SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I've given up hope of Erron Black surviving the comic, especially since he's been marked for death with that snapshot. He's not a terribly good assassin/abducter if he managed to get himself spotted. :) Of course, if I end up being wrong I'll run laps of joy around my house.

I don't think he's supposed to be much of the assassin-type so much as just a wandering gunman-for-hire... Why's the snapshot mark him for death? I don't think Goro possibly killing him will be affected by that.

And yeah, isn't posting that stuff against the rules?

Is it? I'll remove it then.

The thing is, he's always been in danger because of Goro, but now Sonya's got reason to kill him too. Just more wood for the fire.

(Neither of them works anyways. XD )

Then there's no foul, right? :)

There's a lot of characters with a lot of reason to kill other characters. I wouldn't worry that everyone Erron antagonizes is going to kill him. Sonya specifically wants Kotal's head, anyway.

I'm still suspicious.

Ok, I've learned a little lesson that we (I) should already know about "trust" and "Outworld" on the same phrase.

But I don't know...who could frame the other.

I mean, look at the big picture: Kotal asks for permission and help to strike his enemies; Raiden did said sometime that Earth would be allied; then of a suddenly, Kotal simply asks that? He only loses doing that. I hope he is not as dumb as Shao Kahn.

Some quick thoughts on the direction they are going at present.

I love that Cassie was unwilling to take a life. I think she has a lot of protagonist potential, and her being a moral compass in the freaking nightmare of the MK universe could go far. She will eventually kill, of course, but waiting it out for someone who really earns it will make it have significantly more weight if done right.

As for the Erron stuff, I think this is part of the major defeat of Kotal, but this isn't his move. This is Erron betraying Kotal, implicating him to cause tension between him and the Earthrealm forces.

Ok just read the comic. Well shit. That was a surprise. I was really expecting them to kill Frost, but it seems they proved me wrong and just one more time proved. that there is no 100% guarantee. While I wasn't expecting Cassie killing Frost on her own, there was always possibility that someone could have forced her and I mean that possibility almost became true if not for Jarek and Tanya.
I am still thinking that this was just a nice fanservice and we might not see Frost in the future.
As for "abduction"... why pretty much everyone here decided that it was done with evil intentions? Maybe actually they were SAVED by the orders of Kotal Kahn? You know so to make Sonya owe him and make alliance? That is also a VERY strong possibility.

Just my 2 cents on the comics...

I actually like the comics a lot, they're not as bad as I would have expected previously. The art is beautiful, reminds a lot of the first Tomb Raider issues over 10 years ago... To me, it's just the dialogue that gets really CORNY at some points... I am fine with the storytelling so far: this is clearly after what's going to be the first part of X's story mode, the Netherrealm War against Shinnok.

As far as characters go: I love Fujin and Kuai Liang's appearance in the comics! Obviously, I want them in X, they look great and Kuai finally got his scar! I love his design, very MK3/Deadly Alliance-ish, but with a much cooler update.

I really like Takeda. I'm actually looking for some Tekken influence here: is Takeda and Cassie going to be a new "couple" in Mortal Kombat? Looking forward to it. I'm just hoping they don't turn Takeda into a Kenshi's rip-off... First, Kenshi is one of my favourite characters and he simply is too unique within the MK universe, there's really no need to replace him. I am really not seeing what else they can do to Takeda, other than being a mix of Kenshi and Scorpion's moves, zzzzz...

I adore Erron Black, but I still haven't got used to his name yet. Salazar sounded much better. Erron Black is very COMIC-ish for sure. Other than that, his design is great and I love the cowboy-look. Very different and a nice change.

The thing that I didn't like at all was Frost: it just felt random, why would a powerful Lin Kuei warrior be in a pit fight FOR NO REASON AT ALL? They could have thrown anyone there, Frost just happened to the one. There was no development whatsoever there. At least with Hsu Hao, it made sense why he was after Kenshi and Takeda and I am fine with how he died (I actually like Hsu Hao *not a Ed Boon sheep I am afraid*)

So for X, so far, I'm happy if Fujin, Kuai Liang (as a Sub's alternate), Takeda and Erron Black make the cut!

Frost should not be a Lin Kuei member right now. That was the old timeline, it was Kuai Liang who turned them into a force for good after MK4 and that version of the Netherrealm invasion.

Whether she is a part of Lin Kuei or not, it's irrelevant here, the comics made no effort to explain why she was in that pit fight. It was a random choice. Cassie could have fought Tanya in the same situation... Kira would be a much smarter choice for the writer because the Black Dragon actually happens to invade the place (good they brought Tasia back!)

Like I said..I wouldn't be surprised if Frost makes the roster .

"Ewwww omg I can't believe NRS is just killing all of the post mk3 characters .Ohhhhh NRS is sooo lazy ohhhh my ass hurts ."

"I AM the flashing lights and special effects."

Just read the issue.

So just to clarify, Cassie and Jacqui are running away from Jarek and Tasia, a Portal opens out of nowhere.

After that, I'm totally lost. Where did Erron Black come from, why is Sonya going after Kotal Kahn now?

FOR THE RECORD

Comixology now has their issue up, therefore no need to further post spoiler tags about this issue. Everyone has access to the issue now.

EDIT:

Nevermind, just read Harpoon's summary, thanks dude.

Amazing issue, I'm loving Kotal more and more. I hope Cassie's abduction was used as a bargaining chip. Sonya's stubbornness is being taken to new heights, it's really making me dislike her.

The only Black Dragon members that were EVER any good are Kano, Kabal, and Tremor.

Being in a fight like this does fit Frost's personality. Tanya would've made zero sense, she is a deceiver, not a brawler. Plus she should be primarily be in Outworld/Edenia.

I do agree on Kira though. Would've been a neat way to have her recruited into the Black Dragon

Mayb they do have plans for Frost being in SF's captivity.

As a Black Dragon lover, it's a good surprise to see Jarek's return, and Tasia appearance ! BUT i would prefer the original outifit for Jarek, i don't understand why they use his terrible MKA armor and his terrible MKA weapon !!

And i also would have prefer Kira upon Tasia, but it's nice to see Black Dragons here ! Definitly !

Agreed 100%! but i think it would be great to expand upon the other members as well (Tasia & No Face) to give the Black Dragon more substance! Might make fans just alil bit more interested in them/The Black Dragon as a whole unit.

**Was never a Jarek fan so unless he got a complete overhaul then they could kill him off as quickly as they did Hsu Hao for all i care!

I think the majority of the characters we are seeing, particularly in this issue, are fan service.

Erron Black I feel will end up in the game, since he is closely allied with two other new characters appearing in the game. Jarek, Frost, and Tasia are all just fun cameo appearances for the fans.

THAT ISSUE! Man this comic just keeps getting better and better. Yeah the writing sucks, but the story is coming along nicely

FROST LIVES! Those implications! she may actually have a shot of making the roster! Maybe not launch roster, but I think DLC could be a possibility

JEREK! YEAH! For some reason I thought that chick with him was Kira. Tasia I think her name was. She seems kinda generic for now. Hope she gets some more screen time in further issues.
