There are two story mode achievements, as in MK9; one at 50% completion and one at 100%. I would suggest that both of these will unlock a character, just as in MK9. NRS have suggested (or even confirmed) that there'll be at least one unlockable character, but nowhere have I read that they've actually specified one, or ruled out two.

I think Fujin and Shinnok as unlockables is a fair bet, with at least as good a chance as some of the other educated guesses out there. If we're going to rule out Reiko and/or Havik being playable then it's not that much of a stab in the dark.

Goro is DLC, so he likely won't appear on the actual roster like that; I think they just put him there to show his portrait and that he's actually playable (these are all -dev builds, remember) and so the DLC guys are probably in the question mark bit, as a fold-out menu.

just like how for gta 5 ps4 it was told if you pre ordered you would get 500k and i never preordered and got it the day after it came IT and magically a card with the 500k code made it into my case right. Why do you think goro is a bonus if you preorder ANYWHERE?

Chapter 5 is less than 1/3 of the way, which is still early in the game, considering that there was 17 chapters.
Either way, it doesn't matter.
People still knew by that point, early on, that Quan Chi was playable and when you unlock him in MK9 he isn't a boss either.
Quan Chi was leaked before the game came out, so they didn't need to promote him.
It's the same way that Ed's whole E3 2010 statement of "Someone who wasn't cyber before will be cyber this time" was an obvious hint at Sub-Zero.
 
Why isnt Fujin a candidate for the blood god? I see Reiko, Havik, Raiden, and Liu being tossed around. But we know from that living tower spoiler that Fujin is likely dead. Why cant the evil characters bring him back as the blood god.

How was it obvious? Could reptile not become a cyborg? If rain was included could he not have become one. And you make zero sense. Then why promote anybody? Just leak everyone and promotion isnt needed. We didnt need to see mileena today than since she was already leaked. And by that logic they won't show jax or kenshi since they are already leaked.

NRS wouldn't lie about something like that. I'd certainly be surprised if they did.

It doesn't matter how many copies of the game have a Goro code in, it's still a code and thus still DLC. If that's the case, he won't be on the default roster because he will be un-selectable for anyone who hasn't put the code in.

Also, as Seth pointed out, in the UK Goro is (apparently) exclusive to pre-orders from GAME.

This, all of this.
Although I disagree with Fujin being 1 of the unlockable characters (as much as I would love for that to be the case).
Since there is a trophy for 50% completion and 100% completion, I'm guessing that 1 is Liu Kang and 1 is Shinnok.

Remember folks, Cyber Sub-Zero and Quan Chi were the 2 unlockable characters in MK9, and none of those characters were the Sub-Boss or Boss characters in MK9.

That doesn't rule out 2 unlockable characters, just the same way that Ed Boon's E3 interview with TRMK where he said that there will be A MK4 character doesn't mean that more than 1 MK4 character won't be in.
Quan Chi and Shinnok are both in, soooooooooo...................

You get goro if you preorder the game on THE PLAYSTATION STORE and the XBOX marketplace so they input a code on there too? So what they send you a code after your already downloading the game? Lol sure. And thats in the uk. Dont compare what they are doing there to the us.

I wouldn't want to see this happen. As awesome as blood tornadoes sound, I want the bad guy to have an actual motivation for doing what he's doing. Blood God Fujin would, in all likelihood, just be a capital-E Evil douchebag out to destroy the universe for kicks and giggles.

Wait for release and we'll see what happens. It's not worth getting into a debate about hypothetically amoral marketing practice, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point, okay?
 
Im done talking About The roster. Can't wait for the final select screen to leak for all these people that think they are putting in all these extra characters.

Erron Black - Jacqui - Sonya -Jax -Shinnok and Kenshi + 17 already announced (without goro. He's DLC, so i believe he won't be permanent in the main roster, probably selectable in the unlockable character's space)

that's 23. 3 more to go. if liu kang is the boss. He won't be playable. Hopefully Fujin, Reiko and Tanya.

FYI, the new Samurai Pack DLC is up for pre-order, including some concept art.

As well as Kitana, it includes skins for Shinnok and Kenshi, which surely has absolutely confirmed them both as playable now. I know there was a mentioned leak of this before, but this stuff is confirmed as DLC now. There's no way they're not playable on the console versions now.
