Problems with MKAK...

They should have hired the dude who made MAME he would have done a better job than anyone at NRS. Shame on you NRS you cant even port a very old game within a month.

Or back to MAME or your actual arcade cabinet if you want to play the classics. ;) BTW I don't think audio improvements like rerecorded sound effects or remastered music in stereo is such a bad thing or bugs\glitches however it IS diferent than the arcade and if they don't play the correct sound effects at all times then yeah those particular things (incorrect sound or sounds not playing) are bugs\glitches. I hate how some ports in the past play incorrect music on the stages like even MKT had this problem. Despite how much it may have been liked MKT was also buggy and incomplete. Par for the course for ports I guess... and here I thought this colllection was going to be straight up emulation like MAME.

Yea but NRS said they tested it and Boon said its "Arcade Perfect" himself!
Yeah read what I said earlier.. http://www.trmk.org/forums/showthread.php/24978-Problems-with-MKAK...?p=422713&viewfull=1#post422713 sometimes you just have to take what Ed Boon says with a grain of salt. He's claimed arcade perfection before or even more grandiose claims like "better than the arcade" and it was not true for starters. I've been following what he has said since the beginning and I learned this quickly.

It's completely unacceptable.

I don't really know tech stuff that well, but I do remember that with earlier versions of MAME, there were certain sounds and speech that the software just couldn't emulate. So you could download these sounds in .wav format, put them in a special folder, and MAME would play them instead of the emulated sounds (maybe MAME still works this way, I don't know, I haven't messed with it in a while).

So I understand certain sounds maybe are difficult to emulate. If that's the case, just freaking record the sounds from an arcade machine and instruct the game to use those sound files instead of the emulated ones. IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!!!!

Nope, MAME doesn't work that way any more. Today's MAME has high accuracy and larger system requirements to go with it for the MK Games but since hardware has also advanced since way back when it needed external sounds it doesn't matter. Maybe they don't have all the advances MAME has made over the past decade although on the other hand they have apparently replaced some of the music with stereo versions and also some of the sounds with higher quality versions so they could have made it so all the sounds play. There's no excuse really other than lazy programming at other ocean and lousy QA at NRS.

does anyone else not realise ed boons job is to sell products, he would be out of a job if he said this isnt very good in some areas, no one would buy it

I noticed some music audio issues with this release....the endurance match before Goro in MK1, the "Goro's Lair" music begins to play at the beginning of the match, then about 5 seconds into it, it stops completely. UMK3, some of the screams are cut short.

Anyone else notice these issues?? Just curious...

Yep, I got the Goro's Lair music bug. I wasn't sure if it was that way before, so I came here to ask about it.

There's also issues with the colors. Looks like I'm playing a Super NES game. They just aren't as rich as they are in the actual arcade versions, and appear really grainy.

maybe its been a while since I played mk trilogy or umk3 at the arcade, but some moves wont even execute against shao kahn (sindel's scream), and I cant do a cross-over kick into sai release with Mileena (the sai release part just doesnt execute at all). Also a lot of freezing fo my ps3. This is just arcade umk3.

The online lag is just god awful. NO kombat kode ability.

Also the lag on arcade after you unpause it and the gameplay. If you pause it to do check a fatality move (sorry i didnt memorize these all for 15 years lol), then unpause it your charachter just stands there for 2 seconds basically eating up the fatality time.

Yea but NRS said they tested it and Boon said its "Arcade Perfect" himself! Well this ENTIRE ARCADE KOLLECTION is crap! If they dont fix these audio issues AND these issues (http://diehardgamefan.com/2011/08/30/10-thoughts-on-mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-sony-ps3/), then I will NEVER AGAIN BUY ANY Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, no matter how good they say it is! Well... unless they include MK4 in it... hehhe, I love MK4 (but then again, it will probably be glitch as fu*k!) So sad right now! If this were a disc based game, I would break this damn game in half! I swear! Okay... im done now..

bye
I agree.. yes its very disapointing with all the audio sounds, online lagging, glitches. They need to fix these issues because when they say an Arcade perfect version of the games thats what it should be...right now I even feel like they did better on MK1 MK2 and MK3 released back in 2006 Midways Treasures Vol.3 released on the PS2...I am also very Disapointed the fact that MK4 was not included in there as it was also one of my favorite games and should have been included but for now they need to fix these glitchy, online lagging, sound problems or im gonna want my money back. No questions asked

You do realize that A. the consoles were nothing like the arcade and B. the arcade was designed to get people to spend quarters?

My point in bringing up the console versions was that they not only play better, but look and sound better too. It's sad to see that a SNES port > than a supposedly direct port of the arcade on PS3.

Oh and whats up with the lack of the full screen why arnt any of these games full screen?

I knew it was a cheap way of milking gamers and MK fans cash. Cause if they obviously put some work in it, even a slight amount of work then they would have fixed all these glitches, tested the online and made necessary changes and finally they would make it in HD as it is not so hard to do that. I think it is a good thing the pc release is delayed because now we know it is garbage and we can stick with the MAME version.

Other Ocean's (the developer who did the Kollection for NRS) website is here:

http://www.otherocean.com/

If you can do so politely, without making us all look like raging idiots lol, i suggest emailing their 'Contact us' address about these issues. Or maybe we need to email NRS about it. All i know is that we shouldn't settle for a mediocre Arcade Collection.

pretty sad but true..kinda makes me want to bring out my SNES from my garage and pop in MK2 instead i had that thing for 17 years now in perfect working condition.. kinda sad that PS2 was able to come out better for MK2 and MK3 on the Midway Treasures Vol.3 then the PS3 from a direct Arcade port :(

Even the standalone MK2 thats still available on PSN was able to be made full screen. I dont even understand how any of these three games in the Kollection are only able to be played with borders when its been shown (with the other PSN MK2) that it can be played full screen. Just seems like the time wasn't taken that was needed.

You guys would rather illegally play a game then deal with a few changes on a digital download? I can't stand this crap anymore. All everybody does nowadays is complain. Suck it up for a change and enjoy what we got. If online is that bad play with friends offline like I do. At least the UMK3 characters get saved to the hard drive.
