Shin Megami Tensei

I thought I was doing really well, but it's now September 9th and I still have 12 links to finish.

Do I need to max them all in a playthrough to fuse the Telos? Or do I just need all of the key items in my inventory?

You need to do them all in one go for Telos.

I've been playing it on the PQ themed 3DS.
I'm about 20 hours into PQ and I'm loving it. It's cute, it's funny and actually pretty difficult. I didn't expect anything less though since it's a mix between Persona and Etrian Odyssey.

Battles are hard just because SP drains fast and it doesn't have a set pattern in battles. It could be P3MC, Akihiko, enemy, Aigis, enemy, enemy, enemy, Chie, Yosuke and then next turn it'd be enemy, Aikhiko, Aigis, enemy, Chie, enemy, P3MC and Yosuke.
The soundtrack is great per usual. They have some regular P3 and P4 songs thrown in there as well from time to time.
When you're not doing the labyrinth you can sell stuff to Theo and he can make and then sell you armor and weapons with the stuff.
You can also take a 'stroll' and you can watch and do interactions with mix of the cast. It's a great fan service game, as in they did a great job depicting how you think the characters would react to one another and not in a fighting setting lol.

It definitely sounds like EO, minus the dynamic turn order and character interaction.

Elizabeth does the fusions and healing until you meet the other cast and then Margaret takes over the fusions and Elizabeth stays with the healing. This is what sucks though. Elizabeth is a gold digger for real. Every time you ask her for healing she raises her price 100 yen. Literally every time. First time is like 200 yen and then next it's 300, then 400...500...600...700...800... and it doesn't stop.

After every use? That's pretty harsh. In Etrian Odyssey, the price for healing was scaled to the level of the party members, the higher the level of your party, the more cost starts to ramp up.

Yes. Literally every time you use her she raises her price. You get yen after every battle and you can find chests and what not, but when you battle you lose SP and then you have to go back to Elizabeth. It's a very harsh cycle after awhile.

I've said it before, physical skills are always the way to go for grinding. Restoring health is much easier than restoring SP.

At least in Persona it is. I don't know if Q has different properties to it.

I feel like enemies are way stronger in PQ than the ones in P3/P4, so I'm going for criticals with skills and not physical since I'd rather get the fight over quicker and try to take less damage.

Yeah that's true too.

That's how I grind in Monad. At first I could only pick on single Shadows and just exploit their weaknesses until they died. But now my team is strong enough to go in there and wreck shop.

Another thing I found out, you can totally use your team as bait against extremely powerful monsters. I went into Monad with Yukari, Aki and Aigis. All of them around level 30. And I set them to "Engage enemy shadows". They would run up without me, attack level 90+ monsters and kill them as long as I kept healing them from outside the fight. Pretty OP lol

Using them as bait and healing from the outside is a great strategy. I never would have thought of that.

That's a good team selection you got there too. That's the best team.

Yeah, helps when I'm trying to find the access point or get to an item.

That's the team I used my first playthrough. I swapped Aigis for Junpei this time. I know he sucks, but I just feel like having him around.

I used Aki, Aigis and Yukari on my first, then swapped out Aigis for Titsuru so I wouldn't have two people weak to electricity and then for my third and fourth I went back to Aki, Aigis and Yukari lol.

Yeah I'm thinking I might do a third playthrough immediately after I beat this one.
Still wish I could erase my memory of this game though, so the ending can dropkick me just as hard as it did the first time.

Mitsuru and Ken were the worst for me in P3 and that's why I don't use them lol. Aigis never really messed up for me though that I can remember. The only person in my main party that constantly fvcks up is Yukari, so that's why for the most part, I set her to healing, but even then she does dumb shit like wind breaker.

Aigis was the only party member that would always choke, since I never used Ken, cause he's...Ken.

I have yet to watch any of the P4G anime yet besides the first 2 episodes. I'll probably just wait till they're out in English. I'm still waiting on that first P3 movie to be in English too.

You should really give it a go, awesome to see some of the most hilarious moments animated, especially since the anime put some fun twists on things like during the scooter event, Yu had to complete all these tasks with different people in a limited time so he's flying around all over the place

I just watched the wedding scenes in Persona Q.
As much as I despise the art style, I might have to buy this game now.

Spoiler:
Does the story of Ultimax talk about Minato's death at all?

