[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

I haven't watched the whole Story Mode yet, but form what I could watch and read I think they could've made it better. I have an impression that in MKX story there are more plot holes than in previous game. Also, it seems NRS included less chapters than in MK2011 in favour of more cinematic time. I love the cinematics, but IMO they could've made at least 15 chapters (MK2011 has 16) and thus make the story more concrete.

In MK2011 every character from the main roster is included in "playable fights". Is that the same with MKX? I'm asking because I'm just curious and I don't know. Is there someone on the roster who doesn't have his/her own chapter and we don't fight against? Cinematics don't count.

I agree with you 100%. Also I'm tired of only fighting as the good guys in story modes. Let me beat the tar out of raiden with a villain for once. As for not fighting against someone I think you fight either with or against everyone on the roster. There just aren't as many fights it seems like as MK9 had. I'm cool with the new cinematic kills and all but it's just a button push.

Does anyone know what the various Shao Kahn references are about? I'm talking about the armour in Quan Chi's stage, the statues... these are all used in achievement pics, curiously. Also, who or what is that person/creature in Quan Chi's stage? Is he imprisoned? Is he being rejuvenated?

Unless there are aspects of the story I'm missing, it just seems like there's some random stuff that was added and never expanded on. It just feels like there are chunks of the game missing, and the pitiful number of stages just reinforces that assumption.

I agree theirs a story being told good vs bad. You can't have one without the other and last time I checked MK isn't a steven Seagal movie so good guys get beat to. I think their great for a fighting game story, but they have a movie vibe going on here. You see what the bad guys are doing in a movie, but this is a game we should be able to experience it not just see clips.

I'm really curious to know these things.

All Fatalities here:

EDIT: Video got deleted damn it

That's where good ol firefox comes in handy, be sure to download it in mp4 before it gets taken down. I do think WB are going to loosen the reigns a bit and stop cracking down on all the uploads now that the mobile version is out which pretty much is a taster to the main meal if you know what I mean. But yeah just incase they are being hard asses it always helps to download the mp4 version through a firefox browser.

EDIT: Can't officially do a thanks yet but Thanks for that post Sermac

Now I've seen all the fatalities, I have to say some of them have that MKDA feel to them where they're just 'too clean' or someone gets stabbed and there's no blood. I'm disappointed Scorpion doesn't have his hell fire...hopefully it's a brutality. But what he does have are pretty good. I'd probably do the faceslice one more than the decap. There are quite a few too many 'banana split' fatalities both in body and head, de caps and neat holes in the head/chest. Overall though not the worst line up but not the best either.

That being said, Mileena by far has the most brutal fatality ever, it's so her and so scary at the same time. I thought Scarlet's were brutal this is much scarier. Kotal Kahn's simple bear hug is actually very disturbing...he literally squeezes the life out of you. Johnny's second one is also very well done. Kenshi's are both really cool. Liu Kang's both suit him as do Kung Laos. For some reason Kung Lao's head split is very hard to watch lol. Cassie's selfie also has a nice touch check out the facebook...I mean friendship book messages and friends. Kano's first one for a neat hole in the head is also pretty good too. And Lastly, every one has seen these 2 but with the pull your insides out ones with Takeda and Ermac, Takeda's is better.

I also have a new appreciation for Sub Zero's back break, it's actually a unique animation unlike a lot of the recycled ones and the tear is not too clean like some of the others. While I do like Sub Zero's bed of ice it also suffers from being too clean. I'm disappointed with Kung Jin's fatalities (would it have hurt to NOT shoot a body part in the air) as I like him best of the new comers but will most likely use him as my second main anyway...hopefully his brutalities make up for it.
