Official NFL Thread

Trash, if your stated age is correct, you weren't alive in 1981. Your claims of The Catch ruining your childhood are invalid.

And I think this trend you reference is coming to an end... I don't see any of those teams winning the Super Bowl next year.

Dammit, LC! You always have to ruin my trolling! Yes, the age shown is correct. The Catch did happen 21 months before I was born, but nonetheless, it STILL hurt me...especially coming from a family of Cowboys fans! I continue to stand by my hatred of the 49ers! They're on the same shit list as the Eagles, Redskins, Giants, Red Sox, and Lakers as far as I'm concerned!

I used to be a huge frank gore fan...then he made a public statement about being the better team after losing the superbowl AND last yr on thanksgiving. Hope the niners are 6-10 next year.

Either Frank Gore is wrong, or Bill Parcells must be a liar. You are what your record says you are, and that is FINAL!

RIP Pat Summerall...the greatest play-by-play broadcaster in ALL of sports.. :(

What a clown.

It was more of a general comment, not so much posted at you directly, just using your post as well because you aren't the only one to bring up that picture, lol. I just personally think it's stupid when the media tries to bring things up from a long time ago. K, so he was stupid and posted a douchebaggy pic with a gun....a lot of teenagers do things like that, lol. They are trying to use it to say he definitely did it because he posted a pic with a gun 4 years ago.

Not saying he didn't do anything, I really do believe he had something to do with it, just saying, stuff like that doesn't always mean 'yes, they did it'. I am sure everyone has done something stupid when they were younger, doesn't mean you would be an idiot now, lol.

I hate when people try to use the past transgressions against players, especially even though they admit, but they past that and finally done with. But those damn governments and law enforcements try to find ways to bring people down for no other reason other than money. Geez!!!

Anyways, a little more than 2 months before the season begins. Are you ready for some football??

Are you ready for some football??

I've been ready for some football since the Super Bowl ended.
I was lucky enough to have the Heat in the playoffs and Finals, so this year (and last year ;)) I at least had basketball to hold me off until football season.
That being said, I'm a die-hard Dolphins fan, but I have no hopes of seeing them go to a Super Bowl until we get rid of Jeff Ireland and some of that front office.
I'm looking to get a Ray Finkle jersey, because I really don't have anyone on the team worth getting a current jersey for.

Gonna have to start busting out the Romo avatar again come August.

See you all in the finals, with Romo as king.

:)

I can't wait for the season to start so all the talk about players getting arrested during the offseason goes away. I got a good feeling about my Rams this year too. As long as Bradford plays consistent, I think we can get a playoff spot this year. Sure the Seahawks and 49ers are in our division, but we've proven that we can play against those teams.

Any chance of another TRMK FF this year btw?

As long as the Love Cowboy lives, so will the fantasy league. I was planning on launching it in a couple weeks.

That said, as slow as the site is these days, I will probably have to once again recruit players that aren't on this site too in order to fill it up. I don't want to just reduce the number of teams because I think 12 gives the perfect competitive balance.

If I may make a suggestion about the fantasy league...

Is there any way you can 86 the loser's brackets? I am philosophically opposed to them. As Lombardi once said, there is no second place; you're either first or you're last.

I'll look into it... but I don't think that option exists.

Besides, how will we determine who finishes dead last and gets awarded the Station2 Memorial Golden Ass Helmet?

Who anyone got for next SuperBowl
My pick Houston vs San Fran, Seattle, Saints, Falcons or Green Bay
Broncos maybe but Peyton Manning is not good in playoffs, wander if he gets paid to lose

Peyton goddamn Manning has been to two Super Bowls, and won one. How is he not good in the playoffs? It's John Fox's fault for making Peyton take a knee with 30 seconds left in the 4th Quarter against the Ravens. If you have Peyton Manning as your Quarterback, and 30 seconds on the clock, it is still a very winnable game. One of the worst Playoff game calls ever.

For Super Bowl picks, I'll break it down by conference:

AFC:
Texans
Broncos
Bengals
Patriots
Ravens (Wild Card)
Dolphins (Wild Card, though they could very well take their Division)

NFC:
49ers
Redskins
Packers
Saints
Falcons (Wild Card)
Seahawks (Wild Card)

For the big game? I'll go with the Broncos and either the 49ers or Seahawks. If Rob Ryan's defense is solid enough, I think the Saints have a strong chance of getting back to the big game, especially with Sean by-gawd Peyton back.

The only thing I want more than the Saints in the Super Bowl is for Drew Brees to retain his consecutive touchdown record. Tom Brady is getting closer and closer to tying and/or beating it, but I'm not sure how the Patriots' season will go. The Dolphins are looking better and better with each passing arrest, release, trade, etc. from the Patriots. I could live with the Saints not going all the way if Brees keeps his record.

The NFC South should be a lot more competitive this season. I have high hopes for Rob Ryan, and was elated when the Saints got him. I can't think of anyone who better fits the Saints' needs at defense than Rob Ryan, other than maybe Lovie Smith. Hoping the Saints stomp those dirty Falcons into the ground.

Let's just see about that Kurt. Atlanta is slowly going into the Super Bowl. I believe this is our year, since we were so close last season, but lost to the 49ers because either way, the Falcons got teared apart slowly. It was just picking our poison on how to lose last year in the NFC championship. Bring it Saints!!!

On a sad note, though, I found out during the DAL/MIA game that Colts Hall of Famer Art Donovan passed away...I hear he was the first Colt ever enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
