Shin Megami Tensei

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Dude I haven't played a handheld game like this since the old Pokemon games. My eyes aren't used to this abuse anymore

Haha, that's my bad.

What did you guys name your character?

It better be Flynn YHVH dammit.

Spoiler:
you'll get that joke when you start going deeper in the SMT series

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Any tips for beating Medusa?

- abuse the hell out of Force attacks
- avoid Gun and Electric attacks
- like all bosses, Dark and Light attacks don't work
- try to use demons that don't have a weakness to Electric and/or Gun attacks, or better yet resist them
- Buffs and debuffs are always useful in drawn-out fights.

On another note, I think the art used for Medusa seems out of place with the rest of the game.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I agree, I like the design with the punk leather look, but she looks like something from an 80's cereal box

She's going to be tough though. My best dudes get shit on by guns. She took us all out with 2 attacks.
I'm level 14, close to 15 right now. Should I go grind more?

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

You don't need to grind more, 14-15 is about right. Having the right party setup is more important than just grinding anyways. Even lower-leveled enemies can hurt your party if they manage to hit a weakness. You may want to switch your current line-up for demons that don't have a weakness to Gun or Electric attacks. Otherwise, you may need to carry lots of healing consumables or pray that she misses often.

I am disappoint.

But yeah, just try and figure out what demons to use for certain bosses. I'm still rollin' with my party of Rakshasa, Clotho and Anzu. I'll probably start going on a fusion spree here in a bit when I'm done with 1 or 2 more side quests.

For the most part, the demon designs are pretty kick ass and well done, but there are a few that look like shit. Medusa being one of them.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I am FINALLY done with all of the side quests needed to continue on my Neutral playthrough. That took way too damn long. Glad I'm finally done with it though and now I can continue on with the story.

Also!

FUCK NEKOMATTA. I needed 100,000 macca to buy the silver coin (need it for one of the Challenge Quests you gotta do for Neutral) and that God damn slut did a move that took away half my money (was at 76,000 macca).

After selling a bunch of shit I finally got the silver coin, traded it for the black card and went to the Ginza shopping district and HOLY SHIT. Everything and I mean literally EVERYTHING is over the 300,000 macca price. Shit is ridiculous.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

1st world problems. Dude complaining about having 176,000 Macca when I'm still struggling to pay Charon my 2,673 debt

What do you guys put your skill points into?
I try to keep it even for the most part, but generally keep Gun weak and focus a lot on Luck and Agility & Strength & Magic

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Magic. In Nocturne, P3, P4, and DDS I am constantly worrying about my SP, so I put most of it towards magic and balance everything else out.

Also, the reason money is so hard to get is because demons don't drop macca like in past games. You have to find stuff to sell and do quest to earn money in SMTIV.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Tokyo is a maze man, it's insane.
Good music though.

Current team is Gu Huo Niao, Camazotz & Jack Frost

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Got my ass handed to me by Aniel (He uses Occult Slash which is physical and has a chance of insta-kill). That was until I realized that my demon, Decarabia had Tetrakarn which repels physical and gun attacks.

Kiss my ass Aniel.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

If they repel his attack does it have a chance to insta kill him?

That's how I felt with Medusa. I grinded from 14 to 16 so I could get Gu Huo Niao because of her repel bullet ability. Medusa kept doing the 3 shot burst on her and was getting wrecked by that damage

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

No, I don't think it has the insta-kill effect but it did do physical damage back to him which is all fine by me. I'm about to fight one of the last bosses.

Sorry if I'm not in like Flynn. LOL

Damien means "to tame", which is somewhat fitting to considering the game revolves around putting demons under your control.

In the current Medusa art, the lines were too thick and there wasn't a wasn't a whole of lot contrast in the coloring. Design-wise it might have been too complex for its own good with the skeletal snake hair.

I lol'd. Dat Uncharted 2.

That makes sense. It just bothers the shit out of me when a name is already input by default and people decide to change the name. It really REALLY pissed me off when I was watching a lets play of Persona 2: Innocent Sin PSP and the dude changed the name from Tatsuya to Cloud. I raged hard.

Well part of the reason I think she looks dumb is her facial expression. The lines were too thick, the facial expression is stupid, idk. I just think it's a really poorly done drawing.

I prefer a specialist build rather than spreading my points too thin. At every level, I put about 2-3 towards Magic, 1-2 points in Agility, and the occasional point towards Luck. Since I only learn magic skills, I don't dump any points into Strength or Dexterity. I have physical-oriented demons to make up for my deficiency in physical skills.

I lol'd. Dat Uncharted 2.

I only played Uncharted in short bursts at various console kiosks.

I heard the expression from The Terror, a character from The Tick.

LOL Cloud! Nevertheless, Final Fantasy 7 was a gateway RPG for many who grew up with the PS1, myself included. I still want to be play the 16-bit titles at some point, but my interest in the series has cooled off over time, especially after discovering other RPGs that I missed out.

I changed the name too. Only because I refuse to play a game with a character named "Flynn"

I can't do it.
