I think it all depends on how well the kid replacements are received by the fans when nrs goes to make mk11. Cassie has a great chance of replacing her parents in the game esp. Sonya.

While I agree with MOST of this, I don't see Ed Boon getting rid of his 2nd favorite character (Kenshi) any time soon.

Between evil Liu Kang, Kitana, Sindel, Styker, Kabal, Jade, Nightwolf, Smoke, possible revenant Shang Tsung, possible revenant Mileena, possible revenant Baraka and a possible revenant Quan Chi, I think that MK11 will be fine on the villains part.
There's also Kotal Kahn, Reptile, D'Vorah, Ferra / Torr, Erron Black and possibly Frost that could all be villains in MK11.
 
I think Shinnok wanted him alive, so he can see the despair and hopelessness on the movie star's face before granting him a slow and painful death after D'Vorah has done some torturing damage on his flesh via her insect swarm, as well as let Cage see the futile attempt of stopping the fallen Elder God and witness Earthrealm's destruction by corrupting the Jinsei.

Also, besides the revenants becoming back as villains, I can see 1-2 brand new villains or anti-heroes. For this one new character, he fights along with the other 4 new generation fighters in repelling Outworld armies, but has an ulterior motive as the Dragon King's Herald, wanting to fulfill the prophecy of reviving the long forgotten ruler of Outworld and has a major grudge against most deities.
 
All i know is that DVORAH better return, esp. since she STOLE Tanya's STORY. AND JACQUI STOLE HER skin color . Now all thats left is Katy Perry from Dark Horse.

Given that this game was like a remake of MK 4, I'm going to assume the next game will be about Kitana + Liu Kang vs. the heroes aka Deadly Alliance remake. They'll hold off on Onaga, Chaosrealm and Orderrealm for at least another game.

Even the big ones miss a game every now and then.

Kano and Shang Tsung weren't in MK4.

Liu Kang and Mileena weren't in MKDA.

Kano, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Kitana, Jax and Kung Lao weren't in MKD.

It's been a while for a lot of these. I feel like there's a decent chance for another MKD-like roster.

Nope. Without the classics people will hate it. Than you will see mk discontinue and injustice getting all the fame for the next 20 years.

Cant you guys see that even the mk developer team despises the 3d era games and roster choices? They treat all of those like garbage for a reason. I guess that one new sequel was not enough to drive the point home. Oh well. The Reiko and Havik fan club will have a lot to cry about the next 20 years.

I get it, but MK is going to become really stale if the MK1+2 roster keeps coming back for every single entry.
 
There is one thing that I felt a little bit "cheated".

Kitana, Kung Lao and Liu Kang's main costumes.

If they were never revived, I think it would be much more cooler if they had been revealed as revenants.

Liu Kang is probably the most disappointing. An old Liu Kang when he is the most prominent of not being revived.

Ok, let's say that Kung Jin/Kung Lao ending is true, but that old Liu Kang is totally cheat.

Kitana too, specially when Empress Kitana is sick.

Funny that even Sub-Zero's costume follows the same pattern, since the masked one is never shown.

Quan Chi has been known to cheat death before. Especially through the use of doppelgangers. His treachery know no boundaries, so it is quite possible that we may not have seen the last of Quan Chi.

I know, he always cheated death. But due the strong presence and moment of Shinnok's release, Hanzo's revenge, I think we can consider that it was him indeed.

But damn, he was beaten in a level that I've never seen, all of his participations he had his ass whooped.

I bet they chose raiden's story arc for him to be aggressive so we can start exploring other realms and not always be stuck in earthrealm. It'll be cool to attack chaos/nether/outworld realms, not sure if raiden would attack order realm but you never know. Order realm might not like them invading the other realms.

After Shinnok was captured all of his appearances had him being beat.
His appearance in the 1st chapter had him as an untouchable bad ass.

I think at some point in the story it is stated that Shinnok gave him power and when he was locked in the amulet, Quan Chi was cut off and weakend.

This might work both ways, though. Shinnok may seem as bodyless head, but maybe, even in this state he can empower Quan Chi or even ressurect him? Time will tell.

Funny that they have chosen to put Quan Chi as a loyal servant. I wonder why he gave up his plans of betraying Shinnok...the flow of time really has changed.

In the end, I felt like he was releasing Shinnok like "screw you all I die but you will die too". He smiled.

I don't get why people are thinking that shang tsung will come back. I mean the dude wasn't just killed, his entire soul was absorbed by sindel as pure energy. No way he comes back. As for quan chi well the only guy who can do anything about him is nightwolf or the elder gods themselves. I don't think that onaga will revive everybody, he won't revive anybody, why should he?
