what characters are you liking so far?

Its funny. I thought I would main Liu kang cause he was my main in mk9. But he plays so differently in mkx and I'm finding it difficult to string combos with him. So far I'm liking scorpion and Kano the best
Yeah, it's very interesting how no one seems to be pick up from MK9 and play. You have to re-learn characters, some of whom are very different, and the variation system adds a lot to that.

Quan Chi feels very different from MK9 as well. He's a lot slower and less combo-y I find.

So far I've tried Cassie (Hollywood), Kitana (Mournful), and Mileena (Piercing). Out of all the 3, I did not lose one match with Mileena. With Cassie, I lost with Goro and Corrupted Shinnok. With Kitana I lost with Goro. I hope I get better. And I love the first Black Dragon Faction Kill!!!

So far my best character is Raiden tough it might be cuz I mained him in MK9... still pretty similiar. Been trying to learn Shinnok but my friend destroyed him aka I sux with him xD Maybe Quan Chi will be my savior, still have to fully test him out.

Sonya: Really surprised me, as she turned out to be extremely fun to play as in story mode.

Johnny: Because he's Johnny Cage.

Erron Black: I love his marksman variation just cause of the rifle, reminds me of a repeater in Red Dead Redemption.

Ferra/Torr: Easiest character I've used so far, but they're also pretty effective in the variation with boss toss.

Mileena: Been a Mileena fan for a long time, and her fatalities are some of the best in the game, the second one especially.

Ha. Wow. Someone's sure mad about Ed Boon doing a nice thing for the players who struggle with some of the button combos. Guess what? You don't have to use them. They're there for players who want to use them ;D QQ moar, you nob.
Those who do use them should be given the Pete Rose Treatment!

I love Goro, I don't care what anyone else says. The gameplay is intriguing, especially with Tigrar Fury. I've been a big fan of him for a long time anyways, especially with the mythology of the Shokan and stuff.

I only played Sub-Zero briefly in training, but I like the feel of him so far. Takeda, Kotal Kahn, Kenshi, Shinnok, and Quan Chi also stood out to me. I got my ass kicked by Mileena online, to the point where I was suspecting the guy of hacking...lol...I think she may need balancing.

Also, anyone who said Ferra/Torr would suck was wrong.

I did some nice combos in his Warlock variation.

Incidentally if you're after koins and XP, play some of the towers (in particular Living, Endless and Survival) as Goro using the Shokan/Dragon kombat kard bonuses. I'm an intermediate (at best) level player, and so Goro's relatively basic but powerful attacks are ideal for speeding through tower matches. He's an absolute beast close up, he has a reliable (if slow) projectile attack and he can abuse that teleport jump attack.

There may well be other characters who perform well in this regard, but I've mainly played Goro so far and I can definitely see why he was a pre-order bonus. I wouldn't yet go as far as to say he's OP because I've only been playing against the AI and I don't know how well decent human players can counter his attacks, but he is definitely my recommended choice for people who want to rack up XP and koins for the Krypt.

I used Goro three times online last night, got my ass handed to me twice. The third time was close, but my opponent struggled with his air jump so I shamelessly spammed that to get back into the game. Either I suck or he isn't OP...I think it's somewhere in between. He is definitely punishable...I'm just glad we got a Shokan in this game to use that isn't Sheeva.

Kitana, Mileena (surprisingly), and Cassie so far. I'll be adding Jacqui to this list once I get the chance to get better with her.

Yeah, I can believe it. From what we've seen of the Fatal8 tournament, I doubt Goro would fare well against a solid Kung Lao or Erron Black player, and the same presumably applies to characters like Liu Kang and Kitana. Goro is powerful, but his attacks have very long wind up and recovery times, and - punchwalk aside - he basically doesn't have any long combo strings.

I haven't played online yet, and I won't until I find a character I feel comfortable with and train with them for a while. I really hope I can do something with Kotal, because he's always been my favourite new character and I love his War God variation. But he's slow...

I think Kotal's Blood God variation might be the best shot with the damage boost and what not. Don't know about the other variations, but the War God variation might be good for zoning if you are good enough...

What Kotel lacks in speed, he makes up for with reach; his F 1, F 2, F 4 all hit at Sweep Distance, and two of those are combo starters. B 2 has the same distance, and is an Overhead; in several of his moves he has easy access mix ups. ( 2 1 2 versus 2 B2 for instance).

I'm not going to pretend to be any good with him, nore am I going to pretend to be a pro, but Kotel has potential. I think Sun God might be his weakest variation, which is a shame because it's my favorite....

Blood God can get some obscene damage going by using his D B 1 (Crystal Totem) and Sacrificial Damage Boost ability. I think the main problem with it is that BG offers no new combos so it's going to come down to just making good use of the standard character.

Mileena, with both the Ravenous and Piercing variations. Mileena was probably my second best character last time around, and she just feels familiar...I can actually get wins with her online. I've put in a little work with Jax, Liu Kang, and Jacqui, but I'm nowhere near adequate with any of those three yet.

I need more time to play...I pulled an all-nighter after the midnight launch, went straight into work and somehow made it through the day (I'm a beast!), and then I put in a couple hours after work yesterday...but I need this weekend to get here ASAP. The running/no-dashing mechanic is KILLING me. I'm really having trouble moving around the screen and getting to spots comfortably and confidently.

STOP SAYING KOTEL!!!! His name is Kotal FFS lol.

as much as i love liu kang and am trying to get better with him, Kano is just too damn fun to use :D i think he's quickly becoming my main

So far I have really enjoyed Kenshi, his variations are pretty varied and I enjoy his style, Balanced and Possessed are my favorite

Takeda is a shit ton of fun I'm definitely going to try and get better at him.

Cassie was really surprising to me. I usually don't enjoy anyone from the Cage side (or sonja) and Cassie stood out, lots of fun and really nimble. I like it.

So far I've really only played Goro, Kotal and a bit of Raiden, but I am enjoying them all. Goro is great fun for smashing through ladder games, so I definitely recommend him.

Besides story mode, I've only played with Kung Lao and Kitana. Haven't decided on a variation for Kung Lao yet, and as usual, Kitana fits my playstyle better. I looooove Assassin Kitana.

From the story mode characters, Kung Jin has definitely caught my attention. Jacqui as well, she's so fast. But there's still tons of characters I want to try out and haven't, but they'll have to wait for the weekend.
