Although I said it before, I really want to see new arenas from other realms, such as Orderrealm, Chaosrealm, Edenia (although still merged with Outworld in this timeline) and a bit more from Netherrealm. If the stakes are really high, I want to see how the realms are very involved in this crisis, besides Earthrealm, Outworld mainly.
As for character development, I think Syzoth is slowly getting that good development, but just need to finally crawl out of that jabber status. I think him being saved by Kotal Kahn and becoming his right-hand warrior/bodyguard is somewhat a step in the right direction so far.
For this game, Kotal should form an anti-Special Forces team that will counter the 4 new generation heroes (Cassie, Takeda, Jacqui and Kung Jin), with either Ermac or Erron Black as the squad leader.

Meter isn't inherently a comeback mechanic, the problem is many games use taking damage as a source of meter gain.

The only time a Reptile was useful in the past 4-5 MK games was when he was the vessel for Onaga in MK Deception

If Ermac's ending is canon, I doubt he will be back since some of the MKX's ending has hinted the return of Shang Tsung.

I'm pretty confident that's going to be the case. Shang Tsung is going to have a couple of Ermac's movements and will be floating (also as homage to his MK1 version).

Yeah I just checked a gameplay video and he has a movement that looks a lot like cheetah's (well poorly animated but that's how things were back then lol) I was thinking something a little more reptilian looking, sort of like how a Komodo Dragon runs, belly close to the ground and a sort of side to side motion, that may look silly in a fighting game but if they could pull it off it would help sell the character. I still hope he looks more human than reptile but it seems like that ship has sailed.
