So Kung Jin is Gay

As is sexual orientation, according to his conversation with Raiden about the White Lotus "not accepting him for who he was."

I took that as him being a thief, it never crossed my mind as him being gay. I think people are interpreting him as gay but I still do not think he is. You can interpret anyone as gay.

That's what I took it to mean too, but apparently someone asked 1 of the NRS guys if that's what it meant on Twitter (that he's gay), and they confirmed that.

Can you give us an example of what it would take for NRS to be coerced? What is the difference between say... customers of a restaurant wanting steak added to the menu and gamers of our generation wanting more diverse characters in their game? Where do you draw the line between people constantly asking and NRS being bullied into something they don't want to do? Cause the only time I've ever seen I suppose some kind of force in media in the CORRECT direction was when it was actually deserved or if it was simply some academic study of current events that became a popular subject of conversation online. In short, I don't see where this coercion is coming from or how can I determine what is coercion by a customer and just garden variety demand?
I gave an example for the movie Noah that came out last year. It was criticized heavily for not having characters of colour in it. It's not that big of a deal.

That's criticism, not coercion. Coercion would have been something like a small group of radical people barring or somehow managing to keep people from seeing the movie. We are well within our rights to call out the failures of artists. That's not coercion and yeah... they were wrong to not include people of color in a movie... about people of color both Egyptian and Hebrew. But no one forced them to do it right. Clearly they managed to make the movie they wanted and it failed because no one thought it was accurate or good. These are totally fair criticisms. That's not coercion of any stripe.

Edit: Actually, I realized I was talking about Exodus which did get criticized for the same mistake as Noah. IIRC, Noah got criticized by Christians for some reason.

That criticism will in turn put pressure on studios. HBO and Game of Thrones have been criticized for the ratio of female to male nudity in the show (even though the women that are nude the majority the time are playing whores) so in the first episode of the first season, they deliberately started showing male ass whenever they could.

I see no problem with that. :3

Lol listen, you and I will always be at odds when it comes to progressiveness and political correctness in media. Let's just agree to disagree here.

As a former fanfiction writer, I use to have a lot of fans and I often had female leads

I can't tell you how many times people have tried to tell me I shoulda made a certain character pregnant, or that a specific character is overly sexualized, or that the gag parts are cheesy.

How about instead of trying to force my work to match your personal desire, and let me target the audience I wish to target.

Could I possibly gain more views by listening to some demands? Possibly but sometimes maximum profit isn't always the goal. Yuri and yaoi anime are pretty rare. That's because the majority rule, and you target them for a shot at big money. But some people want to make work targeted for a specific audience. What if a bunch of straight guys go into a manga about man on man love, and demand straight characters.

Just let people make what they want, support it or don't and simply say why you don't.

Don't demonized people because they didn't put a female lead or a gay guy or girl in their fictional setting.

Speaking of Game of Thrones. They are also getting heat for making the Sand Snakes too white when they should be darker as they live in a desert. At least give them a nice tan... C'mon.

I mean, I like Tyene Sand's actress so I guess it isn't all bad and she is said to be pale in the books I believe.

Ok just my 2 cents on this topic. I have seen quite a few people on here say "who cares if he is gay or not I just love to play the game" And for you guys who said that, great job. That is how I feel also. I see this game as it is a bad-ass fighting game. I don't understand why sexuality has to be brought up in the game or as a topic to this franchise.

Now I have heard people say " it is to show the gay's feel a part of, or included in this nature of game, so on and so forth, however so involved. My question is? Is the only way gay people will participate or take part of something or embrace an idea is buy having a gay person in it? And if so to me I feel that is kind of shallow in the reverse roll what is politically correct by any means.

And speaking on politically correct. NRS over the years has done the following.

Women fighters = Gender Equality.
Black fighters = Racism.
Kenshi = Disabled People.
Kung Jin = Gay Rights.

Hell all we need is a Muslim fighter and we can cover religion on the politically correct NRS chart.

Again I think this is a very stupid topic, but I see with NRS path it was something they would take, I just feel in a universe of ripping of head and killing does ones sexual preference really need to be spoken about?

I'm gay and have been playing MK since MK1, I never even asked for a gay character but it's nice that they put one in. I think your thought process on this is way out there to be honest. Characters that reflect the real world (yes even in a fantasy game) aren't a bad thing. Of course with every character in the game so far being straight and I'm guessing you are as well you may not understand what it feels like to have little to no representation in many parts of life. Again this wasn't a necessary thing, it's not NRS bowing to pressure from the outside as there wasn't any kind of movement going on for this to happen it's just a nice gesture by the studio. I also take issue with your last point about people of certain religious beliefs being included, religion is a choice and being gay is not.

Well, I watched again (forgot to comment here), and that line of Raiden really could have mean that Kung Jin is an homossexual.

I thought it was a clever way of introducing the theme. Wasn't appealing and served the story as all other things are and should be. It was just a dialogue, I can see that as "writer's will" and I'm fine.

Kenshi was not designed to appease the disabled. He is yet another character based on Zatoichi, an iconic character in martial arts films.

Don't demonized people because they didn't put a female lead or a gay guy or girl in their fictional setting.

At the same time, don't demonize people because they do.

It does seem like there are people who just can't accept that NRS did this in MKX, but would rather think they were forced into it. That's just as bad.

No writer should ever be forced (or feel forced) to include anything that they feel doesn't fit in their work.

That being said, I don't think NRS was forced into anything. I think they're noticing the change in what is generally accepted these days and they are adapting to it.

You are correct a director has every right to make whatever movie he wants, but he's not showing this in his livingroom. He's presenting this to the public. In the case that you are talking about, Noah is a historical film, correct? Facts should be represented as closely as possible IMO. It may not matter to you but are you Jewish, are you even religious? These are things that having meaning to many.
But yes, ANY company, director, or person has a right to do whatever for their product but it doesn't mean people have to support it.

At the same time, don't demonize people because they do.

Who's demonizing them because they do?

I've already said I'm fine with tier decision and I also think it wasn't forced. But with SJW lately you can never know.
