Mortal Kombat HD

its like the people look from back in the games like mk 2 and mk 3 but the graphics are like half hd, i dont like it!! (my opinion)

And that's the way like a real MKHD must be done.
Stop beign lazy and release this HD remake, everyone is waiting for it and these guys are not givin to us.

I think MKDA is where the franchise "changed." Not MK4/Gold.
I hate to think of things in terms of "went downhill." I think things certainly change, from time to time. If you look at MK, there is no game that is similar to the other. Not even MK2 is similar to MK1.

But for me, I would be satisfied with UMK3 and MK Gold only on the HD package. I don't really want to play MK1 and MK2. I'm really surprised after all the articles about an HD kollection NRS didn't think about MK4/Gold. It would have completed a nice little package for them that you could play on PC.

It all depends on what MKs we played in our best times. You started with UMK3 and continued with MK4-MK Gold, right? Mostly. I think too, MK changed since MKDA, not MK4. And I would be glad to see MK4 as HD, but not so much. Most of all I wanted HD MK1 and MK2! They were the best ever! UMK3 is cool too, but MK1-2 mean much much more.
As for MK4-Gold, don't worry, do you remember where MK9 story mode ended?;) The next will be MK10 = altered MK4, or MK4 + MKDA, something like this.

I'm sorry, but if I'm missing information please let me know. Reading thoroughly pays off, and mean based strictly on what Montenegro wrote there in his paragraph it doesnt appear that this game is scrapped. Like I said, if anyone knows something i dont, please fill me in, but starting from the second sentence in the second paragraph (first full paragraph) i will quote:

"They are a great loss for me in the sense that none of the following screens (save for the Friendly Kombat screen) will be seen in the actual DLC game itself. The scope of our project was changed and thus the demand and need for the UI did as well."

1. the scope of the project (hd kollection) was changed. the demand and need for a new user interface was a must in order to comply with the new expectations that need to be met for the game. the scope was broadened maybe? instead of just a ps3 release its now gonna be a 360 release as well? whatever the case, the scope of a project doesnt change if the whole thing is scrapped. The UI doesnt need to change if you dont plan on using it anyway because the whole project was scrapped.

2. none of those screens will be seen in the actual dlc game itself except for the friendly kombat screen. so it appears that the actual game will be dlc, not retail. (see above for "scope of project has changed"). And oh yeah, lets just keep the friendly kombat screen because we may be able to use it, even though we scrapped the whole project.

Final paragraph:

"Some of it was upres work but I did get to redesign new screens and some brand spanking new UI elements based off the feedback of NetherRealm,WB and some initial style mockups sent in pre-production."

1. he recieved feedback from the powers that be who are in charge of the whole game( wb, nrs) along with some style mockups they sent him. he designed new screens, and new user interface elements based on what they told him. they just didnt mention to him that they scrapped the whole game. it wont be coming out and your services are no longer needed. just design us some new ui elements for this game just for fun.

the point im making guys is this:

and this is only for those who are posting negative threads that the game will never see the light of day. cant we put 2 and 2 together?
obviously Montenegro is sad that the original work he did will not be used in the game. since this is the case, he becomes the sole owner of it and is free to post it up and show everyone his work, obviously hes proud of it and wants it to be seen. double purpose served here because in addition to getting some recognition for his work, we get to see proof that this game was indeed real not a rumor. the situation is basically this. "Hey john you did a great job on this ui, but we've drastically changed some things for the game and we wont be able to use them except maybe that friendly kombat screen. however, herse some feedback of what we think you should change around and make different. we want you to design some new ui elements for us thats more inline with this etc."

this is basically what i got out of READING and making assumptions and estimated guesses based off of what ive read. this clearly doesnt sound like a scrapped project. if montenegro is not responding to your emails crashing his inbox, maybe its because he likes his job and there really is a game being worked on. if anyone has info that totally disporves this theory, than fill me in because i need it. i guess then i deserve to be bashed to death for posting this. and then ill beat myself for this wall o text.

heres the origin link if you guys want to see for yourselves, or you missed it on the first page.

