[SPOILER] Who we know wont be in mk11 and your mk11 roster predictions.

Baraka's ending in MKG is not canon. Quan Chi was sent to the Netherrealm by Scorpion at the end of MK4/MKG and end up escaping sometime afterwards.

Street Fighter V is prepping to stop using the same roster over and over as they are coming with Characters from the Alpha series, 3, and even new characters. When they sales start showing, we'll see which direction is the right one.

Uhhh. SFV is doing the exact same thing MKX did. Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Cammy, Bison, Vega, some characters from the less classic Alpha series (Birdie, Nash), and some new characters.

MKX did MK1/MK2 cast, some characters from the less classic MK era (Tanya, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Tremor), and some new characters.

I never said it would, I just meant it would be a tougher effort to keep things fresh.

Truthfully, I don't mind seeing the MK1/MK2 cast in every game, but I would prefer another roster like MK Deception, which only had the bare essentials of trilogy favorites (Scorp, Sub, Raiden, Liu - the iconic four, you might say) and the rest of the trilogy characters that had been largely ignored up until then.

10/10. Would thanks again.

Characters I hope return in MK11

1. Kitana
2. Jacqui Briggs
3. Cassie Cage
4. Tremor
5. Sonya
6. Smoke/Enera
7. Sub Zero/Kuai Liang
8. Jade
9. Raiden
10. Reptile
11. Kai
12. Li Mei
13. Sareena
14. Kira
15. Nitara
16. Noob Saibot
17 Darrius with a very unique redesign
18. A new female Edenian fighter
19 Mileena with a unique redesign, but maintains her pink color scheme
20. Takeda
21. Kenshi
22. Tanya
23. Shang Tsung

After MKX, Shinnok is currently the only character who definitely won't be back. Quan Chi can possibly return seeing how he survived death in Baraka's MKGold ending. Mileena can easily come back through her clones. Baraka came back to life in MKGold, so I don't see why he can't this time.

Old timeline =/= canon.
Even more so, old timeline "what if" non-canon endings =/= canon in this timeline.
Also, how can you say Shinnok won't be back, but Quan Chi will.
MK has proven over and over that anyone can come back if NRS very well pleases.
Kuai-Liang was brought back human from being a robot by Quan Chi.
After MK9 / MKX, I find it QUITE ridiculous when some one says "___________" will be dead but ____________ will definitely come back."
NO SO.

How many people thought that Baraka would be killed in MKX?
How many people thought that Jade was going to return for MKX?
How many people thought that Mileena would live through MKX?
How many people thought that Liu Kang, Kitana and Kung Lao would stay as dead revenants for MKX and not get revived?
How many people hoped for Sektor and Cyrax to be in?
How many people hoped for Smoke to be in?
How many people hoped for Noob Saibot to be in?
^^^
Lots of people were expecting the opposite of what happened, and NRS said "nope" and none of what people thought would happen with those characters in MKX happened.

Let's be honest, NRS isn't about that life. MK11 will have 2/3 of the roster with MK1-3 characters. It's pretty much confirmed by the endings of the Earthrealm characters that they'll be in MK11, especially JC (who knows how the live as long as Erron) and Sonya (who isn't going into retirement anytime soon). Street Fighter V is prepping to stop using the same roster over and over as they are coming with Characters from the Alpha series, 3, and even new characters. When they sales start showing, we'll see which direction is the right one.

Let's be honest, NRS (aka Midway) was always about that life.
Even in the "golden age" of Mortal Kombat (MK1 thru UMK3), which people always fap to.
Here are the facts:
In every single canon-storyline MK debut game after MK1 (thru Deadly Alliance) there has been 40% or more of the roster being brand new characters, and MK has always done well, despite it.
MKII had 42% of the roster being brand new debuts, with the remaining 58% being returning characters.
MK3 had 53% of the roster being brand new debuts, with the remaining 47% being returning characters.
MK4 had 45% of the roster being brand new debuts, with the remaining 55% being returning characters.
Deadly Alliance had 40% of the roster being brand new debuts, with the remaining 60% being returning characters.

MKX, if anything, actually somewhat resembles Deception (roster-wise).
You had the majority of the MK1 playable roster (not all - Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Liu Kang and Goro was a bonus on Gamecube).
You had some of the MKII playable debut characters (Baraka, Mileena and Noob-Smoke).
You had some of the MK3 / UMK3 playable debut characters (Ermac, Jade, Kabal, Nightwolf, Sindel).
You has some of the post-MK3 playable debut characters (Kenshi, Li Mei, Tanya).
You had 8 new characters.
The roster model is essentially the same for both Deception and MKX, though, and MKX is even considered to be the best selling next-gen game, so...........................
Deception had a combined 16 returning characters (from MK1 thru DA) and had 8 new characters.
Mortal Kombat X also did the same and it's selling like hot-cakes.
Perhaps people love the 3 variations and 2D fighting style more than the crappy 3D fighting system, and character roster has much less to do with it.

