RAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIN.

Love his sleek new look, his updated UMK3 moveset and just about everything. Finally I get to have my main in this new game.

I love all the attention he is getting. I remember posting here around the time MK2011 was leaked and it was basically me against the world. Love all the fans that came out and I hope it's enough to see Rain in the main cast of future games

I'm actually suprised too, I remember I use to be like the sole rain fan among the people I knew, and on MKA online.
 
I see Rain being tough to be defeated, hard time, hard fight ..... his gameplay / moveset resembles a bit as playing a mix of Reptile, with some Scorpion combos look alike, mixed with offensive teleports, and that nice lightning pop up attack , I see a hell of match against very good Rain skilled players ........

Very complete character Rain seems to be ..... don't know about his zoning possibilities, but, as anti-zoning, he seems to have very good tools. Looks that he has a cunning gameplay to avoid being caught in cheap traps.
 
LOL as if Rain fans gave a damn if Rain looks gay or not LOOOL

Plus, Nightwolf was the one who STOLE Rain's lightning in the first place, Rain had it back UMK3 and Nightwolf only got it in Deception. And if Nightwolf sucks or not, it's your opinion, he's universally considered high to top tier in MK9 so I don't give a damn about those kind of posts. You don't even try the character and you're already sucking it.

As a Nightwolf player, I did notice a HUGE diference between Rain and Nightwolf's lightning.
Nightwolf's lightning CANNOT be put into a combo, it's a complete unblockable, perfect to punish characters who duck or try to zone you from distance. It has many uses actually. It is not a pop-up. His enhanced lightning however is very, very hard to put into a combo and it has a small pop-up effect. If you use F+2 combo starter with Nightwolf (Neck Stab), you can easily do lightning as a safe move. Plus, Nightwolf's lightning is white.

Rain's lightning however is purple and it has a HUGE TREMENDOUS pop-up. Reminds me a lot of UMK3 days. Not quite sure what's the difference between the normal and enhanced lightning besides the number os strikes though.

As for the other "rip moves". I do see his teleport kick as unecessary but I am pretty sure they managed to do it different from Sektor. Actually, it barely looks like Sektor's. As for Noob's move LOL it's just a grab.

I really, really, really dig Rain's water jet. Awesome!!! Guys, I cannot even say how excited I am for Rain.

Rain may be gay, then I am gay for him LOOOL Fantastic character.
 
The only thing in common between Sektor's teleport uppercut and Rain's teleport water jet kick, is that both characters go down into the ground through a portal and pop out on the opposite side of the opponent.

I originally thought that the water jet kick gained the teleport property when a bar was spent to make it an EX version, however later in the video Rain uses the EX version of the standard water jet kick to continue a juggle on Ermac. So Rain probably has a standard water jet kick that he can use as an anti-air, and he has a teleport version to most likely get close to an opponent.

As for the lightning, Nightwolf had lightning based abilities dating back to Mortal Kombat 3 when he channeled the lightning into his tomahawk and then release it on his opponent. The only thing that the two have in common is that a storm cloud forms before the lightning comes out. They are both a different color and look to have different properties. The EX version is even different. It is just like it was back in Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

Nightwolf's lightning knocked the opponent down, while Rain's was a pop up.

Seriously I wonder how many people who complain about Rain "stealing" moves from Sektor, Noob Saibot, Nightwolf and Reptile are the same people that want Frost for DLC?
 
Some clarifications about Rain :

- He is not gay, he is a mofo that uses purple, purple color in Japan means "death", so, he is a deadly guy, hehe ..... purple is also associated with royalty and nobility

- Lots of special moves sharing same results , animations, whatever ..... if so, every projectile moves that travels straight direction on screen, are copycat of each other, so, what's the matter ?

- Rain is being portrayed with his original moves, so, this is a nice touch ..... NRS want to keep every old character update in MK9, with strong ties to their old past incarnations, so, they are doing all right keeping Rain on this line .......

- Rain comes to stay ..... XD
 
I think his point was that they're the same type of move,lightning is lightning you can't say "hey but there different colors"

Or one of them doesn't pop up,it's still the same..an rains a different character so of course sum subtlties are different.

He still grabs like noob,he just let's go at the end..he still teleports like sektor but of course u don't expect to see the matrix under him.

Their the same moves with a Rain influence..But I could care less I love rain...I was just saying,

Last thing:almost every1 in Mk has sum1 else's moves. ex: Kung Lao anti air spin, Baracka anti air spin..Kung Lao dive kick..Cyber subby dive kick...mk is known for recycling..

If the two lightnings belong to two completely kind of gameplay style, then it shouldn't matter. Nightwolf is a defensive combo-based character and his lightning reflects that, it helps to keep the opponent down and far from him, Rain however seems to be a more agressive special move-based one, nothing better than a huge pop-up lightning to keep the combo on.

The phrase you're looking for is: I could NOT care less. By saying you could care less, it shows that you do care. Not trying to start anything, it's just I used to misuse that phrase a lot too.



OT: Rain is going to be badass. Interested in seeing his fatalities in full.

ha me too. up to that point in the video I thought hey this guy seems pretty cool. but then I saw that and I loved it.

I wasn't to sure about this guy but then again I wasn't to sure about smoke either when I first played him and he's my main now. so who knows I may love him.
 
Well i watch the rain trailer like 5 times yesterday and 1 time today. Man he is wayy cooler than in MKT. I'll use him in a tag team with sub-zero or raiden. Now that would be cool. I already got the money to get him. But people beware, your so-call psn friends might try to bribe you into gamesharing rain on psn hahaha

Ohh btw OP, here is a render of MK(2011) Rain. You can add it to the other renders. Might have some imperfections. I'm not the greatest at that stuff.

Purple is one of the manliest colors out there. The Roman Praetorian Guard (badasses of the ancient world) wore purple head to toe under black armor. Like an army of Rains.
