I do this with various bands too. You feel great that you now like them so much, but also feel ignorant when you remember how you didn't like them as much as you should have back then.

And NIN is one for me as well. I first started listening to NIN a long time ago, the sound was fresh to me, and it was angry. I dug it. Just like a lot of people who casually listen to NIN. But it was way later that I really got sucked into the music and truly admired how fvcked up and creative Reznor really is. Hard to explain, but the Broken - Spiral era has this really cold, harsh, and helpless feel to it combined with Reznor's venomous angst, its just amazing.

I think I tried too hard and too long seeking more heavier and obscure stuff that could out-do NIN, but in the end theres no reason for a music pissing contest. NIN Is what it is. Really loud, messed up, yet riveting music, that oddly pulls off being more accessible. Bringing the inner crazy out of a large number of people is never a bad thing.
