Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

Chun-Li hardly shows so skin and she's fighting game female #1

Exactly. The point is female characters don't need to be sexualized in order to gain success.

I don't have a problem with a female characters being sexy. The problems lies when it's done distastefully. It feels cheap. Who are they catering to?

Random but all-of-a-sudden interest;
Do y'all think that Skarlet might make the official roster, or do you think she'll be snubbed?

I doubt she'll make the cut. Honestly I'll be surprised if we ever see her again. It seems like they brought her in as a nod to an old MK2 rumor and that's it. Her popularity wasn't all that huge and a lot of people didn't care much for how she played.

That being said, I would love to see her come back in a future game. I enjoyed her backstory and concept. I never play as her due to not being able to get a good feel for the gameplay, but she was a fun character.

I would rather they give a character slot to someone with relevance and intrigue. Didn't hate Skarlet, but she didn't make an impact on me on any level. I guess they could make her more interesting storywise this time around.

Tanya, Li Mei and Ashrah are my top three females I want in. I would like to see any of the other girls from MK2011 too.

The problem with Skarlet is that she wasn't given a chance to shine in MK9. Which is unfortunate cause she has a lot of potential. It seemed like she was an after thought near the end of the game's development, they ran out of time to finish her and then released her as DLC due to all the chatter within the fan base. Or maybe they already knew they were releasing her. Either way, she doesn't feel complete to me. Her gameplay is very rough and she just barely fits into the events of MK9.

That alone tells me "Don't expect much more out of her."

Ed Boon recently said on Twitter that Skarlet's chances of returning are "Slim to Shady"
He said the same thing about Rain's return.

Given Skarlet's beef with Quan Chi, I'd still have some hope she'd be joining.

Plus, whoever mentioned that Chun Li doesn't show skin... those skin-colored tights she wore showing off them thick, muscular legs... when I was 6-7 going to the arcades I played SF solely for that reason. Then I moved on to MK, the girls were sluttier.

It always seemed weird to me how Ed Boon teased Skarlet's boot in September (we didn't know who the boot belonged to by the time) and promised to reveal her if Shao Kahn won a competition of evil characters on Gamespot, but then Shao Kahn lost and we got no info on who the character was until several months after. I mean, had Shao Kahn won, Skarlet would have been revealed maybe in October or November, around 5 months before the game's release, which would have be odd seeing how she was a DLC character and not in the main game.

As for her story, it seemed to me like it closed in Mortal Kombat (2011), but they can always find a way to bring her back and integrate her into the story.

Ever since I saw her in the previous MK, I thought maybe it's a chance for her to make the main cut in this Mortal Kombat.
I know chances are slim but she could branch off into being one of the main female ninjas if she were to make the cut.

She couldn't have really made much of an impact whatsoever, but she can if they actually gave her some story plots and lines and a full-proof bio, unlike MK'11.
I'm with you on the 'Tanya' bit. I have been so anxious to see her in more than any other character. Lol.

I'm just pointing something out,
After these events from MK'11 happened, I'm thinking she'd have just as good a chance as any to be into the next game as a full fledged character..Though obviously that won't happen. I'm just thinking out loud. The changes made in this time around caused new characters like D'vorah and Ferra'Tor to appear, I think it'd be pretty reasonable to have Skarlet come in with some new bio and cause.

Then again her reception was never the best among fans.

Which means Mileena is out of character...

I'm fine with her costume decision by Kittlesen, because it also means that Sonya has a chance of not looking so sleazy / scantily clad as well, and fitting the military persona better.
I'll take the bad with the good.

What does her being DLC have to do with anything?

Goro is pre-order DLC for MKX, and he was revealed months ahead of time.

What would Scarlet even do if she came back? She was used just as a weapon with no personality, no emotions, nothing. I thought she was an okay character, but she hardly left an impression.

Not to mention, she kinda had an annoying voice.

Sonya and Skarlet are the characters that are the hardest in MK9 to master, and I really need one of them in because technical female characters be the SH!T!

As stated previously,
She had no part in MK'11, but she could be given a part if the choice were brought up.
She could be a main to a pretty badass story if it was given some thought.

Of course the writers could always give her a completely new story since she really have anything other than some random cameo in the story (If I remember completely, she makes one or two background appearances). But what is there to do with her if she is to return for X. What would her reason to be in this game if she were. And to be honest, I could see her in this game because she did have some dark qualities with her... despite her costume was horrible. (To be honest, I felt that her outfit, even her alternate in the vita version, was as horrible as Kitana's secondary)

The story should be much better than having her be an emotionless, personality-less weapon that will only be under command from Shao Kahn. To be honest, I was really, really disappointed that they made her be associated with Kahn, like we need ANOTHER character work coincide with him. I am just really confused as to what could be a possibility for her to be in future games since Kahn is dead... or at least assumed to be dead.

Maybe she's freed from whatever spell kahn had on her.
Remember in the background of the beginning of MK'11 story, she was apparently part of the tournament.
She has so many loopholes we could turn into something bigger, but it's pretty obvious that NRS is gonna pretty much ignore her from now on.
