To advanced players: is throwing an opponant after a jump in letting them off easy?

I dont know but to me it seems that way because, for one, just throwing an opponent removes the possibility of hitting a big combo on him, and two, even if he is blocking all the way, I can probably get 3/4 of the 12% damage that i would get from a throw through chip damage plus have a pretty good portion of my meter filled up. So basically it seems that I am letting my opponent off easy if i just throw them since I can probably get more done if i dont. Is this how you guys see it?

I would rather go for a throw, I can build meter of specials and applying pressure. Jips set up some of the most basic mix ups in the game, for example I main Mileena.

If I Jip, I have the option of throwing, D+3 (Low starter) into combo, Over head U+4, or Apply more pressure to build meter.

Even though you remove the possibility of HCing into a combo you would be better off keeping them guessing and playing with there minds (Mixing it up) But don't have a set pattern. Randomize it

I might Jip throw twice and then next time Low starter because he may try to tech the throw. I favor Mix ups over combo starters.. Just me personally.

For the true answer you must stare into your soul and face yourself before you can fully understand and comprehend the answer to your question.
You must develop a near autistic level of obsession with the game before you can play.

If you are on PSN maybe we could spar. I could write an essay about what the best course of action would be but alas i do not have the time.

LEARN TO LOOSE PEOPLE OH YEAH

No. Throw is a good option off JIP. I do it with Kitana regularly. Besides the 12 damage you're getting a knock down. In her case it's putting her right at their feet for wakeup pressure. Throw also opens up your other JIP attacks into hitting because they've got to release block to tech or avoid the throw.

Tick throws have been around since the dawn of World Warrior.

I can pressure someone with CSZ. I can go in for 21 and the opponent might either expect the 1+2 afterwards or maybe a special. But if you throw instead, you then start to get into their head. Now when you go in for 21 again, they might think you'll go in for a throw once more, let go of block but instead you can end with the 1+2 launcher setting up a combo.

I don't use throws that much, just now and again. I only really use throws for mind games, not getting damage.

I think it's great for conditioning the opponent. Like flag I do the same with csz, once they expect me to throw after 2,1 they will try to poke, jump out, or interrup then they get hit with the 1+2.

Like I said it's good for making your opponent think they have learned your tendencies then you can switch it up.

imo throwing sometime after a JIP is overrated as a setup/bait to a combo because for me I dont even look to defend the throw even if I have a feeling a throw is coming. Id rather be thrown than have pressure continuously applied to me which could eventually lead to something more damaging or having my opponents meter fill up. So for me, no matter how many times I get thrown im not going to leave myself open and defend the throw unless I know 100% that he is going to throw. Otherwise i think it is not worth the risk to defend the throw. Id rather take the 12% damage and be free from the possibility of continuous pressure which i think is more dangerous. Now if im fighting a certain character such as kitana who has a throw that keeps me right at her feet, THEN i have to think about defending the throw because then she could continue applying her pressure. But lets say I am not fighting such a character, does anyone think there is anything wrong with my theory ?

JIP throw is still a decent option at times for the reason you said. It's not often you're going to risk letting go of block, you'll just take the throw. That means you're getting a likely knockdown. Since almost all wakeup attacks are unsafe a knockdown can be one of the best ways to begin a big comeback.

It's also a good round closer.

First of all, jumping at someone midscreen is so unsafe and I really wish people would just stop doing it. Majority of players get away with the jumping crap online because the timing is retarded for some reason. However if you actually land the jump and all the person does is block your strings, yes its a good choice. However if you land the jump punch and they don't hold block the throw will whiff.
