He was in MK Trilogy, he had a biography and was one of shao khans generals. He betrayed his home world and former friend kitana to side with outworld so Kitana looks at him as a coward who sold out.

And his moves are sick.

I would rather have Rain in than Quan Chi. I'm sorry all you Quan chi fans but he has nothing to do with the story of the original trilogy. So he brought back scorpion, big deal. He didnt have any hand in the events of the first three games besides plotting behind the scenes for Shinnoks return.

Btw i didn't read the leaks so if they changed his story to be more involved then please tell me but don't spoil me with specifics.

I disagree Rain deserves a spot in the roster over Sheeva

I enjoyed playing as Rain. He had some cool moves/combos etc. etc. I barely played as Quan Chi or Sheeva. I tried them out of course, just never really liked their moves. Hopefully Rain will be DLC.

quanchi not only has a better story and is a better character but he looks cooler too. Hes not some retro ninja wannabe. Rain is trash, glad hes dlc enough said. bad thread!!!

Quan Chi has always been a pivotal part of Mortal Kombat lore. The idea of putting in a pallet swap ninja over him is absurd.

Both of them are tite, but i would have to choose quan chi simply bc I have played more with him. Hope both make their way in bc rain's water moves are nice. ...wait I just thought about it, quan chi really didnt have much to do with this part of the story, rain was in it. So I guess i would give the nod to rain bc i would like the game to be as close to the trilogy as possible. Let quan chi be DLC or a major player in the next mk

Rain is lame.

He's purple....purple.

Ed Boon said he will be DLC along with the other "obscure" MK characters.

I'd buy Rain as DLC.

I always liked his moves, and in Armageddon they made him pretty sweet.

I just have to forgive him for having possibly the worst fatality ever, the upside down uppercut!

I will say this and this only (I don't want to ruin anything for everyone so if you have questions, message me.).

While you may or may not prefer someone over another, it is, in my opinion, NRS chose a very good roster for the story. Everyone that is in, from my understanding, has an important role and they don't have any "throwaway" characters.

I'm not saying Rain is a throwaway chracter-- I like Rain-- but... the way they chose things to go and who they chose to include makes the story amazing.

Thats fine with me but purple is the color of Kings/Princes. It never bothered me...they could do well in revamping his looks-alot. I like Rain but never cared much for his Armageddon attire

I like rain but Quan Chi bringing back scorpion is a big deal. And lets face it Rain betrayed his people but who hasn't. Quan Chi is responsible for major character events. Plus we have all the fan favorite ninjas in leaving one out from the start is fine. DLC will be Rain's best friend.

His Armageddon attire made him look like a sissy. He looked like some corny purple magician, rather than a ninja.

Sorry, Quan chi is cooler, Rain is only a swap palette ninja.
Same with Sheeva, is only a Boobed goro.

Exactly.

Besides, Boon asked on his twitter which character should be DLC out of Rain, Shinnok, Kenshi, Robo-smoke, Tanya, or a new character and so far most people on twitter and other places have wanted Rain. So it's highly likely that he'll be the first DLC character for the game.