Currently trying to beat the Ultimate Opponent in Monad. I didn't know about the "hidden rules"

Hidden rules? The only rule I remember off the top of my head is you have to be alone and can't use your party.

Spoiler:
Ummm. They don't really talk about it directly per se, but MC himself is brought up.

The wedding scenes are hilarious. All the interactions between the cast are great.

How using Armageddon or Personas that nullify elements causes her to spam Megidaloan

I think I can get passed the art style enough to enjoy the interactions. I might have to play P4 again though to get used to everybody. For some reason playing 3 again has made me hate the cast in 4. Not sure why.

Spoiler:
Also I forget where I read it, I think it was on the P3 wikia, but it was something about Elizabeth leaving the velvet room to save Minato from the seal. Do you think anything is ever going to come from this? Like do you think they'll actually bring him back?

Ohhhhh yeah hahaha. Armageddon was the first thing I did on her when I first did her battle. That was a big mistake.

Spoiler:
Elizabeth actually brings that up in the Arena story mode and somewhat in P4. Yeah Elizabeth left The Velvet Room to save MC from his fate as the seal. Margaret brings up Elizabeth leaving The Velvet Room when you beat the Margaret boss battle in P4.
Honestly, I don't know what I think about bringing MC back. I'd love to see what they'd do with him if they did bring him back and I'd love to see HOW Elizabeth brought him back, but on the other hand, if they do bring him back, it sorta ruins the P3 ending for me. It would be kinda like a slap to the face and would ruin all the feels to the ending of P3.

I think that might be it too. P4 was really goofy. 3 had it's funny moments, and Junpei was always there to lighten the mood, but it seemed like nearly every character in 4 was meant for comic relief. I liked the dark atmosphere that 3 had, the foreboding feeling of doom towards the end of the game. Nyx >>> the Fog all day long.

Spoiler:
Plus death actually meant something in 3. Teddie and Nanako both come back to life after they die. Kinda softened the blow for me.

I feel the same exact way about that Elizabeth.

Spoiler:
I also had the same feeling, to a much lesser degree, in The Answer. I don't know, I think part of the tragedy in 3's ending isn't just that he dies, it's also that we have no idea why or what happens after. We don't get to see anybody's reaction after he closes his eyes. I still loved the Answer, it was heartbreaking to see just how badly his death affected Yukari.

Though if they do bring him back, I'd love to see a new Persona game about the now grown SEES squad. Though after you've faced Armageddon and triumphed, I don't really see how they could go any further and have it make an impact

Nyx was way cooler than Izanami. Appearance wise, story wise and even dialog wise, Nyx is just better in my opinion.

Spoiler:
During my first playthrough of P4, I had mad respect for Atlus because they straight up killed off a kid. Not even a teenager or anything, but a fvcking 6/7 year old. But once they brought her back, I lost all the mad respect but still give them credit for even killing off a kid even just for a bit because that's still pretty damn ballsy for them to do since kids dying is still a super sensitive subject for a lot of people.

The Answer is the reason why I think Yukari might be the canon relationship in P3 is Yukari. You can find more concept art of MC and Yukari together more than any other female cast member with MC as well as Yukari just being completely broken about the death of MC in The Answer. Everyone else (besides Aigis) seemed to decently cope with his death but Yukari was all sorts of fvcked up and you can tell she's a totally different person within 10 minutes of playing The Answer.

On the other hand, I also think Elizabeth might be the canon relationship because when you do her escort missions the one where you take her to your room it HEAVILY implies that they fvck rather than just saying they spent alone time together and also there's the whole saving MC thing too.

I would love to see the SEES members all grown up and not in the style of the P4G epilogue or P4Arena...or Trinity Soul

...We don't talk about Trinity Soul.

Spoiler:
Yeah they definitely get props for almost killing her lol. I liked Nanako almost as much as I liked Maiko. I really felt like I needed to protect them. And Dojima was almost as badass as Akihiko imo.

You also fukk Yuko in her social link ending. But I also think that Yukari is the canon relationship. She gets pretty jealous when you first meet Aigis. I know that Elizabeth wants the MCD but I think she's more like a guardian than anything.

I read something on the comment page of a P3P song, since Theodore was made canon by appearing in Arena, do you think that Minako exists somewhere as canon too? It's a shame she isn't in FES or Persona Q

What's Trinity Soul?
