SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

2. What happened at the end of the fight? Did Havik run out of batteries by using up more energy to freeze Scorpion and Takeda than he had intended? Very ambiguous. I suppose the next chapter will shed some light on this. But one shot of Havik saying something like "Damn... I thought I had more time!" would have really cleared things up in the meantime...

I think he very much intended to do that. It seems that to keep people under his possession, Havik needs to have them cut themselves with the Kamidogu constantly to "corrupt" their blood and also increase their power. With Sub-Zero's Kamidogu taken from him, he just decided to have the guy use his remaining corrupted blood to unleash that iceplosion.

But what's the point? Even if Hanzo wasn't able to get himself out of the ice of his own volition, surely Kuai would help him immediately after reverting to his normal self? There's just no way that doesn't happen. And then either way, the Kamidogu is lost to Havik.

The only play that makes sense in that situation, from Havik's POV, is doing everything in his power to get the Kamidogu back from Takeda. It's still possible that that was his plan, he froze Takeda to stop his escape, and wanted to get the Kamidogu from him, but ran out of juice.

Well, as has been shown, Hanzo's still not done fighting even with Kuai freed. From what Havik's said, he wants Hanzo to go back to the wrathful spirit he used to be, and freezing his apprentice and leaving a confused Kuai Liang at Hanzo's mercy would probably help accomplish that. Given that Havik can still "talk" to people through the Kamidogu, I don't think he's too upset about one of his puppets losing one.

Kittlesten is going so hard with these obscure MK references.

All right, that actually makes some sense. We know that a plan like that has not a snowball's chance in the Netherrealm of working, but I suppose it's a decent enough in-character gamble for Havik to hope that Scorpion spazzes out and become amenable to further manipulation.

Yeah, we know it won't work and that Kuai Liang will probably convince Hanzo to stop attacking him and save Takeda, but Havik probably sees it as worth a try.

I'm really anxious to get a look into Havik's head and learn what he's up to. He's been portrayed as a bit of cut and dry villain so far, but this quote from Kittelsen definitely makes me think he gets the character, and Havik being his favourite villain to write makes it sound like we've only just scratched the surface:

IMO Havik resists classification. He runs the whole spectrum of good and evil -- which makes him a juicier villain. :)

Spoiler:
Unfortunately Kittelsen could not convince NRS that Havik made a lot of sense to be in the game..

You've been crawling up everyone's asses about posting the slightest unmarked spoilers for weeks, and here you are doing the same? Just because this thread is in a spoilers-allowed subforum doesn't mean you should just say anything anywhere with no regard for the consequences.

In response to what you said: the roster was probably finalized long before Kittelsen came on board.

Spoiler:
Havik is an awful character though. So glad they didn't include him.

Havik is an angel.

True, still not a character I would be mad if they included, he's a grey area for me. I don't like him at all but I think NRS could do something different and decent with him, even if he ends up sucking again he at least looks good and is not a copycat.

If were for me would I include him? No.
Would I be against his inclusion if he were in the game? No. I'd take him over Sonya, Kano, Jax, Jacqui and Kang.

I agree to a certain extent. When MK:D came out and I saw Havik and his gameplay I thought he was a joke, never to be seen or heard from again. One Hit Wonder!

But seeing his cameo and design in MK9, I loved it and could only fantasize on his potential to the story.

Oh just a note, even though this is a spoiler thread, tags MUST BE USED when discussing the actual MKX Story on here.

Yeah, Havik looks cool and has unique motivations and personality, wich makes him a good character to have in story mode. But his gameplay wasn't that fun, he definetly needs improvement there. He is kinda in the same boat Kenshi was before MK9.

Havik wasn't great originally I agree, but he has awesome potential. He's a very interesting character in terms of what you could do with him in story mode, and his fatalities would be incredible.

Definitely agree with Havik's potential, who I think can be along the lines of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi as a great 'string pulling' bad guy.

The guy will kill anything and anyone in the most brutal way possible just for the sheer enjoyment of the pain and chaos it brings which in my opinion makes him evil NOT neutral and just like the Joker he still has a very meticulous well thought out plan executed with a high level of intelligence which he has displayed in the comics. He can manipulate others with out sorcery then add his sorcery on top of that as well as what seems to be a playful sense of humour and he could be one of the greatest bad guys MK has seen...IF done right.

Spoiler:
I just expected too much from NRS I tought they would include Havik and at least Reiko and make a great story.

NRS tends to keep things simple. I am really thinking about to chancel my pre order MKX LE European version, the European version does not have the Kombat Pack and I pay almost the same price as the Amazon.com imported version. I am really thinking about to wait for a complete edtion of MKX I just expected too much beause of the comics and the next gen power etc. To be honest some fatalities are worse than MK9 fatalities or even MK Deception. Reptiles second fatality ( Terminator 2 ending, where Arnold dies LoL) is worse than his MK5 fatality.
