[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

I'm not over-thinking anything.
You are.

They don't come back alive again, it's just a case of 'if X had survived, what do we think they would look like in 25 years?'

They then draw up a concept and create a costume out of it, and use that as their primary on the roster so as to maintain visual consistency with the other older characters.

There is no explanation as to how or why they're alive again, because in terms of the plot they aren't. You may not agree with that being the case, but it is.

They're normal on the roster again, regardless of being revenants in the MKX story, JUST to appease the fans.
My point still stands that there's a gap that should've been covered in story mode or otherwise.

Human skins should have been the unlockable skin after beating the "Klassic Tower," not the other way around.
It's the same way that maskless Kuai should have been the default (even though I'm more of a Bi-Han fan) because it makes more sense story wise.

I haven't played the game yet so forgive me for the question, but is Bi-Han anywhere in the story mode?

I'm not.
It's just inconsistent, story-wise, to have those as default costumes.

At the very least, the human skins should have been the unlockable skin after beating the "Klassic Tower," not the other way around.
The default skin should have been the revenant skins, to coincide with the story.

The highlight of the story is the cameos.

And I don't HATE the story, I just think they tried to squeeze to much into the story to make it longer. If this game was solely about the Netherrealm War or solely about the Outworld Civil War things would've been different. And Quan Chi was a total joke in story mode, I think he was pretty useless throughout.

Edit: Also about Kung Jin being gay, I thought he was because of his dialogue with Raiden and didn't see anything between him and Cassie so yeah. On another note I really hope they develop his personality because he's way too jerk-ish.

Every team needs a douchebag
Also where the hell was Jade in all this. She was killed and we even saw her as revenent in mk9 so why she is not even show.I know why she Inst Playable but if Stryker got a cameo she should had one

I still would love an art book.

Galloping Ghost has a huge Mortal Kombat event going on Saturday. If some Netherrealm people are there, I'm definitely asking them if an art book is in the making.

Of course, I'm sure people have asked, and on Twitter, but I don't have a Twitter and never will. Plus asking in person seems like the better thing to do.

I'm currently exploring the krypt. Anyone know where the crystal and the rope is at?

Don't forget Sareena drop Bi-Han's name as well

Yeah, there's also that. :shot:

Even if he didn't come back as Sub-Zero in this game, I would have liked to have seen a conclusion for him.
Did he die?
Did he live?
IF he did die in the Soulnado, then he would just go back to the NetherRealm again since his soul was tainted and his death would be circular, no?
Thus allowing for a possible story where he becomes the new ruler of the NetherRealm after he dies.
^^
These are all questions that I WISH would have been answered in MKX, rather than them just leaving Bi-Han / Noob without story resolution.

At least Sektor got a confirmation of death.

So wait, I'm a little confused.

Did the pronunciation of Bi Han's name changed from BE Han to BY Han from the last game or am I just thinking of something that didn't happen?

I was always under the assumption that it was pronounced BY Han.

While did enjoy the story, there were definitely a lot of questions unanswered. Hopefully the comics will fill in these gaps or even the next game. I want to shake NRS's hands and also scream at them for keeping things like this from us, But i also like to think they know what they're doing!!!!

You meant the other way around; that it changed from BY Han to BE Han. But it was, in fact, BE Han in MK9. BY Han comes from MK Legacy.

I'm pretty sure that Sareena's dialogue confirms that he is alive now.

"I can aid you Kitana, as Bi-Han aided me!" Why would Noob Saibot help Sareena escape from Quan Chi? And why would Sareena call him Bi-Han if he did?

Whoops, I guess I did wrote it the wrong way, thanks for catching that!

And huh, I could have sworn I kept hearing BY Han a lot. I never watched any of the Legacy episodes so I have no idea where I've been hearing it from... I think I really do need to get my ears checked.

Didn't he do it in Mythologies? I mean, before MK9.

A reference from MKM: Sub-Zero, when Bi-Han was still Sub-Zero pre-MK9.
Noob Saibot never helped anyone.

And before you say that "this is a new timeline,' which I agree with, the MKX story mode also had a pre-MK9 scene with Raiden referencing events that happened with Liu Kang and Kung Lao, prior to the MK1 tournament beginning.
So, it could have just been a reference to Bi-Han and Sareena in Mythologies.

Yes, he did.
This is nothing new.

Off topic:
D'Vorah was seemingly retconned into Mythologies, as well.

You know, for as much as Ed Boon seemingly regrets the Mythologies and Special Forces game and has much disdain for those 2 titles, MKX has a HUGE mixture of BOTH in this game:

- Shinnok going into his final demon form = Mythologies.
- Kung Lao, Liu Kang and pre-MK1 Raiden = Mythologies era.
- Most of the kombatants in this game are with Special Forces.
- Tremor is DLC in this game = debut in Special Forces game.

Yeah, I didn't know that about MKM. That certainly makes thinks ambiguous.

But the Raiden/Liu Kang/Kung Lao flashback isn't pre-MK9, it's set during MK9 after the MK1 tournament. Raiden or Kung Lao specifically tell Liu Kang that he will beat Shao Kahn in the upcoming tournament. It's an homage to Shaolin Monks, which was similarly set during MK2.
