PS3/X360 versions - do they even exist?!

So uh, not sure if this is true or not, but just a heads up that Amazon pushed back the PS3 version's release date to Dec 31... (I had preordered the PS3 version back when I wasn't planning to get a PS4 and just didn't get around to canceling yet, so I got the notification in my email.)

Yes, ive heard that it has been pushed back as well.
Would anyone even trust this company to do a Satisfactory port of MKX anyway?
SHAME SHAME!!!!!

During the Jason stream, Ed Boon acknowledged all of the issues the game had. The netcode, microtransactions, PC port and mobile game. I don't think he even mentioned the last gen port though. Makes you wonder if it got canned. Last gen ports of Dying Light and Arkham Knight got cancelled too iirc

A couple of places here JB HIFi and EB had it listed as December 31st (EB in the instore system) around early April but it didn't sit right with me so I questioned it. I spoke to someone at my local EB mid April and the December 31st is a default date in the system when they don't know the release date hence why it's the end of the year. Hopefully, it will come out end of June latest but yeah I think the Gamestop date is probably the best to go on at the moment. If that changes then it could be anytime after June...fingers crossed anyway.

I honestly think it probably will be getting canned. It hasn't been acknowledged as even existent since march.
But then I remember that there are already thousands of people who pre-ordered it on PS3.
I just dunno what their plan is. At least a screenshot would reassure us.

Nah, they won't cancel it. Can't. But I don't think we're going to see a screenshot until release. We didn't get anything for the PC version either. Last-gen was supposed to come out later this month, May 29th, but it was delayed to mid-June. I'm in contact with the publisher so I know. It's June 19th for now and I believe that to be final.

Saw this on mortalkombatonline:

"Contacted HVS' Facebook page via PM. Asked them about the ports being possibly cancelled, and I got this:
"As it stands, no the 360/PS3 version of MKX have not been cancelled. They are still being worked on, and WB will announce an official release date as soon as they are ready."
Also asked them about the gamestop release date and I received the following response:
"We can answer that. The date of June 2nd was a placeholder date that many retailers used, and was never provided by WB. You can absolutely reach out to WB if you have any more specific options, but until a release date is officially announced they will not be able to provide much more detail."
So yeah,it's still summer. If you have any doubts regarding these ports, ask HVS on facebook(via PM) or contact WB. It's good news as well, because this means the ports are still in development."

Seems legit and also coincides with Mr. Ice's contact, just gotta sit tight for another month playing MKX on the mobile. I've finished all the achievements except for the Klassic Mileena skin and Ninja Mime Johnny Cage for obvious reasons might as well keep aiming for Gold and Silver packs to pass the time.

This part...

We can answer that. The date of June 2nd was a placeholder date that many retailers used, and was never provided by WB.

... is the reason I don't trust any info about such things as release dates that aren't coming directly from the horse's mouth, in this case NRS/WB. Any date coming from any retailer are untrustworthy until they've been officially confirmed.

Who cares about that old crap anyway.

... just kidding. Still, I'm not so confident in the last gen port. Hope it doesn't dissapoint.

I don't think for old gen players, it'll get canceled.

As much as I'm not the kind of person that immediately goes bonkers over something on Twitter, at least Boon replied to someone who asked if old gen players will get some kind of compensation:

After hearing about yet another delay I had to check again with the publisher to see what's up, because I know how much it sucks, and according to their latest info the last-gen versions definitely aren't being cancelled and are now aimed to being released around mid-August.

Really?

I know that I'm asking for too much and that I should have upgraded by now or be grateful that there's even a last gen version and all of that, but four months for a downgrade? MKX itself might be a great game, but the release could've been handled way better.

Well, NRS aren't handling the port themselves, so who knows?

While 4 months for a downgrade may seem like a lot, you have to consider the following:

1) The game is being ported by an external company, HVS, not NRS.

2) HVS started working on the ports (at least the last-gen ones) after MKX went gold, ie. just a month ago.

3) HVS have at the same time been working on the PC version, which has been their focus since launch since it needed a lot of fixing.

4) HVS will have to be clever about what exactly will they downgrade. They are basically just going to compress everything they can without sacrificing the gameplay, but it's a bit harder than that since last-gen is a different architecture altogether.

5) While last-gen will boost the sales a bit, it's hardly the focal point and is more of a bonus and good will. MKX already broke several records with PS4/XOne alone.

99% they won't cancel the ports at this point, because they know very well what that would cause, but if I were you I'd still pray because of that 1%. You just never know.

All I can tell you is that I've been told just yesterday that the new targeted window is mid-August. Maybe something to do with Gamescom. Don't really know. And yes, there is some kind of compensation being considered, but it is unknown at this point what it could be. Free in-game stuff (probably coins/skins), DLC discount or slightly lower MSRP are supposedly all on the cards. It is likely it will be one of them.

Anyhow, I wouldn't expect the ports sooner than second half of July. That's the earliest date.

But please don't take my word for all of this. Just passing on what I know. Mainly because I almost bought a PS3 version myself. It sucks.

You're welcome.

Please do not have this mindset. You're not asking for much, nor should you have upgraded by now. Just because a bunch of entitled people claim that "most people should have upgraded by now, oh last gen is a waste of resources" doesn't make it true.

I feel like at this point, who cares about the last gen versions? I know other people in other countries may want it since Brazil has the PS4 for a super high price. In America, I doubt anyone really cares. I think it's time for a lot of people moving on the next gen consoles since they have been out for over a year now. I don't like cross-gen games since people believe that they could hurt sales of next gen consoles since people will be like "Why bother when it's on the PS3 as well". We rarely had this issue during the PS1/N64 era, PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era and PS3/360/Wii era (That era was hardly a long time ago). I don't think the economy has anything to do with it since the PS3 and 360 came out during the downfall of economy. Not to mention the PS3 was $500 and $600 when they first came out and they where pricey even back then.
