Re: The Dark Knight Rises Discussion
I kinda let Batman Forever slide sometimes. Like I know it's dumb and all, but at least it does a good job at what it's trying to be. A less dark and serious batman. Where Batman and Robin just fails on all levels. I would have liked it if they had kept what they were originally going to do with it. Have Keaton star again and Burton direct like the previous 2 film, but the studio wanted to go in a new direction I guess.
And Jim Carrey as the riddler, I think he actually could have done a good job if they were going with the original dark stlye of the first 2. But him being popular around the time, they wanted him to act EXACTLY like he did in the Mask and Ace Ventura, so yeah, thats why he wasnt that great :/
Same goes for Tommy Lee Jones, he could have played a good Two-face but instead came across as a shittier version of the joker cause they were making the series less serious
Keaton is my favorite batman and Batman Return is my personal favorite movie too. People always forget about Batman Returns or say it sucks, but I think it did the best at creating what a batman universe is supposed to look like. 1989 movie as well. They have flaws, but I still enjoy them the most.
Those are actually the same thoughts I have. I mean, shit, like I said, Riddler looked awesome when he first showed up with the hat and cane, besides the shitty hair and make up, but, if they look that away, Jim would have looked awesome as Riddler. I didn't really like the cheesy slapstick shit, though, but, yeah, Batman Forever was lacking seriousness with them two, which is sad, because they could have made those characters good. Jim can be a dark, messed up individual, and Tommy Lee Jones is an awesome actor, but, wow, they were really made out to be too silly and stupid.
Val Kilmer and George Clooney sucked as Batman. Val, not as much, but I still didn't think he really captured the character as well as Keaton. Clooney just plain sucked balls, there was nothing good about him at all.
Do people really forget Batman Returns?? Honestly, if you know anyone who does, punch them in the face, lol, because no one should ever forget Batman Returns. I like the first Batman, and I love Nolan's Batman films, but Batman Returns will always be the best Batman movie IMO. I friggin' love that movie, and this is coming from someone who hates the Penguin with a goddamn passion. Easily my most hated Batman villain, except for Meredith's Penguin, because he made the character likeable.
Batman and Robin was just a matter of making a shit storyline with an awful Batman, false info (Freyith's fav, BARBARA PENNYWORTH lolololol), nipples (why? just why?) and throwing in a bunch of characters without making good use of them. Batgirl was garbage, Robin was just as shit as he was in Batman Forever, Clooney sucked, Mr. Freeze was such a joke (an unfunny one)...I actually liked Uma as Poison Ivy but what an awful movie to have her in.
Batman and Robin doesn't exist to me. Batman Forever barely does.
Also, as I mentioned on facebook earlier today, lulz at Harvey Dent being a black dude in Batman. I watched the movie when I was 5 and I didn't know who Harvey was but when I got older and had read the comics, I laughed each time I watched Batman.
