Official "We love Mortal Kombat 2011" Thread

Haha, maybe we should start one :P

Dang really? Well yeah you did man, but you've been missing out. What console do you own?
none so far..............but im still going to pre order it in anticpation of getting an xbox 360, i heard the first 3 are classics so i might try to get them if i can but im just happy with this game atm esp since its ment to be dedicated to the original 3 games

as much as i b!tch like a little girl about what could be better theres equally a lot about this game i like so far, i fking love the idea of a new mortal kombat thats a throwback to when it was in its prime!!

I love the levels, every level looks mind blowing! so much attention to detail and so much fantasy, theres even dragons in the background on the graveyard! did you see that shit!?
Kano looks badass! sector and cyrax look bang on!!
co-op mode and online is guna be off the hook nuts!
the enhancors and breakers and xrays are great features,
the blood and gore is good, 2D fighting plain is back
alt costumes = life saver!

Raiden!!!!!!!!!

last console i owned was a megadrive!, im oldschool and dont care for modern games but this is frikin Mortaal Kombaat aii!, so now i gotta go out and buy a PS3 or Xbox, buy the game, and a T.V to play it on, thats dedication :) and this is the only game i will buy and play so this better be good coz im investing a lot of hard earned pennies into this one game!

YEAAAAHBAGGGAYEEEAAAAH!! all that sh!t son!!!

The design of the stages & characters! They are flawless and true to the MK spirit. Gameplaywise, I need to play it first before posting any judgement. I can't wait to check the graphics on my 46" Full HD TV!

Amen bro. I've never been this excited for a game. Not even for Metal Gear Solid, which happen to be my favorite games/series.

Metal Gear Solid is my 2nd favorite game series behind Mortal Kombat, but I've NEVER been as excited for a Metal Gear Solid game as I am for Mortal Kombat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, but I'm not half as excited for that game as I am for MK 9. :-D

That's cool haha. I've always been a HUGE MGS fan. I even have my MGS4 and MGS:PW autographed by Kojima himself. I shook his hand and everything! It was an awesome experience. Rising looks OK, but I don't know how I'll react after playing Raiden only (I'm use to Solid Snake or Big Boss).

Ah! That's interesting sir. What drew you to this title?
honestly i was looking up MVC3 alot and then people started talking about MK alot so i thought i would look it up, as soon as i saw one of the X-Ray moves i was hooked, then i started looking up the characters and the first character i looked up was a cyborg ninja(Cyrax).........nothing beats a cyborg ninja :P

also the thing that made me even more excited for the game is the fact that it is ment to be a throw back to the first 3 which i heard are amazing games plus usually when a video game series(or an band when it comes to albums) tries to go back to its roots then its mostly makes for a very good game/album

Well we're glad you're a part of this MK fan family :)

...well to everybody's surprise i have almost NO complains abot new MK game so far...non gameplay, non design wise...my only small complain (but its just small minor thing...) is Reptile's design and lack of Sheeva's confirmation for the game, since well...you know why LOL...anyway this game is great in all aspects...i especially like stages! the stages in MK 9 in all their glory! i never was excited about arena's i'm fighting on in any fighting game, until now! believe me...i think the main trick about it is its atmosphere, which comes from realistic environment and great graphics and animations all put together, which delievers authentic, but the same time esoteric mood, which keeps my blood boiling in my veins!

thank you both DCP and rocky im suprised i never really noticed the series beforehand im a massive noob fan by the looks of things i tend to go for evil characters but looks like cyrax will be in my top 3 characters its amazing how much of a back story the series has, extremely confusing to suddenly get into after 9 games:)

i hope my theory with the bands is right it just seems like if a band release more than 2 not very good albums in a row then they will release an amazing one to make up for it, and i heard that the most recent MK games were not exacly amazing so i hope its a similar thing

Haha I bet everything is super confusing. Number one thing in MK lore, no one dies and stays dead haha. Everyone somehow ends up coming back to life. As for the characters, you will get a feel for them once you play. Just find someone you like/fits your style and stick with him/her. it's true the last couple of MKs haven't exactly been the best, they weren't "OH MY GOD" horrible, just nothing like the old games. I'm willing to bet this one will more than make up for it. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

lol thanks, i have learnt a bit thanks to wikia sites, to me it doesnt matter what the character is like in terms of personality, if they are evil or not but usually i am more drawn to evil characters but i'll wont pre judge because then i could miss out on some amazing characters, i know what you mean they were good but not up the the first 3 standards, lol are you really a doctor? , i dont like blood so i wouldnt ever be a doctor XD (love video game blood though) and sometimes you can just feel when something is going to be amazing and i have that feeling with MK 9

I feel you bro, it's better not to try and stick to one character right now since everything is still pretty new to you. And no, no way near the first ones man. MK is meant to be 2D, thu kinda messed it up trying to go for the Tekken feel. Hahaha, hell no I am not a doctor bro, I will faint if I see large amounts of real blood anywhere near me. I faint every single time I get a blood test hahaha.

lol not exacly related to the game but once i went to the doctors to get a blood test and at first they didnt take enough blood, the second time they lost my sample and finally the 3rd time they got it right:twisted: would it be best to play arcade/story mode with all the characters to get used to them or would some kinda verse mode be a better idea?(if this game has a verse CPU mode) lol i looked at your age and didnt think you were a doctor but you never know i've heard of some very smart people(freakishly smart) who could get through medical school by 18

i love the entire look of the game apart from some stages seem a bit dark(maybe i will get used to them) but that is another reason why i got into the game it just looks amazing by the looks of things so far the characters who look the most interesting to me are sub zero(also he seems to be a fan favourite which usually means he is a good character), sektor, branka, shao kahn, and quan chi if he is playable in the game(or even in the game).

sorry i can go on about this game forever:) the last fighting game i played was super smash brothers melee so its not often that i play fighters and i obsess over games way too much when i want a game:) so what is your history with the game series? sorry if im going off topic then just say so and i wont post in this thread anymore

No man don't worry about it, we're having a great conversation. I really don't care if we stray off like this. Well that would be the best idea, playing against the CPU in regular arcade mode, but what's cool about this one is they have a training mode where you can practice everything, including fatalities. That might be a better idea, but it's really up to you. Haha, I'm pretty smart, but I'm no doctor :P

Yeah the stages you see are a tribute to the ones in the past. The memorable stages that took part in making this game great. Along with the unique and interesting characters. I think you'd like Scorpion as well. No worries, I can as well. I'm pretty passionate when it comes to gaming. Dang SSBM? That was a while ago, haha. Use to play that for hours with my bestfriend.

Well I started playing MK when I was 3. I got a Sega Genesis as my first system, and Mortal Kombat II was my first game ever. From there I fell in love with Mortal Kombat and video games in general. I followed the series all the way till present day. My favorites would have to be UMK3, MKII, and MK Trilogy. Also check out this site, it has a lot of interesting information, and lots of stuff to look at. http://www.mortalkombatwarehouse.com/ you can catch up on the story if you want. Just go to the site and look to your right where it says "Choose your Destiny" The games are in chronological order.

@newbie1556 I recommend starting with Story mode, good way to familiarize yourself with the cast, the lore, and you'll get to play as all different characters too; that way you can find out who you're more comfortable with, and jump into Arcade or Vs mode with them afterwards. Gradually experiment with the whole roster as you progress. There's also a Training mode apparently, so that could help you get a better grasp of the gameplay. The important thing is to just have fun when you get into the game, no point taking it too seriously and studying it right away. You'll find yourself doing that anyway as you play more and more.
As for the darkness of the stages, I think many, if not all of them, will have a daytime version. Which I'm really happy about actually.