When he says the "scope of our project was changed," he's referring to it going from a totally remade game to simply a collection of arcade ports. The screens he shows are of the HD Kollection, complete with updated graphics, backgrounds and new actors. If you've seen footage of the "Arcade Kollection", you'll see that the basic UI has been kept intact, but just used around the ports instead of a totally new game.

Edit: Here's a link to the Arcade Kollection video I was referring to (CLICK HERE). As you can see, the UI (user interface) looks identical to that of the HD Kollection screens Mr. Montenegro posted.

No? I played since MK1....MK2 is my favorite MK.
But yes, I'm glad about your MK10 comment. I'm hoping for it.

@brucewayne there's only one thing you and anyone else who thinks a HD remake is still coming needs to realize - NR aren't going to be releasing something like that, they tried and failed and decided to release arcade ports instead.

I'm sure they did their best to make it happen, but it just didn't work out. I had doubts from the beginning that it would, because it'd be a seriously hard job to pull off. I don't see it coming out ever, might as well just accept it. And that's really not as bad as it sounds. We still have those original games, that look and play exactly as we remember. The visual update wouldn't have been perfect, and the gameplay definitely wouldn't have been perfect. Montenegro's screenshots are attractive, but obsessing over them is a lost cause. Best to forget this project and just enjoy the classics as they are.

It'll be great to have the arcade-perfect ports on our consoles in one collection, and that should be enough for any old school fan to look forward to.

If you look attentively, the chomped half-Jax is not new, just blury resized one.

And really, guys, i can't believe that "they tried all they could do, but this just didn't work out"! Don't forget who they are, look at MK9 - these dudes create just FANTASTIC things! They would do it if they wanted, and they cancelled it because they changed their minds. In which direction? Who knows. I also can't believe that they just thought: "Oh, MK HD doesn't worth, no one will buy it..." cause they know HOW MANY of us want it. There was another reason.
Which ones? Who knows.
I can suppose this: with new sprites and cool graphics, old gameplay looked crappy. At least, MK1-MK2 didn't even have combos and run, and UMK3 computer UI was cheaty, so they might decide to remake gameplay too => create new game engine, and who knows, maybe we'll have absolutely new game at the end.
Anyway. These guys love money. I just CAN't believe they simply rejected the project obsessed by 100000000000000000000000000000000000 fans.

Hey guys! What if those UIs and Endings are for Arcade Kollection.. I mean, instead having those old arts, they just have those pics as a replacement..

Boon and company likely had almost nothing to do with this collection. They were busy working on MK9, the big cash cow; it would have been completely unnecessary to have them simultaneously work on what was only supposed to be a visual upgrade to these games. There was an entirely different team with an entirely different budget working on this project.

No combos? Surely you jest. Granted MK1 was a bit thinner in that department, but MK2? Come on.

I don't really think that theory has much ground, at any rate. If gameplay looks crappy, it'll look crappy regardless of what the graphics do. I can't see how a fresh coat of paint would make it look any worse, unless you're actually expecting it to play differently from the original.

I was thinking that too. It probably won't happen, but it would be cool (as long as there was an option to turn it off).

Yeah, I noticed that. I was talking more about the new actors portraying Kitana, Kano and Raiden in the attract screens and Test Your Might. I think the Jax/Dragon image was just an example of how the new background graphics, UI and 3D models (i.e. Liu's Dragon Fatality) might look during gameplay. So far, we haven't had the privilege of viewing actual gameplay screens that showcase the new digitized actors. It'd be cool if they showed these during the "Arcade Kollection" MKast Rigo mentioned, but that's extremely unlikely.

Hehe:) It's OK!

Anyway, guys... it's obvious, HD is canceled. But I still believe, still want to believe:) At least, most of us were crying for DLC Rain, and now we have him. Boon is not completely deaf.)

Meh .......
Considering that Ed Boon and NRS were bragging about "fan input for DLC," I guess 1 out of 4 ain't bad.

OT:
While it sucked that they weren't able to go through with HD for the Kollection, at least it's getting released, even if they are JUST straight-up ports.
