bin Laden was the leader and the face of Islamic terrorism, but his death doesn't at all mean we've beaten them.

This is stupid, they killed the most wanted man in the world but debate on whether to release pictures to prove it and expect us to just sit here and swallow Obama just walking out and saying 'we killed him'? It should have been one of the first things they did. Now, it just looks like they are buying time.
Hope the pics they release are real and not some lame photoshop or some random Bin Laden look a like.

Although all of us who like to see some pics for us to actually believe he is dead, we must also realise this is a sensitive issue for the US Govt as well. Once the pics are released it will be available to the Al-Qaeda and their allies and supporters all around the world as well and seeing their leader killed in that manner may serve as a catalyst in their efforts to retaliate and thus threatening the security of Americans all around the world.

LOL! Watch footage of all the news stations that were showing the towers at the time of the hits synchronized and one building has an explosion before the plane even hits on the rest of the footage! Plus a lot of the videos look like terrible editing. I hate the sheep in this country. All most of you do is believe what the television feeds to you. But whatever. Im wrong like always

What difference would it make, really? Either way, their are a lot of pissed off terrorists out there vowing revenge as we speak. I doubt it would be any different with the release of pictures. They know he is dead (again, assuming this is all true), they know how he died, I don't think pictures will make a big difference. There are cells all over the world....and all of them are planning something big, regardless of pics or not.

But...
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for death penalty (State Sponsored Fatalities), but in some cases, capital punishment is simply not the solution...
I'd rather see Bin Laden die and rot by natural causes, (since this is the best way to portray him as the piece of shit that he really is), than having him killed and ultimately propelling him to Martyr status.

So yeah... Obama gets credit for this to help him out.. he needed it bad. This is not real, just like the man they call Osama bin Laden. I will never believe he is real and this just furthers my belief that the person just doesn't exist. Created. Thin air.
Killed to begin the push to reelect Obama. A simple stunt. What's next? He pulls troops in six months. After that? Reelected...
Does it matter? Nope. They could put a ****ing monkey in office and the same outcomes would happen. The President is just a symbol for the American people to throw their twinkies and beer cans at. He's no where at all in charge of making any decisions he catches the blame on.
The real dirties arent any where you or I can see.

TOTALLY agree and this would have been way better if they took him in alive.
I have heard the theories that he has been dead for some time now. Wouldn't rule that out, either. I think he had liver or kidney problems since around 1998 so there are theories that he had already died from that.
Also, I had to explain this to my husband....he is Vietnamese, I am American, and he doesn't quite get the way Americans think....we HAVE to be #1 at everything. There is no way we would allow Pakistan to come in and help us blow away a guy like Osama. We use Pakistani officials to get to where we need to go and then we move in and put OUR bullets into Osama. We HAVE to be the ones to do it and show the world we are the most powerful country. We can't let anyone else take the credit. It's all about us.

Aside from conspiracy theories, I have no doubts that people were really killed in that house in Pakistan... As for Osama, I have serious doubts:
1- He was probably already dead.
2- Maybe some security guard killed Osama, and not USA.
If one or another is true, what's the point of getting TV time by telling the whole world: USA KILLED OSAMA!!
This is a sure recipe for more serious shit coming... If I was the ambassador of US in Pakistan, I would be retiring right now...
Not to mention cells of Al-Qaeda Blue Eyed American Citizens still in US soil and some psychopats.
There's simply no right way to fight terrorism... Sadly...

If they took the time to bury him at sea according to Muslim customs of the body being buried within 24 hours (buy that or not if you want), to avoid Muslim outcry, why would they then post a picture of his deceased body on nightly news?
Jade what you said is true, the extremists are going to be plotting revenge picture or not....but the risk of creating even more extremists out of moderate Muslims that may be on the fence about the U.S. is a serious risk to consider.
Something like that image could galvanize millions of Muslims on the moderate/extreme fence to go over to the extremist side and do nothing but increase their ranks.
I think they've tried to handle this in a way that says "Look, we had to get this guy for what he's done around the world the last 10 years, but we don't want to offend your people and your customs."
I think it's about the best damage control you can do honestly.
Also about the people with the conspiracy theories out there....I thought about this today because I've watched the 9/11 truth videos and I think there's some merit to consider....but you can't live your whole life on nothing but conspiracy theories believing L. Johnson had Kennedy killed, there was a 2nd gunman, we never went to the moon, 9/11 was an inside job, Tupac was never shot, Elvis is still alive, and Osama was never killed because we haven't seen the body. I mean you can't live your whole life making conspiracy theories out of EVERYTHING. You've got to take some things at face value as being true. Are there likely real conspiracy theories out there? Sure, I believe some are legitimate. But this one....I mean even the Pakistani gov't and Hamas, both of which likely had ties to him, both claimed that he's deceased. If the Muslims wanted to make a conspiracy out of this, they would come out with a claim that he's still alive. Everything points to him being taken out this weekend, and I think you've got to take this one as being true and not a conspiracy.

Depending on how this is spun, he might not be a martyr at all. Again, they really need to push the fact that Osama was kicking it in a mansion while all his boys were crouching in caves while bombs exploded overhead. His propaganda videos promised them he was suffering right along with them, bravely fighting on even as his kidneys gave out. His crumbling body no match for his fierce warrior spirit, he was a symbol to all Al Qaeda members, and certain members of this board, to the inherent justness of their cause and the inevitability of their victory. It was all a show to con his followers (and again, certain members of this board it seems) into keeping the faith, because he was suffering right alongside them in their struggle against us evil Americans. What Obama needs to do now is tear down that image and reveal Osama for the slimy hypocrite he was. It won't destroy Osama's legacy completely, many are to blinded by insanity to accept the truth even when evidence is presented to them but for many this will shake their faith in the man who for them was the embodiment of their cause.
Also, if the reports are to be believed he was given a burial at sea in accordance to certain Muslim traditions and he wasn't just tossed into the sea. There are Muslims in the navy, so that's not as far fetched as many are likely to claim. If this is true, if they can prove it then that might piss off the hardcore Jihadists (and, again, certain members of this board) to no end. If this is true than the respectful manner of burial would be the final insult to Bin Laden and his ilk, giving him a Islamic burial is pure anathema to his attempts to create a clash of civilizations. America has deprived him of his final vindication by not sinking to his level and mutilating the corpse. A nice little bonus is that there's no grave for his followers to turn into a shrine or place of pilgrimage.

When I found this out, I couldn't help but think of former Palestinian leader Arafat. A lot of similarities IMO from what I've read about how they both lived. So many of these extremist/communist leaders don't practice what they preach.

Anyways i'm kinda like whatever if they show his body or not in a way it would prove that he is dead, but then again "some" people wouldn't believe it. Then the'll go make all these conspiracy theories about it and little youtube videos claiming he's alive.
