Ok, you're about 2 responses too late...
Did you read any of the last posts on the last page? I assume not. When you do, I'll respond to the part about Argus being Rain's father (which is yet to be proven in the new timeline).
Anyways, how the hell am I wrong about Mileena when the reason you gave was the EXACT same thing I stated? It's actually you that is wrong. In the prime universe, Mileena was originally created to completely replace Kitana if she were to turn away from his influence, but the flaws in her design (her Tarkatan teeth) made him instead make her keep a close eye on Kitana and make sure she stays loyal to Kahn, all the while pretending to be her "sister". Shao Kahn was more fond of Kitana in the original timeline, in this one he is more fond of Mileena, his "true" daughter, and she was not created with the purpose of watching over his "sister" like in the original timeline. In the original, she also developed a deep hatred for her sister, but in MK9 she doesn't have this jealousy due to only being created during MK2.
Edenia and Outworld weren't merged when Shao Kahn killed all the Edenian warriors that would later become Ermac. His UMK3 bio stated that his souls were deceased Outworld souls, which implies that they were native to Outworld.
And about Kabal, correct me if I'm wrong, but his MK3 ending said that he was a Black Dragon member when he was severly injured by Kahn's extermination squads.
And a cameo does not always mean anything in MK games or any game. That's why it's called a cameo. Are you going to tell me Rain's cameo or Kintaro's cameo in Deception's conquest meant anything canonically?
Raiden only changed many of the events of MK1 onwards, solely because of his visions, which he obviously didn't receive until the start of the 10th MK tournament in Earthrealm. He alone never changed anything before then. NRS just redid some of the established things with this particular entry being a reboot.
"I am a creation of sorcery, the hybrid of a Tarkatan warrior and the Princess of Edenia. My purpose was to eventually replace my... sister... Kitana, from whom I was cloned. Kitana regained her memories, however, and uncovered the plot to supplant her. After Shinnok's invasion, she cast me into her prison, where I remained until Baraka freed me. My hatred for Kitana consumes my every thought. But Baraka tells me that his new lord, the Dragon King, has possession of Kitana's body and uses it as his personal bodyguard. My only chance for revenge against her will be to serve Onaga and pose as the Princess, leading her precious alliance of Edenia and Outworld to their doom."
Oh I read all your responses... you just cant follow along apparently. Ill walk you through it....
Ill start with the cameo thing. Every little cameo in all of the previous games have meant something in a future game. Such as Blaze in the pit background in mk2, noob saibot having sub zero's fatality in mk4, fox mentioned rains dagger, and even accidental cameos (or glitches) turned out to mean something in future games, thus every cameo to this point has meant something, so how are this game's cameos any different?
Which leads me to the fact that Daegon is clearly seen in the background of the pit which makes sense with the old timeline due to the fact that he would now be awake and had killed argus and now running the red dragon. (Oh by the way the black dragon was always splinter group of the Red Dragon which was formed by Daegon which goes along with you saying nothing was changed by raiden before mk1 but I digress.... ) Anyway, the mere existence of daegon means hes still relevant in the broad picture of MK and still gives credence to both him and Rain having the same father.
The Mileena thing.... heres a quote from her Deception Bio:
In the original Timeline, AS WELL as this one, she was made to replace Kitana.
Your splitting hairs here on Ermac considering theres no time given for Ermacs creation other than appearing at MK1, so had he been created just before MK1, then guess what? edinea and outworld are one and souls of outworld/edinea soldiers is a tomato tomoto type of argument here.
My thing with Kabal was saying that since events have already been changed before we got to the MK3 events, those changes could have caused things such as Kabal leaving the black dragon before he was ever injured, and it turns out he was still injured by kahn's extermination squads, much like how jax still got metal arms but only this time he had to instead of choosing to. Again because of how events changed. Your dealing with the theories of fate and the butterfly effect here.
And this game was not a complete reboot. It started with Armageddon and went back to mk1 with visions of the original timeline guiding the story. Then with the dialogue between quan chi and shinnok, the outcome was presumed to be all planned out by them to change the original storyline.
Ok thats not even the case with mk2.....@Norticus- Read her MK2 bio. Her purpose was to watch over Kitana and make sure she stayed loyal to Kahn. In the original timeline, she was ORIGINALLY supposed to completely supplant Kitana, but the flaws in her design made them instead make her watch over Kitana. In the new timeline, she was merely created to completely supplant Kitana regardless of her Tarkatan teeth. That's how she died in MK2, because Mileena was watching her, and she saw her talking with Earthrealm humans, so Mileena attacked and Kitana killed her, which revealed that she was no longer loyal to Kahn.
as you can see, she was always created as a backup or replacement. however in the original timeline she turned on her own, and in the new timeline, it was accelerated by raiden ****ing things up.After Shao Kahn conquered the realm of Edenia and merged it with Outworld, he decided he would keep the former king's young daughter Kitana alive and raise her as his own daughter. Although Kitana grew up loyal to the emperor, unaware that he had murdered her real father, Kahn feared if she should ever discover the truth about her past, she'd turn against him.
Kahn then ordered his sorcerer Shang Tsung to create an evil, vicious, and loyal clone of Kitana who would take her place. Tsung combined Kitana's essence with a Tarkatan's to achieve this purpose. Given the name "Mileena" and introduced as Kitana's twin sister, Mileena's only noticable physical defect was her Tarkatan teeth which she kept covered with a mask. Instead of replacing Kitana as originally planned, Mileena would be used to watch Kitana and make sure she remained loyal to Kahn. As Kahn feared however, Kitana did finally discover the truth about her past and family. Although she continued to feign loyalty to Shao Kahn, she secretly plotted and waited for the right time to overthrow him.
During Mortal Kombat II, Shao Kahn began to grow suspicious of Kitana and Mileena was ordered to watch over her sister. After finding out Kitana was indeed conspiring with the Earthrealm warriors, Mileena attacked Kitana, but Kitana proved to be the superior fighter and killed her. Mileena's essence descended into Netherrealm (Mortal Kombat's hell), fuelling her hatred for her twin sister.
Overanalytical? Kettle and the pot a little? You are being overanalytical. A cameo does NOT always mean anything important. Daegon fighting on the Pit means he was fighting on the Pit. Simple as that. So, I will say this again, did Kintaro's cameo in the Living Forest in the Deception konquest mean anything important?
You are correct about the game not being a complete reboot. But I was talking about the overall game, not just the story.
I also see your point about Kabal.
Outworld and Edenia are merged, but that doesn't magically convert Edenians into Outworlders. They are still different species, and they need to point that out. If he is Edenian, then they'd say he's Edenian like they did for his bio in MK9 and for Rain and Kitana in MKT, not an Outworlder like they said Ermac was in UMK3. Fact of the matter is, they changed Ermac's souls from being native to Outworld from being native to Edenia, and also being part of the Edenian Resistance. Had they said his souls were a part of a vanquished resistance group in his original UMK3 bio, you would've had a point. They didn't, though.
Ermac is a Fusion of many souls destroyed in Outworld's wars who came to be controlled by Shao Kahn and his Shadow Priests.
The vignette is on IGN now.
The end of it says new combatants this summer, but only shows the 4 we know about (3 by name, 1 by silhouette.)

Well that fatality in the video was lame :S
But thanks for the link!
*Sigh*
Oh well, at least there's the Explosion fatality.

awesome vignettethat guy's voice rocks. also, the fatality looks pretty brutal , the only part that's a biiiit meh is the water blade. I'd probably prefer something else water related to finish the opponent off but that looks good too. still hoping for a lightning fatality return