It's Mortal Kombat and death means basically nothing. The only people I would be shocked at seeing come back would be Shinnok and Kahn.
I think Quan Chi will probably sit 11 out and come back for 12.
As for who I think will be in the next game:
All the new guys, Shang Tsung and Raiden.
I don't know about Liu. I know he's going to be important, but I'm not sure if they're going to do Earth/Neather/Outworld again or just focus on two of the three and leave the other for another game.

Death means nothing though, so I wouldn't be shocked at seeing Kahn come back.
Shinnok also isn't dead, per se, so he wouldn't shock me.
Would I expect those 2 to come back (due to how recently NRS decided to end their reign)? No.
Death-wise, though, I'm just not surprised anymore.

Various people at NetherRealm (Boon, Beran and others) said that they "wiped the slate clean" in MK9 for MKX, and with Liu Kang, Kitana, Kung Lao, Jax and Sub-Zero (Kuai-Liang) all being back, that just seems like a bullshit statement.

Add Kobra to the list, Erron Black killed him. Also Mileena is a clone, so she's always a possibilty. Feel like MK11 will have new holders of old weapons (New Cento owner, Kabals hooks taken etc.) Also Dark Raiden said he's not going to accept any earthrealm attacks, so he's not evil As for tower endings, Erron Black will be in for a while, Johnny Cage maybe back, Kano's son will most likely be in too. Hopefully for MK11 Kotal Khan's ending is canon, the tournament must return
I'm all for Kano's son IF he is unique and doesn't use ANY of Kano's move. Also, to mix the story a little bit. He and Cassie should feel sexually attracted to each other ah ah ah

Baraka will likely return. He's a iconic character and he return in MKD because of fan demand. Fans where worry that Quan Chi killed him in MK4/MKG. Baraka is one of my favorites and I would be rather mad if they say that he is dead for good. He also return to MKG because I recall that Midway ask fans at the time on what characters that they wanted to see return. Kitana, Mileena, Baraka and Cyrax end up being MKG because of that from what I've been told.

The only three characters I don't want to see playable or even in the next game as a NPC are Quan Chi, Shinnok, and Shao Kahn.

That's it. Two had their heads chopped off. I don't remember if anything was said about what happened to Quan Chi's body after Scorpion killed him, and we clearly see that Shinnok's head is in the Netherrealm near Kitana and Liu. What they intend on doing with his head is up for grabs with the writers.

And it's obvious that Kahn shouldn't be in here because there's no reason to add him and have him, yet again, be a threat.

I feel like it's still too soon for Shao Kahn to retrun. I would be okay if he is gone for good despite him being one of my favorite video game villains.

And it's obvious that Kahn shouldn't be in here because there's no reason to add him and have him, yet again, be a threat.

Not only that.
Shao Kahn is being dealt with by the Elder Gods after being killed, following the events of MK9 (according to 1 of the Living Towers a month or so ago).
I'll post the picture when I get home, as I have it saved on that computer and not on my phone.

I think bringing back Shao Kahn post-MK3 in the original timeline was a big mistake, and I'm good with him staying dead. He's a great villain but we end up retreading the same story over and over.

I bet MK11 will have another horror movie character as a guest. MK9 did Freddy and MKX did Jason. I won't want Michael Myers because I feel like he can't do anything special that Jason can't do. So either Ash, Leather Face or Pinhead would be cool for MKX. With

I would rather have Cheech and Chong do voice work for MK than have another guest character.

In all honesty, we're not going to see much of anything from the MK4-MKA era ever again, outside of a few NPC cameos, mentions and possibly DLC. As far as I'm concerned, that whole era has long passed like p!ss under the bridge, never to be seen again, and it would be best that we all forget about Reiko, Fujin, Li Mei, Havik, Ashrah, etc. etc. ever being of any worth to the story going forward.

Fujin has lots of worth to the story going onward, given that Raiden seems to be bat-shit crazy at the end of MKX, and he could even take things to far to the point of being evil.
Fujin would be the perfect fit for Raiden's replacement as Earth's protector in that situation, and in an alternate situation where Raiden ascends to Elder god status, Fujin could also replace him.
Li Mei also has plenty of value as her story wasn't explained in too much detail in MKX, and she looks like a character that could be better done, given her story character model.
I find it absurd when anyone says that "____________ will never be seen again" despite that just about any character can get a revamp, regardless of the events not being the same this time around.
I do agree that we won't see anything from the MK4 thru Armageddon era, as far as those same events go, but just because the characters go through something different in this timeline doesn't mean that they don't exist or can't be put in with revamped moves.
It's not like Raiden went way back in time and killed the MK4 thru MKA characters parents before they were even born.

NRS hardly forgot about the post-MK characters. They said that Kai was in the early draft for the game before they rewrote the story. I think if Fujin ends up being DLC later on for MKX and becomes popular enough then NRS might give him a bigger role in the future.
