[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

I think the only characters that die are Jax and Shinnok. Well, not really Shinnok because he is immortal, but Shinnok is extremely incompacitated. If everyone looks at all of the arcade endings in this game then you will see a connect the dots type of thing. Liu Kang becomes the Emporer of Netherrealm. Raiden becomes like Shao Kahn. Kotal Lahn has to be like how Raiden was in he old time line. The elder gods resurrect Quan Chi to give him a directive, "He must kill Raiden." Everyone know Shang Tsung will be back since he was in 5 other characters' endings. Taven will coc,e back. Sucks that Shujinko gets killed by mistaken identity. Who knows... Shang Tsung could find a way to bring back Shao Kahn. Onaga may return. A new "deadly alliance" will see to that.

All in all, MKX is a reboot of MK4, MKX is not a reboot of MK4, MKDA, MKD, just MK4

[MENTION=18661]p.W[/MENTION] - You said you were disappointed that only chapter 1 felt cinematic? It hit me that it makes all the sense in the world for movie star Johnny Cage to have the chapter that most resembles a popcorn blockbuster.

Fujin and Raiden pretty much disappears as well. Hes in the first few chapters, maybe makes a quick appearance and is gone until the end

Fujin appears for maybe 1 minute and then is gone.

I'm not following. What is "single player" - do you mean the story? If so, then Liu Kang, Kitana, and the others are not human in the story. They're Revenants. They're undead, Quan Chi's servants. If you want to imagine that they are alive while they are very clearly not alive, then that is a very silly thing to do, but I most certainly can't stop you from doing it.

Without her weapons? Because she doesnt have them anymore. Kitana does, or is the mournful variation not canon?

If costumes can be non-canon (which plenty have been since at least MK9) and ladder endings can be non-canon, why can't variations be non-canon? There's a variation where Liu Kang has tattoos on his face, does that mean Liu Kang actually got his face tattooed? Even though we've seen him and he didn't?

I did watch the scene and it was absolutely awful. Seriously they couldnt have just had some random Lin Kuei guy do it? Its like "Oh hey its Fro... oh nevermind"

Anyways, the story mostly disappointed me, yes because of nitpicky stuff but also because it just felt rushed and not as fleshed out as the MK9 story

The story was definitely rushed. I wouldn't dream of disagreeing with you there.

But I'll take MKX over MK9 any day of the week. MK9 had a better plot, but paper thin characters who were either caricatures, stereotypes, or worst of all just boring. Johnny Cage was the only character in MK9 who didn't put me to sleep. MKX's story turned Johnny Cage, Sonya, Mileena, and Kano into serious characters and it brought new life to Sub-Zero and Scorpion, who are finally allowed to get over their rivalry, it introduced Kotal Kahn... at the end of the day, that's the stuff that matters to me, because it means that even if this story wasn't the best, there's a lot of reason to be optimistic for the future.

I don't plan to buy it before the 24th anyway (when my finals end). I'll see if any information comes out by that time.. We'll just have to wait and see.

Joke aside, meh... I didn't catch the subtle hint in his flashback. I forgot to switch on the subtitles and I have poor hearing. So if something was said, I most likely missed it.
 
Well now this settles it! For all the years I've seen threads get made about having a gay character, there is your gay character! Was is what most wanted? Who knows. I like the way they did it. Kung Jin is still a character I need to get around playing though. I will say that!

Thanks for posting that, incubus. My poor left ear suffered a cruel fate during marching band with an idiotic cymbal player... As well as being a percussionist who denied ear plugs, thus causing me to miss that part, hearing wise.

It was done tastefully indeed. It was swiftly hinted at and that was it. Kung Jin is definately no stereotype at all, and that makes me happy. Just too bad I'm no fan of his gameplay, his looks and that I kinda think he's a douchebag as well. XD

I would actually love if he could switch places with Takeda, so it is Kung Jin who dates Jacqui instead, but oh well.
 
I need to let you all know that I flipped the freak out when I saw Frost. I couldn't care less that she got frozen again, I flipped out.

I don't normally take guesses, but I'm going out on a limb and saying she's a possible DLC. There's a lot of mentions and cameos of her not to do something. Even in a freaking interaction between Sub-Zero and Sonya, she's being talked about.

I'll be a little disappointed if nothing happens but with the amount of stuff of her with X, I have no doubt she will be seen in the future.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but this is my second time viewing this thread and I just wanna know one thing...

Did Raiden turn "Dark" because of him "swapping" the corrupted Jinsei with the "Good" Jinsei that he possessed?

Also, kudos to NRS for making Kung Jin a Gay character, and the way they executed it. They did it in a way where there were no stereotypes involved, and the hint was subtle, not shoving it right in your face. I'll admit, that flew right over my head.

If I had my choice, I would have her and the other cameos as DLC

Kombat Pack 2 - Rain, Baraka, Sindel,
Kombat Pack 3 - Li Mei, Frost, Sareena, Bo Rai Cho
 
Just beat the game lmao I can't believe that frost cameo was actually legit. If Rocky has finished the game I feel his pain. And damn I can't believe that KJ was gay I would've never caught that lol. Shinnok getting his head ripped off lmfao now that's insane... But the one thing that truly pissed me off is how they did Quan Chi!! They made him so soft in this game, like anyone could literally kick his ass wtf... I'm happy for Scorpion but man they made QC weak as hell. The lack of arenas really did suck though. And finally Ermac is making his own choices!. And what they did to Mileena sucked as well, I didn't like that at all. But the story was pretty good even though special forces had a huge role... But for the next game I hope it has more realms.
 
I think the comics had me expecting too much from the game's story. The comics were so well written and interesting while story mode was bland and predictable.
