SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

That's so whack how they offed Kintaro like that. It really seemed like they were trying to write him as an important character for the Shokan faction. Him counseling Goro, forging an alliance with Kotal and Sheeva saving his life. If anything, I thought Goro was going to kill him when he returned from Plothole City.

Is anyone still having trouble being able to buy Chapter 33 on Google Play? I am...it's STILL showing up as "not available in your country", and it's supposed to be available TODAY.

Look, it's not only Outworld Civil war that doesn't match.

Ermac's departure from Mileena was a rape to canon.

But we have other assaults to canon dignity.

I mean, do you really think Kotal would give up having the Amulet? On MKX, he clearly shows that, if he had the chance to protect it, he would have done it.

In the comics he was somehow like "nah, I can't have it". And, knowing the kind of betrayal he could make to protect his empire, it would fit better if he accepted. But the game makes it look like there was never an option for him, so, this thing of Raiden asking "who wanna babysit Shinnok" is BS.

Cassie and Sonya: BS. Look at their relation in the game. Considering everything that happened in the comics, it should have ended that way, but the real point is: the whole plot (Cassie knowing everybody and getting through all this plot) should never have happened.

Hanzo and justice. Look, I would LOVE that this would be this outcome. Really. But that wasn't what MKX has chosen. How come Hanzo has become almost Batman and in the game he is, again, an irresponsible piece of s***? I know he discovered everything, but look at everything he went through in the comics and decided to be Batman, not Red Hood. Makes no sense with the game.

You know, after all those chapters, besides the term "Reiko Accords" in the game, you can easily just end MK9 and skip to MKX, using all info that the game itself gives you, and have a consistent story.

It makes much more sense doing this. All these adventures between the games, seriously, it started real good, but it went VERY far from the characters themselves. It's almost a new game.

And the more it progresses, more away from the source material it becomes.

wow they made kintaro look like a whimp
between this and powered up shinnookie getting beaten up by cassie, it's really tough deciding which is more puke inducing
they do one thing in common though...

it sucks

this chapter would've been pretty trash if it wasn't for kotal showing what a badass politician he is once again

And the more it progresses, more away from the source material it becomes.

I think at this point just take the comic's canonicity with a grain of salt. Vogel and the NRS team are going to do whatever they want, and Kittelsen has his own plan, and the two may diverge further and further. There's clearly not a lot of communication.

The only reason Kotal took the amulet for himself in the game was because, in his eyes, Earthrealm had shown their failure to protect it. That was his whole motivation; something which clearly wasn't possible yet at this point in time when Earthrealm only just got the amulet. Also, he cites the civil war as the main reason he can't guarantee its protection, and guess what ends just before he takes the amulet for himself in the game? There aren't any inconsistencies at all with that, as Kotal's reasons for ultimately taking the amulet still haven't come to fruition.

Cassie and Sonya: BS. Look at their relation in the game. Considering everything that happened in the comics, it should have ended that way, but the real point is: the whole plot (Cassie knowing everybody and getting through all this plot) should never have happened.

Cassie and Sonya's relationship might have improved a little, but this step doesn't mean everything is suddenly a-okay. Sonya and Johnny's relationship still hasn't improved very much if at all, and frankly, it'd be more inconsistent if there wasn't some sort of step forward with Sonya and Cassie here; their relationship in the game isn't nearly as abysmal as it was shown to be throughout the book here.

Given that Hanzo teleported in and out without even saying a word to his student, who thought he was dead and been through so much physical and mental trauma, just so that he could go about personally delivering an enemy to Hell, I'd say he's still being irresponsible. Him saying he's doing it for justice instead of vengeance doesn't really change that, nor does it contradict him also putting Quan Chi's death above all else; in the cases of both Havik and Quan Chi, Hanzo's shown he puts punishing them ahead of his friends and allies.

I think you're really exaggerating how bad the inconsistencies actually are, and just forgetting that no two writers are going to give characters the exact same voice. A lot of the characterization still works just fine with the games.

Sub-Zero vs Sektor was actually something I hoped would be covered in one of the flashbacks in story mode. And it actually would have been a much more interesting way to spend Sub-Zero's chapter.

But instead, Sektor. Who's popular, survived MK9 and had a canon arcade ending, will be killed offscreen in a just barely canon comic. Wow.

Agreed. It would of been nice if Sub-Zero's chapter jumped around more. Although, I do love beating up the teeny bopper squad with my favorite character. Politically incorrect if read out of context.

Kinda hard not to.

I hope Scorpion doesn't kill them. They beat his ass in the old timeline. They would have killed him too if the Elder Gods didn't save him

Shaun has such a raging hard-on for Scorpion i'll be surprised if he doesn't kill them. It was nice seeing you again, Drahmin :(

Also can we please get that other artist back? The art on this one was absolutely horrible

Regarding the Ermac consistency, Kittelsen gave an explanation:

Wish they'd found room for this in the comic itself.

That's such a bullshit excuse. Why can't he just say there was a mistake? Ermac straight up says "We will serve the new Ruler of Outworld" to Kotal Kahn. Ermac doesn't really seem like a flip-flop kind of character, he prefers logic to emotion. And what about Mileena? She is literally insane, she would have killed Ermac on the spot after he came crawling back. And if she wouldn't, Kotal Kahn certainly would have. There is no way out of it, this was just a mistake.

For the love of god.
I had to use the process of elimination to figure out it was Takeda talking in this panel. I had no idea who it was by just looking at it

Personally, I'm a huge fan of how the artist blended Ermac and Erron Black into a single character in this panel. Kittelsen obviously has a lot of trouble finding room for Ermac in the story, so it's up to the artist to do what he can.

Fantastic effort.

Sorry for being so late: Why is mileena in the corner, are cassie and jacqui with johnny?
and where is ermac?

I only like Johnny (this game made me love him, as I think he was generic and boring as fvck in his previous iterations), Sonya should die and be deleted from existance and Cassie bores the hell out of me. Don't let me start with Jacqui...

There's something I could never understand completely, is JC aware of his green goo? I mean, does he really throw green energy in the canon or is that just an in-fight thing that doesn't really happen because what happens in the fight is not canon but the aftermatch is. I always thought he was aware of it, but I started to doubt when he got surprised by his green armor during the fight with Shinnok.

Agree with this 100%.

I think some of you guys are making to big a deal out of this, I personally think most of it fits well together and the story in and of itself is a good one, and on the subject of the whole Ermac situation, remember that Ermac is composite of thousands of souls, and at this point he was growing slightly unstable, so it would make sense that he would snap loyalties as the souls within himself shift in and out of control of his main form, just the way I look at it.

I think Kittelesen did a good job with the already convoluted mess he was given.

Holy crap, this is the most imbecile explanation of all

Is it too hard to say "we got a different script, we messed up"?

Or maybe I'm being naive. They indeed tried to make this mess and make Ermac go back to Mileena.

Seriously...

as I said, jumping from MK9 to MKX, with the little info we have, fits much better than this.

It's almost like saying that between MK3 and MK4 Shinnok and Raiden became best friends, because Raiden gave Shinnok a second chance, and then fought because of some beauty from Earthrealm (and Quan Chi was jealous).

Look, I've just made a story between games, and it makes as sense as this. Specially the Quan Chi part!

I'd be more willing to accept Sektor's death if it meant knowing Cyrax is still alive. Because if they add Cyrax to MKX, it's almost a complete guarantee that he'll get a Sektor variation.
