Well with everything changing this would allow for the new characters to show up, but The thing is D'vorah in mk2 seemed out of place since the events of MK1 in 9 didnt change barely anything. Thats how reboots work though.

Well, she's not really in MK2, she's just running around Outworld. It's like if we got a flashback to what Fujin was up to during that time. He wasn't born yesterday, obviously he was doing something during MK1, we've just never seen it.

Quan Chi wasn't originally around during MK1, either, but Mythologies and MK9 rewrote that stuff too, to include him.

I dunno why, but during the end credits with that Raiden scene, I thought it was a false Raiden for a good couple of seconds and assumed Raiden was going to morph into Raiden of some sort.
I really, really thought that was going to happen until the very end of the scene.
So hoping that Shang will have a chance to return in the future!

Nah.
It looks like Liu Kang and his queen (Kitana) will be the new rulers of the NetherRealm.
Raiden specifically says to them:
"As the new rulers of the NetherRealm, heed me. No longer will I simply defend EarthRealm. I will seek out and destroy all who threaten it. No mercy will be shown. No quarter given."
Which implies that both of them (Kitana and Liu Kang) now rule the NetherRealm.

I think Onaga will take Shang Tsung as his servant, along with Ermac, to keep a close eye on competition and to stop a possible Shao Kahn ressurection through Ermac.
It's quite likely Ermac will end up going all out Shao Kahn on everyone, though.

After long problems with internet to login on PSN, buying another router, struggling and almost entering on Kombat, I've played the story AND
I'm so happy to finally enter here again.
Well, if you do remember me, I'm a story passionate, and I will make my considerations.
Extremely good story mode. Teasing, interactive, with a very good story and characters.
Shinnok was awesome as a boss. He always needed that and he did it so well. I'm so happy with that.
As for my favorite characters, specially the top three, I will have to make more specific commentaries.
Sub-Zero: I'm glad you are back buddy. I missed this Grandmaster Sub-Zero, legendary, powerful, wise, and a master. He was a reference in the game, and I'm SO GLAD his gameplay is awesome.
Scorpion: man, I felt so glad that he could find his way. Ok, I didn't want, for "justice" reasons, him to kill Quan Chi. But what would I want him to do? I mean, that guy destroyed his life. And curse you Quan Chi. Elder Gods damn you. You are so mother**** that even DEAD you make BS happens. Love you.
Raiden: my dear hero. BEST. DUCKING. RAIDEN. EVER!!!!! He plays like a god, he acts like a god, his powers are godly! And on story...if you have happened to read any of my Raiden's posts and how I love him, his human traits and how he always BS things as we do, taking the ultimate sacrifice, don't continue, because I may be getting boring.
Seriously. Best hero of the series. That dude offered himself to clean the Jinsei. Can't believe.
And most important of all: NOW HE IS ANGRY AND YELLOW!! BEWARE THE THUNDER GOD!!!
The new characters are awesome, I liked how Jacqui plays so good, she is powerful, Takeda is the one I don't play too much and Kung Jin was the hardest for me. Well, Cassie I had to learn, because, well, she ducking beaten CORRUPTED SHINNOK! :O I loved this boss.
Kotal Kahn was more of a side character, but he played important role. He is very cool, as we have seen in the comics! But he is a little naive too. I don't know if he will understand what happened (well, Quan Chi tricked Scorpion for that long...).
D'vorah. Just go duck yourself. NEW QUAN CHI. I was so mad when she betrayed Kotal Kahn, holy crap. Because of her Shinnok set foot on Earthrrealm...sigh...(at the least she killed Mileena! What a disgusting death).
I'm satisfied with the story, look, I don't think I can make good assumptions right now, I'm so excited.
Well, that's it. Beware the yellow Thunder God fellas. When he was in blue and yellow he was beast, imagine now.
Nice to rejoin you again, seriously. I missed all of this.

Sub Zero taking the reins of the Lin Kuei.
How Kenshi was involved with Scorpion getting a hold of himself.
What was Kenshi exactly doing for as long as he was gone?
Where did Fujin go?
Raiden disappeared to "strange realms" but we didn't get to see that.
Outworld Civil War should've been built up more, felt a little bit like background noise.
It would've been nice to see things like the above mentioned getting addressed. Again just my two cents.

I meant that those points weren't properly addressed in the game, and that Fujin bit being from a deleted scene kinda adds to that. For people who don't see that tweet, Fujin just goes awol after chapter 1. Would've been better for it to be at least mentioned in game.

Sums it up, yes.
I'm a bit pissed neither he, nor Ermac and EB got a solid part in the story mode. More than one liners, that is. Kenshi arguably did, but they should have explored Takeda's daddy issues in a bit more detail (his parental issues were by far more compelling than Jacqui/Cassie).
Both of them a greater role post DA in the old timeline - I hope they give these chars their due in the next game.

I LOVED MKX story mode, and I feel like I need to stress that out before I address the parts that I felt were missing:
- Jade was confirmed dead on the streams, but nowhere to be seen, even as a revenant.
- Sub-Zero said that he killed Sektor and his followers, but does this also mean Cyrax?
Cyrax originally wanted no part in the cyber process.
- Sheeva, as much as I don't like her, didn't even get a cameo or death scene, and she lived through MK9.
- Shang Tsung being either dead or alive is still unknown.
- Noob Saibot's fate is still unknown.
If he died, then why isn't he a revenant under Quan Chi's control like Kitana, Liu Kang, Sindel, Jax, etc, etc, ect?
If he lived, then where the hell is he?
- Skarlet is nowhere to be found and her whereabouts are unknown.
- Goro didn't even get a story mode cameo, even after he returns to Kuatan in the comics and is reunited with King Gorbak.
Seriously?
How did he magically grow his arms back before making an appearance in MKX?
- Where is Kintaro during all of this?
- Where is Havik during all of this?
- Where is Reiko during all of this?
It feels like NRS and the comic book writers didn't even speak to each other.

I don't want to be a Negative Nelly, but unless NRS changes the way story mode is structured we'll just get disappointed with the next one too. If they want to stick with the current formula it's better to keep it longer and not have the focus of the story jumping around so much. As well as characters on both sides having chapters.
Edit: [MENTION=5028]Commander[/MENTION] Yeah I'm getting the sense that NRS and the Comics gang barely shared notes. First it was Kotal's skin not actually being blue, but now it seems as though the two are on completely different tangents with very little being shared between them story wise. Also good one on Jade, she totally slipped my mind >_<
