The Official Marvel vs Capcom 3 Thread

I had my game pre-ordered, and due to post problems the delivery got delayed. I finally received it today ...
It's a nice "mash your way to victory" game. Not as deep as SSF4 but fun enough for me to spend some time on it. I like the fact it's very accessible to newbies, my wife who never touched a fighting game managed to kill one of my team members. When I asked her if she knew what she was doing she said "no" (ok I'll go hide now).

I just got it yesterday after debating it back and forth for past couple weeks. Real glad I got it, I am really impressed with the roster and glad they chose the characters they did. I like the variety and uniqueness to them

I've been really impressed with the game, I think they struck a good balance between pleasing the professional fighters and keeping the game accessible to the casual player. Yeah, sometimes it's easy to just button mash, but a skill player is still going to beat the masher more often than not, or at least counter their spam enough to get them to ragequit.

I dunno about MvC3. I think the game is garbage, but have fun when playing it. Right now it just provides a break from SSFIV here and there. When MK hits it will probably take a majority of my time with the rest going to SSFIV / AE. Doubt I'll touch MvC3 again after April hits.

One thing for sure, they're going to have to add more than just the two known and one rumored (Phoenix Wright) DLC characters. Heaven help us if the MvC2 Cyclops fans' rage isn't heeded.

What I find dissapointing is that every single character in the game is a demigod. They have access to ridiculous strings combos, and it all adds up to not being allowed to make even one mistake in this because one unblocked jab can lead to the loss of an entire character.

Wouldn't people complain about the game being unbalanced if that wasn't the case though? It always seems that if fighting games have one character on the roster that isn't capable of destroying everyone else then it's bagged on as broken.

Yes, you are probably right. I just have the feeling that they didn't spend enough time studying the hit reduction feature. You can easily wipe Phoenix in 1 combo. Besides this "detail", I love everything else in it (ok not everything else, they could have added Venom, Megaman and strider, ...)

People keep saying all they fight is Sentinel

I'm not seeing him at all....

I'm getting blasted by Dante and Chun li spammers

Yes, I was expecting a CGI video of some sort.

Thats what I was expecting. After seeing those badass intros where it started off with Marvel vs. Capcom then evolved into good vs. evil. I was thinking I was about to see some great story. Oh well, the game's still fun at least :)

EVERYONE plays sentinel. I mean, at least 90% of the players I've met online plays him. Not that I care too much, just think it's kinda funny.

I myself go with Deadpool, Akuma & Ryu! Add me on PSN if you wanna fight. I suck though, just playin' it until MK drops then I'll probably won't touch it no more! ;D

I still really hope that Phoenix Wright is in for DLC this month along with another Marvel character. I'm still hoping my list:

1. The Punisher (Max series version) or silver surfer

2.Howard the duck

3.Cable

4.Blade

5. Ghost rider

1.Pheonix Wright

2. Date Masamune (Sengoku Basara 3: Samurai heroes)

3.Jon Talbain

4.Vergil (Devil may cry 3)

5.Gene from God Hand)

still. My first team is still Spiderman,Spencer,Thor
Second:Phoenix,Trish,Tron

My PSN is demanding, I'm pretty mean with spiderman and spencer, my Thor needs work though.

So my license thing kept saying I was close to unlocking the achievement for playing in all the stages and I can't figure out what I'm missing since I know I fought in every stage several times now. Then I was reading another thread about SSFIV and saw someone mention the training stage...I facepalmed so hard I think I left red marks on my forehead. I never bothered with the training mode and that counted toward unlocking the achievement.

I'm rolling with C. Viper (Thunder Knuckle), Storm (Whirlwind) and Dr. Doom (Missiles) ATM.

I rushdown with C. Viper, while using Dr. Doom's Missile assist to lockdown the opponent. Storm steps in should C. Viper die. If I'm losing with a high number of full bars, I'll X-Factor Storm and spam Hail Rain until the opponent dies, or is close to death.

I've been experimenting with teams centering on C. Viper currently. She's a meter hog, and my first few teams are with Morrigan/Amaterasu, with meter assists. I can't play real good with these two characters though. I felt Dr. Doom's lockdown assist feels like the best assist so far for me. Storm is another character that I feel benefits from Dr. Doom's assist.

Best game so far of the year for me. Every character is unique and the teams you make are as effective as you want them to be.

I think one of the best things about the game is how all the characters are unique and also everyone carries their weight. The least effective character in the game still has some positives that make them worth playing, unlike MvC 2 which had some straight up jokes.
