I truly believe that Goro will be available on Day 1, with the people that don't pre-order having to buy him.
I don't think Goro will be time-released DLC, for some reason.
Something tells me that NRS will want to make Goro available as soon as possible, for Tourney reasons.

Quan Chi is a Netherrealm native, a real demon called an Oni, just like Moloch, but has evolved due to his magical powers into looking human. He was never "dead and gone to Netherrealm" like Scorpion and Noob.

We really have no idea of knowing that. It was never stated as a FACT because nobody has lived as long as Quan Chin to know what he was 20.000 years ago (maybe just Shinnok, Raiden and Shao Kahn). Even if it is suggested in his bios that he was originally a demon, the NRS could tell us "the truth" in a later game, if they chose to make Quan Chi a former Edenian count or something.
Which would be pretty cool imo

They showed us Shinnok & Liu Kang in the stream. Only Sonya, Jax, his daughter and Kenshi are left from the main roster but all of them appeared in a story mode trailer. 3 of these are MK9 holdovers and are less of a reveal than last night's demonstration, so I'm starting to think we're still in for a surprise in terms of an unlockable character.
That might or might not be the final boss since supposedly there was a quote from Ed Boon stating he didn't like final bosses being playable characters...
