What I've noticed with this board

Some people have strong opinions of one issue over another. That's human nature...nothing you can do about it. However, if someone makes a post that comes across as misinformed, other people have the right to rebuke it. I don't get people who are touchy about arguments. Nobody is immune to criticism, and civil discourse encourages people to think harder about their stance on a particular subject. I try be to be civil as possible, but I'm not here to kiss anybody's ass. Honestly, I think "elitism" is a word thrown around too much, often by people who don't want to admit their own ignorance.

Then what is justification for anything? The reality is elitism is something that anyone who deals with people in any manor deal with every single day of our lives along with NUMEROUS other unfair and cruel things in life. Thats just how it is, no one lives in a Carebear / Strawberry Shortcake society.

Does it make it right? No but it is an unfortunate reality.

I agree. If you actively seek out a public gathering where opinion runs rampant, then there will be both good and bad interactions. The whole "opinion/bu**hole" analogy--everyone has one, and some of them really stink. Is it right? No, but you have to deal with it constructively. I've had an instance of running afoul of another board member here for one of my first posts regarding what I thought wasn't a spoiler. I was chastised for it, and, at first took offense. But, after thinking about it, it was when spoilers were at the height of their rampancy. I was probably one of the last straws for this individual or they were having a bad day, etc. I came to realize that not everyone interacts the same way with other people, especially somewhere where there is such a diverse age range between members. You have to take opinions on here with a grain of salt and move on to the next topic. Okay, I'm getting off the platform.

BTW, I once had to dress in a Carebear character costume for a neighborhood block party...in 85 degree F weather in August...with a ton of kids trying to punch and kick me, and trying to stick their hands in the mouth of the costume. That is really a society I don't wish to visit again.

I know I haven't been a member long but I've noticed this issue since I joined. I don't mind it too much but it is a little bit out of control. You guys say you'll find Elitists everywhere and you have to get used to it but the reality is this site is the worst case of it that I've personally seen. There are a few members here I've noticed like to boss people around and state their opinion as more important as if they are more intelligent or mature. I see it in alot of threads and it's just annoying but all you can do is ignore it bc if you point it out or call someone out for it its just gonna start an argument. I do like most of the members on this site, though. Theres just 5 or 10 of you more tenured members that I have to just get used to ignoring lol.
 
What I've noticed on this board, and every other board, is that things get blown out of proportion and just taken too seriously. There's a difference between being passionate, and acting like you've got something to prove. I've been guilty of such behavior myself before, but I do my best to avoid it. People just need to relax and stop being so touchy. And any member who loves to put people down doesn't belong here.

lol no you're good, although if I ever play you online and you beat me with Johnny Ima be pissed lol my friend kicks my ass with him in the demo. it's that damn overhead kick he has, gets me everytime.

Shit, I hope you dont ignore me! lol. Im always open to everyones opinions, I just get annoyed when people be foolish on purpose and think their opinions are fact.

I'm not going to ignore anyone, I guess I should have said I'll ignore certain posts. some people can be asses one day and the next day be totally cool. I'm guilty myself, the other day I almost started an argument bc I took a comment personally.

This is one of the nicest boards I've ever been on, and there are a few elitists by my standards.

I don't see much wrong with elitism within reason. If you understand certain concepts and try to explain them over and over and over but certain people just don't get it, then why wouldn't you become indignant towards those people? Yeah, an entire forum full of them would suck, but it's the extremely smart that keep the extremely stupid from confusing everyone.
