Exactly.
Cassie reminds me more of Stryker or Jax with that Spec Ops variation.
Sonya never used guns, bombs or homing missiles.
That's more of a Jax / Stryker thing to use bombs and guns.

I agree with you 100%, but people will look at that article and come up with a "Well, they guy said that there were some mistranslations, so that could be a mistranslation too." type of counter-argument.

yeah but didn't it also say Kotal Khan was Shao Kahn's son?

but i guess thats way more likely to be mistranslated...or were they making assumptions based on Cassie? i dont know haha

The Kotal Kahn thing could have been mistranslated to being descendant ruler, rather than a son.

You see?
Kotal Kahn is the next descendant as far as being the next Emperor to rule Outworld goes, but not the descendant of Shao Kahn himself.
I could easily see where that could have gotten mixed up.

As for the other 3, the article said that those 3 are playable.

- Johnny,Sonya and Liu Kang are in the game and playable. Nothing confirmed if they will be in the roster or just playable in story mode or somewhere else. Different incarnations may hint to a place in the roster but Boon won't confirm.

IMO, it wouldn't make sense to have them be playable in story mode, but not in ladder or versus mode.

That would be absolutely devastating, what would be worse is if they make em DLC for use in modes other than Story...

With the industry the way it is today, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I actually wouldn't mind that if neither of them had MK X story involvement, but since they have Cassie, yeah I hope they're on the main roster too.


I don't see them doing that though, given that all MK9 characters on the roster has some part in the story (even if it was a minor part).
The only characters in MK9 that didn't have ANY story involvement were DLC.

If it's true I hope for "returning" he only means the MK-1-2-3/MK9 cast, otherwise not much room especially if the remaining 3 of the original 7 are in...

Basically there are 8 spots for returning characters left... Ermac, Fujin, Reptile, Tanya... those are a safe bet... both for being included and playable. The remaining 4? You have Johnny, Sonya, Mileena... then there's Cyrax and Sektor... and then the obvious Shinnok and Quan-Chi (who might or might not be playable this time)... and you also have Sareena, Skarlet, Rain, Kenshi, Li-Mei, Nitara... Take your pick.

Is 24 the concrete final roster number, though?
What if 30 is the final main roster number, or if it's something closer to 30, like 28?

MK9 had 28 characters on the main roster.

Steve Beran said that it was close to what MK9 had.

yeah i think we get 12 old and 12 new with 4 unlokables which being two new and two old to total of 28 plus dlc of course
 
I notice the top row on the character selection is old and the bottom is new. We have 12 spots for the top row and I wonder where the DLC spot is going to be at?

I guess we can agree that 24 is the minimum we can expect, with 30 being the initial maximum. Personally, I'm going with the amount of slots on the current select screen - 24. If Shinnok and Quan-Chi won't be playable, that saves us 2 spots for someone else. And there is a chance that will be the case. Or they could be unlockable, which is perhaps even more likely, and will be somewhere else on the screen on their own. And then there's the Johnny and Sonya equation. At least one of them should be in, if not both, but at the same time there's no guarantee - only a probability. Mileena, Baraka, Cyrax, Noob, Sektor, Sareena, Skarlet, Rain, Kenshi, Tremor, Li-Mei, Nitara, Havik, Shujinko (aka "the rest") have the highest chance of returning from the whole MK cast as well, but only a few of them will actually make it. It's pretty hard to pick from them as chances of all of them are somewhat equal. So the only ones we can safely bet on are indeed Ermac, Reptile, Tanya and Fujin - all four of which are well known, demanded (especially Reptile and Ermac) and very relevant (Fujin, Tanya) to the story. In my mind there never was any doubt these 4 will make it.
 
How about relegating all new characters beyond the 4 revealed to DLC and give the rest of the primary roster spots to already-established characters?

how about no mortal kombat x is about passing the touch to a newer generation while celebrating the past also so i think we will get 12 new and 12 old along with unlokables also plus dlc

How about going the Tekken route instead? New characters plus the ENTIRE roster of the previous game? It worked for Tekken twice, what's wrong with doing the same with MK?

That would be way too many characters in one game. You act as though certain MK characters have never been excluded from a game before.
 
Hypothetical situation here, so hear me out:


I'm thinking 14 or 15 returning (some MK9 and some post-MK3) and 14 or 15 new MK X characters.
28 - 30 characters combining old and new sounds fair, IMO.

If it's closer to 28 or 30, then the Original 7 would leave 7 to 8 more from both the post-MK3 era and MK9.
This would also allow for the 14 rumored new characters.
