Its already announced that the next MK game wont be released until 2013 the same year the MK Movie reboot gets a theater release, which means that an UMK9 could have a possible release for 2012 if NRS decides to release one for MK's 20th Aniversary

I'd be perfectly fine with that. As long as it's worth spending the money for. And I'm so glad they're making a movie and confirming a new game so soon! Really good shit.

I agree as well there still alot of content missig from the first 3 games so I wouldnt see why they wouldnt do one..especially because MK9 was such a big hit if NRS really wants to support MK9 as they say...I think an UMK9 for 2012 would be great

There is a whole lotof content still to be shown along with Missing characters who havnt made an appearance to the game yet like Robo Smoke Motaro, both C/Khameleons, even Playable bosses, Stages from MK1-UMK3 are still missing like the Kombat Tomb, Palace gates, the Pit 3, The Balcony etc, and Friendships, Brutalities, and Animalities which were all part of MK1-UMK3.

I certainly wouldn't mind an UMK9 although I'd hope they don't take the route of Capcom and simply add things that should have been in the core games (Marvel vs Capcom 3/UMvC3, Street Fighter 4, SSF4, etc...).
I'd like to see-
-one new X-ray for each core character (2 Xrays per character)
-one additional fatality or the addition of brutalities for each character
-all the characters from MK9 including the DLC (except non-MK characters Kratos and Freddy)
-better online connection (yeah...it isn't really that smooth)
-the addition of at least four to ten new characters
(Cyber Smoke, Fujin, Tanya, Reiko, Tremor, Sareena, and at least 1-2 new male/female characters, possibly Frost or Taven since they were seen fighting in the background and already have character models)
and the return of Character Creation. I love character creation in games (I only play rpgs, mma and wrestling games that allow for it) so it would be a nice touch. However, since MK is one of the few franchises where I love the series characters so it's not really a 'must have' feature, but it would still be pretty cool. To avoid balancing issues go the Soul Calibur IV route and allow characters to either have a list of default presets or to choose a moveset from one of the existing characters). Again, not a must but would be nice.

I think everyone pretty much already covered the UMK9 essentials in their wishlists: Vs CPU, New or Classic Costumes and Fatalities for each Character, Better Online, Endurance Mode, Additional Characters and Stages, Krypt/Challenge Tower/Evil Story Mode Expansions, etc.
But what I would like to see in UMK9, and no one has mentioned it before I think..., are special Intros for certain matches. They could just take quotes from story mode instead of recording new voices. For example, in story mode, there's a part where Kitana says to Sindel "Mother?" and later Sindel tells her "I'm no longer you're mother" or something like that. Imagine that as an intro in VS mode.
They could use those recordings and make new intros for special matches like, for example Scorpion vs Sub Zero, Liu Kang vs Kung Lao or Kitana vs Mileena.
I know these would be purely aesthetic, but they would make intros less repetitive... I mean who hasn't heard Sub Zero's "This fight will be your last" innumerable times by now?
(Yes I'm aware most people skip intros anyway but still, they would be a cool addition)

I agree many have been asking for Tremor and like Ed Boon said on Twitter Tremor would be like the new Rain, Hydro on the other hand looked cool on the MK Mugen but seeing that we already have Cyber Subzero with MK3 costume he already resembles to Hydro

UMK9 completing the fan service.....
I have been planning to go back to Mortal Kombat 9 and give the multiplayer a good going over, as myself a PS3 Owner we had alot of issues at the time of MK9's release. I enjoyed playing MK9 local or the single player challenges that it had to offer I was however dissapointed that we did not get to see all the arenas from the original trilogy re-imagined and some more classic costumes would no doubt be welcome also.
So I hope NRS you are reading this because MK9 is not complete yet....
Where to start....
1. It needs to feel and act like an arcade game i.e. have videos, high score table like a cabinet would have in a arcade or chip shop. basically do a demo loop with gameplay also i.e. the lure promo stuff.
2. Atleast put in the missing arenas from the original trilogy I think they are Palace gates, Balcony, Noobs Ballcony, Kombat Tomb, Portal, Street, Warrior Shrine, blue portal (the pit with a portal) and smokes portal. I would like to see a misty swamp like level for reptile also, like in a mangrove with crocs and egrets in it. say a bit Dagobah like in Star Wars.
3. Classic costumes for all the characters
4. 2 more characters Robo Smoke and Motaro as a Boss
5. Bell tower stage fatality, Rooftop Stage Fatality, Kombat Tomb Stage Fatality, Blue portal Stage Fatality
6. 100 More Challenges
7. Brutalities and friendships
8. Boss Battle Mode (Play only as Bosses against other Bosses), Team Battle Mode, Test your Might Vs Bonus game split screen, Test your Sight Vs same screen.
9.Music Remixes of all the classic tracks (the music player was awful design in the crypt) like the Courtyard and the Armory
10. Calsssic Fatalities
MK9 basically needs to be invigorated as on release suffered in more ways than one plagued by PSN being down and online issues which I have no idea if it has been resolved?.

I would love them to do this but i honestly think there is no chance in hell they will do UMK9. I think next we may have a HD Digitized game, not a HD remake but an all new digitized game based on the first 3 games with gameplay similar to mk 9 for the 20th anniversary. Then perhaps MK10. It would be good considering there are things that make the game feel incomplete like no MK2 mileena or MK2 Scorpion and Sub Zero.
