I'm getting so much second-hand embarrassment from this.
I'm done with this forum. It's just too much.
Shaw Kittelsen has confirmed that the mother of Jacqui Briggs is an entirely new character.
Does that surprise you?
Did anyone really think it was going to be a previously established character?
If you guys can't take a serious discussion and want it to be "ended" before it started, how do you expect people to have discussions in this thread? In this forum for crying out loud?
For the most part, there hasn't been any name calling, anything derogatory being said, so there's no need to lock the thread and move on. If you can't handle the discussion, just keep quiet and speak when the topic changes. I only ask people to move onto a different topic if it's getting too heated.
Whatever for the sake of the thread, let's move on now, there's two opposite ends of the spectrum at play here that won't understand each other.
While I find one side of this to be absolutely infuriating and certain perceptions and stereotypes persisting in this day and age to be discouraging, I'm sorry for having started this. I never even thought that my comment could be considered inflammatory, and I guess the shock that it could even be perceived as such kept me poking and prodding at the response. I'm happy to continue discussing why homosexuality in video games isn't/shouldn't be off-limits - especially in someone like Jax's case - in another thread, and the problems behind hetero-normative thinking. In the meantime, perhaps we should just leave this guy's thread alone and speak on it in the context that makes him comfortable? His fingers are in his ears and he obviously doesn't want his bubble popped, so I'm thinking a better conversation on this topic could be had elsewhere.
Did you bring up this theory of yours in any of the other character threads? If not, your comments are centered on one specific character(Jax). So for you to sit here and play the "I don't understand why some people are offended/put off by what I said?", is just playing the I didn't mean anything by it but it could happen. This game since 1995, has made no speculations to characters preferences yet you and others feel the need to speculate on one.I agree, for the most part the conversation seems to have been civil, so I'm not sure why there's been an outrage. In essence the outrage is meant to act as an attempt to censor diverging opinions and preempt challenging discussion. But I digress. Moving on...
TRMKers aren't ready for a conversion on homosexuality. Clearly.

That maybe the case for some but this thread was not about anyone's sexual preference, it was who is the mother of his child. The designers of this game didn't put it in there so why do you think it's up for discussion? Your lifestyle is none of my business and concerns me even less. Like I said before that has no relevance to this thread and if you want to talk about it then make a thread focused on that opinion alone.
Your logic doesn't follow here, mostly because you don't connect how discussing it in a certain character context matters (the original comment involved Jax and Stryker). Your third sentence needs rephrasing, because it doesn't make sense the way you structured it. The game has been out longer than 1995, but regardless, that point also has no bearing within the current discussion that is taking place today.
Your second comment was already quite handily addressed by Taj, so no need for me to respond yet again. I was hoping we were dropping this for the benefit of the OP, but if you keep bringing it back then I feel like I'm going to have to keep responding in defense. Happy to do that if you're looking to keep this in the spotlight still, but you're also going to have to come up with something cogent and coherent in order to defend your stance.
What's next, are you going to pull out the art of forum posting next? I'm talking to you not Taj and if it was over when he posted then why did you post again? Don't answer that, you'll probably point out how I misspelled something and that makes me not worthy of disagreeing with your opinion. So if you're done stay done and move along and that's what I've done after this post.
