Popularity has its privileges. THAT'S why Kung Lao and Kitana are back while Frost and Hsu Hao are not.

Popularity speaks mate. If Frost or Hsu Hao were as popular as Kitana or Kung Lao you would see them kicking ass and being shown off on posters like other characters.

Nah. The problem was that when Frost first appeared, a lot of people complained she was just a female sub zero (to certain extent they were right). Also they made Frost just to fill the roster. In short she was idea born in 5 minutes.

That is true, Its just a shame that frost didnt become popular. I mean shes been in every game since Deadly Alliance, shes had great character development and evolved so much as a character... oh wait...

Great issue, as many have said, all the pieces to the puzzle that is the MKX story are slowly falling into place. I don't want to repeat what many have said already but I just want to point out one important thing:
If you do not like Kotal Kahn at this point, there is something extremely wrong with you.

Most of the fan base won't miss Hsu Hao ....then of course...you have the few that will miss him and are going to argue that he was a great characters with a great story despite creators not even liking the character

and it pisses me off that they arent even making an attempt to try to rectify the injustices done to the post MK3 characters. There is so much potential just going right out the window.

There is a major difference between hidden joke characters and main roster characters like Frost, Mavado, Nitara, Shujinko and such.

I think it's not only popularity, but characters that can make a difference.
Of course if someone is popular, because of his/her appearance or powers, you can make a role for making difference (Ermac and Reptile IMO, no backstory at all, but they are awesome).
But there are characters that are popular because they make the difference. And I think that's the majority.
Frost didn't come up with a good approach, she never had anything to add. Hsu Hao too.

I know, it's hard for a simple bit** to see the potential in a character that hasn't been whored-out to the fan base.

What NRS is doing is very smart. They aren't going with the shit tier characters that everybody hates, they're starting from scratch and leaving the losers behind. Potential or not, fans still have a bad taste in their mouths from the likes of Nitara, Kobra, Darrius etc. Easier for NRS to get fans to like characters that are fresh and don't have terrible pasts.
