragon clan. I will now lead my fellow Dragons to Outworld, where Havik has a task for us. It will be an excellent opportunity to test the abilities of my young comrades -- and weed out the weak ones.

Going waaaaaay off base and moving into the MKvDC arena still has him listed as a "member" of The Black Dragon
Mortal Kombat 8 said:
An undisciplined but deadly thug, Kano is a killer for hire. His allegience to the Black Dragon clan has been profitable, though dangerous--exactly the way he likes it. Kano joined Shao Kahn's ranks during the invasion of Earthrealm, forsaking his own realm for personal gain. For his crimes, he is constantly hunted by the Special Forces agent Sonya Blade. Though he enjoys the chase, he knows that one day he will finish her in Mortal Kombat. That day might soon be at hand.

So, Kano is only a thug, low-level, member of The Black Dragon. He's merciless, yes, but by no means does it state that he's actually all that cunning. At all times he's only looking out for himself, which makes him cutthroat, but not a leader (aside from Kahn's armies, where he fails at that as well).

Something you all have to remember is that it's not the Special Forces that want Kano captured so badly, it is LT Sonya Blade, a member of the Special Forces, who wants him captured. This is because he killed her old partner (that I believe was alluded to as a love interest in the comic).

As far as Rich vs Trevor... I love Rich and all that he's done for the series, but Trevor wins it. I'd love to see an Aussie/Jap blend of him as the model for Kano. I think he played the character very appropriately in the movie with the background the games has given Kano. Ruthless and without morals, but constantly looking out for himself while also enjoying the little conflict he and Sonya share. He gets more elation out of her torment than he does actually kicking her ass because he is sadistic. He's also a bit weaker than the average MK combatant and more likely to turn tail and run to save his own hide. He's definitely not going to go honorably into death.

How was that? :)

Just beautiful K1LL, you brought a tear to my eye with your post :P. You and LeoBrZ81 deserve rep so here you go!

I always think of MK1 Kano rather than the balding MK3 Kano. In my opinion, they mixed the best traits of both versions in the new MK: the facial patterns of MK1 Kano and the garb of MK3's. I highly approve of his design, possibly the best we have seen out of them all.

Trevor's Kano has a deeper story since it's a movie. We can't compare it to Rich's Kano who appeared in a couple of ending game pictures.
On a physical point of view I prefer Divizio, simply because I have played MK over and over again and his Kano image is printed in my head. But if I see both actors live, I might choose Goddard because Rich (5"9') isn't as big as Trevor (6"1) (That's why Rich was not selected for the casting of MK 1 the movie).
I won't take in count that parameter because all MK (the game) actors are very short (with Brian Glynn - Shao Kahn- winning the Gold award with 5"11' - 155cm).
