Official Anime Discussion

The only type of anime I won't watch still are ecchi, harem, slice of life and magical girl anime (and hentai/yaoi/yuri/Genocyber-type anime obviously)

A year ago, all I cared about was old Toonami and Adult Swim anime :?

some animes have those types but are fine.

Golden boy is Ecchi, slice of life, and harem, and you like Golden boy lol..

it's a compelling story, and interesting cast of characters that make an anime good.

look I'm a bit of a hypocrit and avoid mecha/robot animes. but I watched gurren lagann, and Code Geass and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I understand where you get your thoughts from though as there are alot of ecchi/harem types are extremely shallow. and they tend to always follow a similar path to eachother.

@Critical- Ehhh I wouldn't really consider Tenchi an ecchi (Ryoko and Tenchi's dad and granddad have some perverted moments here and there but what anime doesn't have those lol)

But yeah, I'll probably warm up to ecchi some time in the future considering I like high school anime of all animes now

I never thought of Golden Boy as a harem though lol

I mean yeah, 6 girls all fall for him throughout the anime, but still...

more than 6 in the manga lol.

But I know what you mean.

what you mean is in golden boy it's only 1 girl per episode.

In a typical harem anime, it's like 6 girls constantly going after one guy and competing for him. often in the same episode.

I'm just trollin ya, just a little.

It just has to be a good anime with interesting characters. genre can help eliminate certain type of atmospheric animes. like I hate super duper serious military anime. That's why I avoid mecha/robot.

but Ghost in the shell is super serious lol. and military like.

yet I like that anime.

I think that's why I can watch more anime than most people in here, because I'm extremely open to them. Even to mecha/robot although I need some convincing I don't naturally just click them.

Ahh I never read the manga so I wouldn't know

I'm trying to become a lot more open to watching anime as you can see, it's just that it's so much anime out there that I haven't seen that I just kinda have to keep my guard up, you know?

I think the type of anime that appeals to me most is like fantasy/adventure-type anime and also anime with older protagonists

I watched a few episodes of Soul Eater. It's better than what I expected, but I'm still cautious about it.

I read some of the Claymore manga. Nice art, but something about tells me I should not read further. I read Teppuu via scanslation (I'm considering physical copy, but I don't know where to look for a reasonable price), but the series seems to be put on indefinite hiatus.

See I think the focus of Claymore was on the wrong story.

I dunno if you've gotten to Teresa yet. but I wish the story was focused around her. She, to me is a much more like-able character than claire.

It slowly becomes, DBZ'ish after a while, Just in a different way. Just a heads up.

Also Claymore manga is really slow moving.

Soul Eater is good. I am a anti-bleach/dbz/one piece/bleach/naruto type person. And if you dislike those for the same reason I do. (Mainly because of recycle and cheap budget for many episodes/fillers)

I don't feel Soul eater falls in that category. yet lol.

Speaking of Soul Eater, my lazy behind has only watched like 3 episodes so far (it's been months since I watched it), definitely going to start back up this weekend

Good lord that anime list. I liked Soul Eater, it had a different tune to the high school genre I was watching.

I need to watch more Monster over the break
