Plus, why would they leave that out of the game, when the "Origins" issue comes out digitally, the following week?
That makes no sense, to me.
First reason:
there's simply no non-silly explanation for this.
"Lord Raiden... you've brought me back to life!"
"Yes, you will have a second chance. But... Kuai... there's this thing that's been bothering me. When we fought in the Netherrealm during Shao Kahn's invasion, you were a cyborg."
"Yes."
"You were basically a cyborg zombie."
"Yes."
"And now you're not. This is strange to me."
"Quan Chi found my cyborg body to be an inefficient servant. His minions broke into the Lin Kuei temples and found my original body, discarded and useless. They brought this husk back to Quan Chi, and with his powerful magic, he was able to transfer my soul from the cyborg shell into my original body."
"Wow, that's uh... that's a lot of effort to go through."
That's like... one of the
less silly versions of how that conversation goes. You don't see how it would completely cheapen the drama of the resurrection (or whatever other sequence they stick this dialogue into) to cover this nonsense?
Second reason:
that conversation took 1 minute of storytelling out of 120 total for the game. You don't think they could use that minute more productively... like... developing Kuai's character? Developing Reptile's character? Developing Ferra/Torr's character? Developing some sub plot? You think that filling up a plot hole that MKX newcomers know nothing about and plenty of MK9 fans are happy to forget in its entirety is worth it? When a disposable comic can do the same thing in less than one page of one issue?
Ain't gonna happen.
It would be strange as hell for the game NOT to bring up how he came back from being a cyborg, without any explanation.
That would be a huge plot hole that I don't think they would leave open like that.
This isn't a big plot hole. It's arguable whether it's a plot hole at all. A plot hole is something that
doesn't make sense. You already know what their solution will be - Quan Chi using magic - so it either already makes sense and doesn't need to be in the game, or it already doesn't make sense and won't make sense even if they show it in the game.
